Rom 4:11 Abraham received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:

Gal 3:22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by "faith of Jesus Christ" might be given to them that believe.

Believers don't obtained righteousness thru their own obedient actions. Righteousness is an imputed gift (Rom 5:17) from God. A gift is given not earned. The Lord Jesus is the source of/to righteousness.
While the Temple was operating the High Priest had authority to impute/transfer sin (Lev 16:21).
Christ is our Great High Priest (Heb 4:14). Christ can not only Impute a believer's sins onto Himself. Our Great High Priest can also, Impute His righteousness onto the believer as well. Whereby, we become the righteousness of God in Jesus (2 Cor 5:21).
Phil 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Rom 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous
