Oh great. Thanks for the warning.

*Lynx goes off to prepare his flamethrower. Again.
Maybe you should go with the pilot light option in flamethrowers? Save on matches or flicking your BIC.

See....in the meantime we are trying to hook @seoulsearch and @Lynx up with a new boyfriend/girlfriend that they won't like while they are unaware of the manipulation the whole time.

So....we need to get back to the regularly scheduled manipulation.

Bap puns come with the romantic interest....some sort of law or something.
Maybe they can be 'shipped'. Or not. :)

Really he can do those little jet engine type of lighters that are windproof. You can practically weld with those things.

Lol!

While I appreciate people thinking of me (and my friends!,) and Lynx and I have met at two different meetups over the years...

Remember that song from a while back, "I'm Sexy -- And I Know It"?

Well, we're part of a group that pretty much has its own version of that anthem: "I'm Single -- And I Like It."

We all kind of have the philosophy that if God puts someone in our path or orchestrates our lives to change, great!

But if not, we're too busy doing things like planning meetups and then trying to get to know more people to try to drag to them, er... I mean...

*Seoulsearch puts her club down. But only for a minute.*

are you saying your are already someones wife, but they just havent married you yet? Well if you are, then surely you must know who you are wife to and who your husband is by now because God would have told you

so whats the problem?
Just dont die looking for him...!
Salvation Army are pretty good at looking for missing relatives.

They have a missing persons register and match up long lost husbands to their wives Ive heard.

Some times people change their names cos they are on witness protection schemes or something. Anyway if you DO have children they'd like to get in touch with their unknown dads as well.

Im sure many people that get divorced or separated start to have second thoughts and want to get back together again, or at least, to find their ex so they can get their toothbrush or pyjamas or whatver back.

See...I got this great guy from the FLDS church that wants to meet you...he has something like 30 wives and a few dozen kids; you will fit right in with the sister wives. You sure you don't want to meet him?

That's not a marriage proposal.

That's an indoctrination into a herd.

Hard pass!!

(Which I know will leave you shocked.)

What human being in their right mind (female OR male) wants to settle down with someone who is rotating regularly between a gaggle of 30 other partners?!!

YUCK.

"You will fit right in with the sister wives." LOL. I'm pretty sure all I would do is pull a Handmaid's Tale and organize a revolt.

I think the slogan for FLDS is 'keep sweet' Pray and Obey

Otherwise the moonies will snap you up. I think they are in direct competition with each other who can have the most way out religion and the most wives...to beat Solomon's record

...or the Hari Krishna. Could be Mormon. Men can have all the wives that they want but the women can only have one husband. Maybe the women are treated like 'sole' mates. Treated like some sort of door mat that they guys wipe their feet on.

Didn't you read the thread about our meetup? We already did the sister wives thing.

Yeah, all of us ladies even went with our cult leader, Mr. @RodB651, to the grocery store.

And we even walked in a line like good little trained sister wives. Shoot, if I would have been paying attention, we probably walked in order from youngest to oldest as well. (Guess which side of the pendulum I'm on.) :sneaky:

Mostly though... we just wanted to monitor whether Rod picked up enough ground beef...

Because boy does that guy ever grill a good burger, and we all decided if he ever DID sent out applications for sister wives, Rodney's grilling skills just might be our tipping point.

In other words, we're not a good match (though we are good friends) and we're not desperate enough for a match to try to force ourselves into believing we are a good match.

We're both just not desperate for a spouse. We're happy being single.

I know this is hard for some people to comprehend, but try really hard to wrap your brains around it.

Really, really, really short version: We're not desperate enough to try to force a relationship. Sorry to disappoint.

We think alike... I actually anticipated this response. And re your earlier reply, I use to say... well if someone gets it wrong, then God knew that person would get it wrong and would have another person. But, I just don't think the omniscient God needs a plan B. He would have predetermined the right person (the one who would get it right)...

But, I question whether being in God's will simply means following His Word as written in the Old & New Testaments (Testament = Will). Re this topic, is it enough to marry someone who is equally yoked? Re life in general, is it enough to keep His commandments and live by His Word? I don't think so bc Jeremiah 29:11 says "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." So, if God knows the plans that He has for us, how could something as important as who we spend the rest of our lives with not be a part of His plan. Why would that be left up to us? Of course, He allows us to make the choice. But, shouldn't there be someone who He has already predetermined...

How so? Not sure if I'm getting what you're saying... how is it general? It's God's word vs what everyone else says. I go with what God says. But, maybe I'm not understanding what you're saying... expound pls.

Here's the thing -- It is easy for me to have faith when I know God said/promised it (even if seems impossible). But, when I don't know (whether the written Word or the still small voice), then it's hard simply bc I'm unsure not bc I doubt that He is able.

And, I looked at some other replies (although haven't had a chance to read them in their entirety and probably won't tonight since I am a very busy woman lol). Thank you for understanding that I have a question about something on which I am unclear and I would like to have a discussion based on our different interpretations of the Word and/or our understanding and knowledge of God from what we've learned through His Word. I'm glad you get it. :)
I do because I've had the same questions. I reasoned in my mind that God has to work within the framework of our free will. No I'm not saying that God tippytoes around us. What I am saying is that He has His sovereign will, but also knows ahead of time our choices, so I think this is where He has a plan "B".

I could be wrong. What do I know?
