The law of the sabbath is very unforgiving. Whoever fails to obey it has to be
executed as a capital criminal; no exceptions.

Seeing as how it's illegal in most jurisdictions to execute someone for religious
reasons, how then might this particular death penalty be practiced? is there
an acceptable alternative to execution?

I've seen lots of arguments online pro and con about practicing the routine
weekly sabbath as a holy day of obligation, but yet to see any discussions
related to the penalty for skipping it.

If Christians are required to obey God's commandment to practice the
routine weekly sabbath, then why wouldn't they be required to obey His
commandment to execute those among themselves who skip it?

I should think the commandment to execute is just as binding as the
commandment to practice, i.e. aren't the two commandments joined at the
hip; so to speak?

1. If you are really going to practice keeping the sabbath then you must actually "keep the sabbath". You have to use a lunar calendar. New moon is the first day of the month, first quarter is the sabbath, full moon is the sabbath, third quarter is the sabbath and then you have a 2-3 day new moon Sabbath. Saturday is "Satan's day" and calling that the Sabbath is outrageously insulting.

2. As to the question at hand, "if Christians are going to keep the Sabbath are they also going to enforce the death penalty" to do that you would need your own country. Many Islamic countries have laws that include the death penalty for insulting the prophet, it would be the same concept. However, in a global economy it would be extremely difficult to keep the sabbath, I don't even know if Orthodox Jews do (I know they assign "Saturday" as the sabbath, but that is just insulting).

It is very clear in the Bible that the first day of any month ("moonth") is the day you first see the sliver of the new moon. For example, Tishrei 1 is the Feast of Trumpets, you need two witnesses to see the sliver, report to the Sanhedrin and they will announce the start fo the Feast of Trumpets. The Term "New moon Sabbath" is used by King David referring to the two to three day weekend.

Keeping the sabbath is keeping the law.

James 2;10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

Feast of Trumpets

The feast of trumpets is its own sabbath, as is Yom Kippur, and the first and
final days of the seven-day feast of unleavened bread. Those mandatory
holy days float, and must be observed whenever they occur just the same as
the routine sabbath no matter what day of the week they fall upon; which
can be interesting.

For example; sometimes the first day of the feast of unleavened bread is
adjacent to a routine sabbath, thus requiring Orthodox Jews to observe
consecutive sabbaths those years. That very sequence occurred back in
March/April 2021.

NOTE: It's sometimes objected that whereas Yom Kippur and the Feast of
Trumpets are specifically called sabbaths; the first day of the feast of
unleavened bread isn't. It's set aside for an holy convocation which just
simply means a sacred assembly. But it's also added that no manner of work
shall be done on that day; which is exactly what a sabbath is all about (Gen
2:2-3). In reality, the objection is just semantic nit picking.

The government of God was given to Moses to control and govern the nation.
Today Gods government doesn't control societies laws. Society has choosen mans government.
Do we throw away the moral laws of God because society has not followed Gods council.
The laws in Israels time had many death sentences.

Murder = death sentence.
Not today, so do we murder because societies laws have changed.

Do you commit adultery or bow down to graven images because there is no death penalty.

The moral laws have not changed and we are told they will be written in our mind and our hearts.

Lev 24:16 And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the LORD, shall be put to death.

Jesus Yeshua taught the Pharisees that if a law does not contain mercy it is not being applied correctly. There are laws, and there are commandments.
