One more thing
When I first got saved over 40 years ago I was in college. I had to really focus on my studies, but I also spent many hours at the church meetings and spent my free time reading the word. I was clear from the Lord I needed this. It was sanctifying my mind. I would go through 20 chapters a day in the Bible, often more.
In one class they were talking about the 3 mile event and I asked for someone to explain what they were talking about. The professor was stunned that I didn't know. I explained I didn't have a TV and didn't watch the news. She expressed that I needed to. I asked why? Our school was in Houston, 3 mile Island was in NY. I was never in danger. What would knowing about it have done for me?
On the other hand I felt all the time I spent in the word was valuable, it had helped me a lot, all the time in the church meetings was valuable, all the time doing my school work was valuable. I couldn't see anything in my schedule that was a waste of time.
My point is our time should be devoted to the Lord. If he leads you to watch the news, fine. If He leads you to not watch the news, fine. But if you are looking for a sure word of prophecy it isn't predictive programming, it is the Bible.

I appreciate your concern and warning. I really do. Christian professors teaching in secular colleges as well as pastors & evangelists have had discussions for years about this general topic. As young adults start college I have a problem with the ladies and many of the men going that route. I'm not Amish either. I'm not their parents, but had leadership of a college ministry and wasted too much time in higher formal education. I have had more than several perspectives. I found that k- 12 thru grad school had a generally destructive effect on the majority of believers with exceptions.
I'm not suggesting that anyone do what the Jay Dyers and Covidland writers have done and sift through hundreds of hours of modern media. I don't even think they should take heed of the thousand different preachers on the various platforms. I've seen pastors get misguided into strong delusion from too many commentaries from the wrong people. These were men in whom I invested much time in their teachings UNTIL they went astray.
One gift that I was given is discernment of spirits. That explains why I warn believers of Satan's wiles. The handful of videos I picked were done by those who did the research, so others don't have to. Does it affect lives? Absolutely yes!
As to the last couple of years, I did Not go to some soothsayer and ask for predictions into my future. I was aware as soon as I saw the people falling on the streets of Wuhan China.
That was primitive propaganda.
I was aware of the devilish deception from day one. I'm not special. It seemed very obvious what was happening..God gave me discernment. Did I watch the news?
Yes, prayerfully and with the Lord's help.
I believe that I was led to certain documents and I also knew of others who read papers written to their own people, books describing their detailed plans. I posted some of them above. That would be considered Evidence of conspiracy to commit mass murder and fraud by ANY just court.
I warned folks about it in my family, church, and strangers.
Example little over a week ago is burying a friend who decided to give into pressure from the wizards who call themselves physicians. They injected her with their toxic brew and killed her in little time.
This has happened to other immediate family members after warnings were given. I take this very seriously.
I agree with you that we should avoid evil tools of the devil. That's why I mock the mainstream news that's higher level disinformation. If people knew that, they would normally avoid it. Nobody is 100% perfect other than the Lord and his Word.
"The whole world lieth in wickedness."
I think parents should be fulfilling their God given roles of protecting their children. This is just one part of education.
I've spent most of my life serving as a personal protection specialist. How I define that is the following. I teach my students and clients what to be aware of that may pose as threats. Then they are provided the skill set necessary to defend against the evils of this world. That DOES save lives. If they don't know what evils they are to beware of, then there are hundreds of examples that we could discuss until this time next month. There are solutions as well.
I think that everyone should schedule daily time in God's Word. This is more protective than anything else as far as a believer's walk with God. Anything under the sun can take someone away from that. This is why there are instructions for an established reading schedule.
I think we agree on that too.
I am reminded of what Jesus said to the Father in John 17...
"I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 15I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. 16They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. "
