Jesus taught that repentance for our sins was very important. At the start of His ministry the first words He spoke were, "Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand."
So, what is true repentance and how do we repent? And, what are the consequences if we fail to repent? Thanks
your asking how you can possibly do what God demands of you brother
ask how can I
receive the gift that he wants to give to me of repentance ?
That’s the question
It’s why we all share the gospel as we grow
“And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, in meekness instructing those
that oppose themselves;
if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
and that
they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”
2 Timothy 2:24-26 KJV
ever hesr the phrase “ the truth sets you free ?”
“The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;”
Mark 1:1 KJV
To accept this truth sets us free of the bondage and dominion sin has over us realizing it’s a process of growing our faith and a lifetime walk that we grow up and get better with time and have mercy and grace we need when we fail.
“Jesus answered, Thou sayest that
I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”
John 18:37 KJV
Jesus said this many times in different ways
“Jesus answered and said unto them,
This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”
John 6:29 KJV
“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him,
If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
and ye shall know the truth, and
the truth shall make you free.
Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever
committeth sin is the
servant of sin. If
the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
John 8:31-32, 34, 36 KJV
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world
through him might be saved.”
John 3:16-17
“Verily, verily, I say unto you,
He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
John 5:24 KJV
“
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing:
the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
John 6:63 KJV
“
Verily, verily, I say unto you,
If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.”
John 8:51 KJV
“I came not to call the righteous, but
sinners to repentance.”
Luke 5:32 KJV
“And
the gospel must first be published among all nations.”
Mark 13:10 KJV
“It is written in the prophets, And
they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore
that hath heard, and hath
learned of the Father, cometh unto me.”
John 6:45 KJV
“All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:27-30 KJV
we do that for life and when we fail as we all do again and again in different ways it’s going to cause repentance and not allow us to keep going on and have no conscience. Repentance isn’t saying “ be perfectly sinless first on your own then I’ll have you “
he’s saying “ come all ye sinners to me acknolwedge your sins and failures to me and I will heal your scars and flaws and imperfections within your heart and upon your mind I will call you to repentance just hear what I’m teaching you and receive it with joy because of the promises in it “
while your believing in imperfection I’m perfect enough for you already just follow after me believe and hear , hear and believe and follow And do
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and
preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;
but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
Mark 16:15-16 KJV
but also everyone should remember as we learn the gospel
“And that servant, which
knew his Lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
But
he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes.
For unto
whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required:
and to whom men have
committed much, of him they will
ask the more.”
Luke 12:47-48 KJV
