The punishment isn’t on going. The eternal punishment is a punishment with everlasting effect which is why the eterbal punish is death. I.e., death lasts forever.

No on here is an SDA so that’s irrelevant. You keep trying to make us out to be cult members, but your own judgements will return to you. Your belief in ECT is found in the Quran, not the Bible. So are you a Muslim?
what dictionary you use that say eternal punishment cease to exist?
what part of Quran say eternal punishment, I am from Muslim country, I know little about their teaching though not expert, to my knowledge Muslim base on what you do

Where does it say it’s only talking about the physical body? Provided that a person is a body, soul, and spirit I have plenty of reasons to know that Ecclesiastes 9:5,6 is a reference to a wicked persons body, soul, and spirit. This is Christianity 101.

Remember Genesis? God told them the day they eat the fruit they would die. How come their bodies didn’t immediately die? Because God was taking about the immaterial component of their being.

When Ecclesiastes says when the wicked die and they do not know or feel anything, it means there isn’t a conscious soul left over to know or feel anything. Just basic logic should be enough to make this clear to the open-minded reader.

Every dictionary in the word lists the word “punishment” as a singular noun. We went over this. A singular noun means it is one thing. In hell, there are fire and worms so that’s plural punishments, meaning it is more than one thing.

While there may be various facets to the temporary pain in hell or the lake of fire, it isn’t eternal. The eternal punishment (one single thing) is death.

The word you really are confusing this for would be “punishing” which is an adjective. It would describe their eternal state as one of undergoing eternal punishment. So that just isn’t happening in the text.

This is a reading comprehension problem on your part. If you actually could understand what you’re reading you wouldn’t even question what I am saying. You also really want there to be ECT too so there’s a bias element to it.

Me on other hand, if the Bible proved ECT for all of the unsaved I would simply shrug, believe it, then move on. However, it doesn’t. Now I’m here to defend the truth because that’s my character; I’m a very protective person.

I was just looking this moment at Genesis 2:17 when the LORD commanded Adam not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Surely there is significance in the LORD telling Adam, effectively, "you will 'die' (twice) in that verse. Retrospectively, it brings to my mind the second death.

There is hope, however, for anyone who is among the living; for even a live dog is better
than a dead lion. For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing.

Consider too that from before time began and the creation of all that is, God
made provision specifically so Adam and Eve (mankind) would not live forever in
their sinful state. Yet here we have so many claiming that is God's plan all along.

They promote the lie of Satan at the heart of the fall of man and corruption of all creation.

Wow thanks for pointing out that very subtle fact. I had never noticed that before. Now that I see it I think of it as a kind of foreshadowing.

And look what the serpent says in Genesis 3:4 to Eve, effectively, "you will not 'die' (twice), but you will be like God... (suggesting immortality is obtained by eating of the tree?)

punishment is singular, but the Lord put eternal before punishment, mean never ending

The lie is/was, you shall not die. They did become like God in knowing good and evil

Some say that was one of Satan's lies, but God agreed with that statement, so it was not a lie ;)

Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil.
And now, lest he reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever...”

Then A&E were banished from the garden and the tree of Life guarded
so they could not eat from it and live forever in their sinful state.

That’s a parable. Remember the rich man was sent to torment for having good things in life? That isn’t why people get torment. This is obviously not meant to be taken literally.

Ecclesiastes 9:5,6 says don’t know feel or know things when they die. The rich man and Lazarus story must be a parable because it was literal it would create many contradictions in the Bible.

Parable not contradict real life
