When we state that we have a relationship with Jesus Christ, what exactly do we mean, and how does that work out in our life in practical terms?

Does God speak to you, or has He spoken to you in ways that you cannot deny it?

I have heard His voice a few times in my life (three for correction), the other times I have had vivid dreams that revealed God was speaking to me. He also speaks through His written voice (the holy scriptures) and sometimes through my wife while other times I discern what He is saying, but through it all, I still desire to know Him better because that is what eternal life is all about (Jn 17:3; Eph. 1:17-19).

Neighbour, have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed? As it is written, they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And unto what were you baptized?

The relationship with God cannot be understated. When we pray, God has something to say so wait and listen. Too many times in the past I have used prayer just to drop off my baggage and go on my way. Though I did it in faith, that isn't ideal. I firmly believe God wants a relationship and if you stick around and listen a while you're more likely to get what you asked for. I've heard God speak more times than I can remember. I can hear God speak long enough to transcribe novels and I've done it before. I occasionally post things on this forum that came through direct revelation.

A quick example that comes to mind, I was fired from a job one time. That employer didn't really offer any explanation. After being hung out to dry, I was in a bit of a pickle and looked for a job for a while. I was praying for a job, but I wasn't listening to God's answer at all. When I finally remembered I need to actually listen I was told something like "you'll have what you asked for. do not worry."

When I got a job interview, the hiring manager plainly told me "You aren't experienced or very qualified, but we like you so we'll give you a job." People typically don't just hire underqualified people for a job even if they like them. It just isn't good business, but they did it anyway. So what do you think about that? Glory to God.

Well; I think that folks hearing God's voice in their heads should probably
have themselves tested for schizophrenia before the voice orders them to kill
somebody or start a fire.

Does that include those who think they hear God when they read the Bible?

41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; 42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

I think I misread what he said. Gosh, I wished I would've taken the time to read it a second time. I will apologize to him when he responds. 😟
No need. I agree completely with what you said. We are both addressing the same problem.
God bless you, brother. (y)

I prayed night after night, please,..please, let me hit the big lotto.
Alas, as a voice from heaven.
Could you meet me partway and buy a ticket.

In some ways analogous to salvation. (y)

Ephesians 4:21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

All of the Bible is a testimony of those that heard God, it's never been a matter of those that can or can't but of those that will or won't.

1 Corinthians 1:4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;

1 Corinthians 1:5 That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;

1 Corinthians 1:6 Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:

Luke 13:24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

I believe...

What if they hear God and the voice isn't in their head?

You mean like John Nash; the mathematician whose experiences were the
basis of a movie titled: A Beautiful Mind?

Mother Teresa went to India on the strength of some interior imaginative
locutions she claims to have received from Christ himself beginning in Sept
of 1946 and ending some time in 1947.

Years later, Teresa complained in private letters to spiritual counselors of
being abandoned by Jesus because she felt not the slightest glimmer of the
Lord's presence during virtually her entire five decades in that country.
Teresa became so stressed over Jesus' absence that she began to seriously
doubt that God existed at all: and I'm not talking about a young,
inexperienced Christian here.

Right... you are speaking of a Catholic nun whose innermost private
thoughts were betrayed by people she trusted, her religious colleagues.

@Webers.Home do you think all experiences with the Spiritual world are fake or just some are fake and some are true?

The key to God speaking to us is are we listening. I have been told by some people that they never hear the voice of God when I say I hear him all the time. If you are not listening, he is not going to bother taking his time to speak.

Just a thought. Relationship automatically means talking. Imagine me saying I have a relationship with my wife, but I never talk to her. Communication is vital to relationship. That how we get to know each other. Sad to say, too many churches teach you how to know ABOUT him, but not how to know him. There is a vast difference between the two.

I’m not sure about John Nash or mother Teresa, but I meant like hearing a voice from heaven speaking to someone?
