Starts out telling us Job was upright. I don't think of myself as upright or wealthy like Job but for some reason the Book of Job has probably caught my attention more than any other part of the Bible. Do we gravitate toward certain parts of the Bible for a reason or is it that some parts are geared for beginners or something like that. I started reading the bible about 2018. I did read some of it in 1971 or 1972 (KJV).

“though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord GOD.”

job is a powerful book it is very deep waters but powerful it’s also complex because long parts of it are actually explaining the wrong. Thing

what I mean is jobs friends give long speeches but they are wrong in thoer conclusions

it’s one of those books we can’t take each verse the same job is saying some things , his friends are saying some things incorrectly and then God is saying some things

if you look only at the dealings of job , elihu the young man who isn’t wrong and Gods responses to job

it is a little easier to follow the message coming forth from it and lessons we can learn about God

I do think as we read scripture certain things will draw more attention from
One person than another and then the other person will notice other things

we are all at different points d need to learn dofferent things at a given time one persons struggling in one area another in another different area Gods word is able to reach us all at the points we really have need to be taught truth and strengthened in faith

also it works to bring us together to share the word so we come to a better more complete understanding , this is something we can benefit one another in because no one knows it all by design we want to come together and grow allowing everyone to speak d the othere to consider

we hold onto the good and let the bad pass through

we helpmone another grow in faith and verity encourage one a tower with the thkngs we have learned and accept also the encouragement and edification of what they have learned and share

we are like one body hands have thoer finction ears thiers nose has its finction feet thiers , the heart has its finction , the brain ect

“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

but speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: from whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.”

Thanks much Pilgrimshope. I can hardly believe how incredible it is to read God's Word and how. I know that a lot of people have used the almost exclusively the KJV but I don't remember getting much out of it when I read some of it back in the 70's. I usually read the NLT. I wonder if towards the end of Job, Ch.38 where "The Lord answered him out of the whirlwind", might not be referring to a state of mind. Some nights in the past couple years I would get something in my mind about the Bible and couldn't sleep and I would have to get up and look things up. Kind of a whirlwind in my head. Go figure.

amen brother each of us should find the version that we can best understand and benefit from

I had a Bible I loved years ago it was in the early 1980s it was the original niv “new international version “ even today I still study that one also I’ve found often when you compare different versions it’s actually a benefit

but I’m not a person who thinks one version is true and others aren’t I believe God is behind them all because we speak different understand different phrases I prefer the kjv now days and it was really the only version available when I was young I suppose I got used to the antiquated language it’s written in but I actually have about ten versions of scripture I just a friend tonthe kjv because it’s where I’ve always found the most spiritual growth for myself personally

that old niv site was a blessing though when I bought it it’s just a preference thing for me I’m glad you found a version that neat suits you God speaks through them all into moor hearts if we hear the gospel and believe

yes brother what your describing there it almost feels like the ocean is being poured into a funnel and it’s overwhelming you in certain moments like there’s too much knowledge to comprehend ? Is that at all the feeling your referencing ?

like your a cup and the ocean is being dumped into you , and your only catching a cups worth and can’t keep up? That whirlwind ?

Different parts of the Bible have impact on us as we go through our lives and grow in faith.. Also when we have experiences in our past and even in our present that are catered for by different parts of scripture.. Alos our personality will cause us to like one Gospel account over another.. Some people are what i call Gospel of John people and others like myself are more of a Gospel of Matthew type of person..

And is it possible that Job is the 'story' of each one of us dead in sin and finally given a reprieve or a new life when we come to acknowledge our need for the 'Savior'. (Job 42:1 Then Job answered the LORD, and said, 2 I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee. 3 Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not. 4 Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me. 5 I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. 6 Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.) It seems Job was like a dead man in his afflictions and even though he always had a sense of God he really had not accepted the 'Power' available thru the 'acceptance' or turning to the 'Savior'. ( 6 Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.) Job's experience is what we each go thru in our own way and like verse 5 ( I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.) shows we need the complete 'realization' of Jesus as Savior. Another example of prophecy perhaps????

I think so brother one of my own beliefs is there’s an angle of Jesus and the gospel och includes us today in nearly everything in the scripture

Godnis really big on consistency and he’s shown forth the patterns of Christ from the very beginning even Adam was a foreshadow of Christ

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

we know because of the New Testament this

“in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: for by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth,( genesis 1:1) visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: and he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭1:15-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

see he is the first

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

and also the last

“For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭65:17‬ ‭

he is the old and the new the beginning and also the end

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭21:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

he was in the beginning and is now and was on earth walking among us in the flesh he lived and died and lives forever more

“The Revelation of Jesus Christ,…. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches….
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭1:1, 8, 11‬ ‭

“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭22:12-13, 16, 20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

what I mean is it’s always been about Jesus only in the ot it’s hidden from sinful man we see figures and shapes hear examples of men like job , which is always leading us to accept and receive Jesus Christ our Lord

even this is foretelling Jesus the seed of promise who would overcome the devil but wound be bitten and wounded in the process

“and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭3:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus ( son of man ) would overcome satans dominion over us but in the process he wound suffer a wound this ferries through Seth’s line to Abraham Isaac and Jacob then David , zerubbal Daniel Ezekiel and eventually leads us to the birth of this promised seed Jesus Christ our savior from the devil

See how God told the serpent the woman’s seed would crush his head but he would wound his heel ?

“He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭3:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

in Christ satans power over mankind is crushed through the sacrifice of Jesus wounded for our transgressions and with the punishment of our sins upon him he has disarmed the devil and given us life through his true word infallible and forever

my seemingly odd point is you can find prophetic scripture in some form throughout the entire Bible foretelling and foreshadowing figures of Christ and his people (Christian’s ) so I would say it’s a absolutely possible that job fits into this idea

Jesus is from everlasting and there’s always a reflection of him on scriptire even before he was born God sees the end from before the beginning and has always been speaking of Christ through prophets it’s just hard to see until we meet him in the gospel it seems to open our eyes and help is see him in the ot also those shadows and figures and examples prophetically speaking

Does the devil at this time have the ability to influence us like with Job? I get the feeling he does in some ways. Hope uncle Arthur is ok.

remember Satan had went to God against job ? Christ came and then when he went to heaven Satan lost his right to ever enter again to accuse man before God

Jobs book is out of order he lived before the law came but notice how the devil is making accusations against him to God ?

“if you take away your hedge of protection around him job won’t hold up “ said the devil to God about job he lives before Christ became flesh and was glorified so after Jesus came this changed Satan can no longer accuse us to God

“And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭12:5, 7-8, 10-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

rather now he’s on earth tempting us to turn against Gods powerful truth of Christ he can’t go to God against us so he now tries to go to us and turn us against God

he can’t be in heaven now but

“Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭12:12, 17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

in the ot man had an accuser before God we see it here even clearer but it’s showing us what God was going to do about the issue

“And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.

And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?

Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.”
‭‭Zechariah‬ ‭3:1-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Remission of sins was coming a change of filthy garments to clean linens of saints and also , instead of an accuser against us before God we now have Jesus advocating and interceding in heaven

imagine if that was saying “ I saw melchezidek the high priest stand before God himself and his garments were white and clean and glistening “

That’s what we have now Jesus The high priest standing before God d he’s not accusing us but he’s interceding for us and advocating for us

“My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: and he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭2:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

imagine if the book of job was that order and Jesus was talking to God about job he wouldn’t be saying what the devil was but he’s be saying “ yes I’ve considered job he’s a good and righteous man and loves you lord let’s bless him for it “

V “ we’ll sure you keep him blessed and safe but take the t and let me try to break him and he will break and show you he’s not worthy “

it’s accusation v intercession the order in heaven has changed because Gods wrath is no longer his Will for us but salvstion so we needed a new thing to be done which is the gospel and new heavenly order of melchezidek our advocate Jesus Christ the righteous oir intercessor forever and Satan has no voice against us now

Which leaves us no on this boat we may face earthly trials and tribulations but just like job we will be blessed instantly forever in return we are here now without an accuser to God

Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:34-39‬ ‭

we’re in a much better situation than job was , but also we can endure and overcome trials and tribulation like job did now we have the advocate rather than accuser

Yea brother! You pegged it. Now how about this Jeremiah 16:16 ¶ Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the LORD, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks. 17 For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes. 18 And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double; because they have defiled my land, they have filled mine inheritance with the carcases of their detestable and abominable things. 19 O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit. 20 Shall a man make gods unto himself, and they are no gods? 21 Therefore, behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know mine hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is The LORD.
Mankind is enamored with all our technological advances; tv, appliances, planes, trains and automobiles. Here in Chicago CBS affiliate WBBM news radio recently reported that technology would soon solve all problems. False god? Maybe AI developed by some genius will be associated with Antichrist? I went on facebook maybe two years ago and poste there that the ( carcases of their detestable and abominable things) are automobiles. I was banned. I don't see that our technology is all that good. It seems to be ultimately destroying us. When God creates something it is good.

Job was a perfect and upright man who revered God. Satan wanted to prove to God that Job would turn against him if he were to be unprotected and persecuted. God knowing Job's faithfulness allowed Satan to persecute Job but was not permitted to take his life. Job pretty much lost everything because of Satan's persecution, but never once blamed God or turned against him. Job had three friends that kept accusing him of wrong doing, but Job kept proclaiming his innocence. In chapter 38 the Lord answered Job and told him to quit listening to words without knowledge that his three friends were speaking and went on to give Job a bible lesson. In the end of the book, after Job prayed for his friends, the Lord blessed Job with twice as much as he had before. Job is a type of God's elect that will stand against Satan and his false teachers when they come trying to deceive the people in the end times.

yes amen technology makes a lot possible that wasn’t before

I think it’s like everything an evil person uses technology for evil and a person with a good and pure heart would use it for good

I personally think a wicked world is being destroyed by itself and technology is helping but also there’s a lot of good on technology I suppose everything in the the world is part of the good and evil man unleashed in the beginning

Very interesting how Job replies to God. Particularly since he was 'upright'. I specially find Verses Job 42:3 and 5-6 of significance relative to the whole book.

1Then Job answered the Lord and said:

2“I know that You can do everything,
And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You.
3You asked, ‘Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?’
Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand,
Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.
4Listen, please, and let me speak;
You said, ‘I will question you, and you shall answer Me.’
5“I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear,
But now my eye sees You.
6Therefore I abhor[a] myself,
And repent in dust and ashes.”

2“I know that You can do everything,
And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You.
3You asked, ‘Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?’
Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand,
Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.
4Listen, please, and let me speak;
You said, ‘I will question you, and you shall answer Me.’
5“I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear,
But now my eye sees You.
6Therefore I abhor[a] myself,
And repent in dust and ashes.”
“I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You.
6Therefore I abhor myself,
And repent in dust and ashes.”

repentance through intercession and bloodshed. ( priesthood intercession )

“And it was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right,

as my servant Job hath.”
‭‭Job‬ ‭42:7‬ ‭

“Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering;

and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.

So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went, and did according as the LORD commanded them: the LORD therefore accepted Job.

And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.”
‭‭Job‬ ‭42:8-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“and lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭

“While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭17:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his Lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.”
‭‭John‬ ‭15:12-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: as thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.”
‭‭John‬ ‭17:1-6, 8-10, 14-21, 24-26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:19‬ ‭

“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭1:1-3‬ ‭

“Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭2:1, 14-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. but this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭7:22, 24-26, 28‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:31, 33-35, 37-39‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Godbhas always worked through the intercession of a good and holy acceptable man like Seth , Noah , Abraham who interceded for lot , and Moses who interceded for the children of Israel when God said he was destroying them all , or job interceding for his friends who spoke wrong of God and job had not

his love for us is the sustaining force of salvation , if Jesus loves us we’re going to be saved if we do believe the gospel and convert to the faith. We have to be willing to learn from Jesus in the gospel to have faith in him and repentance and changing our ways as we become aware like job did is paramount for believers and it does happen when we become aware

Sounds as though Job even as an upright man did not comprehend God as thoroughly as he thought he did. Something like the saying, 'familiarity breeds contempt'. Not that Job dismissed God but Job was possibly being self righteous. Now add two words to the saying; 'familiarity without understanding breeds contempt'. Now it seems this saying is much more apropos. Somehow the first way I put the saying seems very familiar to me. Possibly used in certain circles. May be that I have come upon a certain 'strong hold' in my own situation. Now since his three friends were so certain of him being guilty, and it seems the junior of the group, Elihu, is almost overlooked is a puzzling situation. More meditation needed?

The Book of Job is rife with lessons but here are worth considering:

1. God is worthy to be worshipped at all times...the Lord gave, the Lord hath taken; blessed be the name of the Lord.

2. Trials when understood correctly are designed to increase our faith...though He slay me I will trust Him.

3. In our trials God is always revealing Himself more intimately to us...I had heard of Thee with the hearing of my ear, but now my eye seeth Thee.

this is how God deals with repentant believers

David had committed adultery , then lord and plotted and then had a man’s death plotted and carried out to cover his sin

David repented and asked God to create in him a clean heart to wash and forgive and change his sinful nature

David surely had sinned in his life we have perfect records of it sins of death also he had done after he repented and went to the lord for mercy this is what God said of David after he had died and been dead awhile this is howGod remembered David

“and rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it thee: and yet thou hast not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in mine eyes;”
‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭14:8‬ ‭

David had committed adultery with a righteous man’s wife Uriah the Hittite , the. Had ended up plotting his murder and ordered it to be carried out

yet he repented and turned to God for mercy and received forgiveness and even remission of his sins as if they never existed he’s remembered as a man who lives after God with all his heart , and kept the commandments because of Christs intercession for him

That’s our testament

Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55:3, 6-8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

David learned about confession and acknowledging his sins v hiding them

Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no guile.

When I kept silence, my bones waxed old Through my roaring all the day long. For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: My moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.

I acknowledged my sin unto thee, And mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; And thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah. For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: Surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭32:1-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

If we will own and acknolwedge our sins he will forgive them and treat us as if we hadn’t sinned at all but if we hide them it’s not the same

“If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭1:6-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

again it comes back to intercession and advocation

“My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: and he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭2:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Starts out telling us Job was upright.
This is the key to the book of Job. A righteous and upright man was robbed of everything in the blink of an eye by Satan (but with God's permission). Probably no Christian was ever slammed as hard as Job. And his "friends" had the gall to believe that it was all Job's fault. But God set them straight, and restored everything back to Job (probably a contemporary of Abraham but in another location). It is significant that in Ezekiel it is Noah, Daniel, and Job who are presented by God as exemplary righteous men.
