Being a Christian, after the name and legacy of the Gospel Jesus-God sealed with his blood on the cross, I know Jesus said I am, all my sister's and brothers here and around the world, are saved the moment I,we, believe.

Please consider rethinking your agenda dedicated to trying to lead us to believe that is not true.

You will fail. And not in just this life but once you've passed from it you shall answer for every single word uttered and written in undertaking that effort.
I have no agenda. I shared the words of Paul that express the truth. (Acts 19:1-7, Romans 8:9) It is your choice whether to accept what is actually recorded in the bible.

Also, if you don't believe what Paul said, consider the words of Jesus. Why did He say the following if a person receives the Holy Ghost the moment they believe? "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?"

Each the the following scripture references confirm the Holy Ghost is given at God's discretion:

Paul's question in Acts 19 addresses whether people are saved the moment they believe.
He said HAVE you received the Holy Ghost SINCE you believed? His question makes the point that a person can believe yet not be indwelt by the Spirit of God. And as Paul said in Romans 8:9, those who do not have the Spirit of God dwelling in them are not saved. (Romans 8:9)

Peter also presented requirements for those who believed in Jesus' death, burial and resurrection. The message referenced they could expect to receive the Holy Ghost. What? Why did Peter say the group would receive the Holy Ghost if that reality had already occurred?

"Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

Notice the above is when they believed who Jesus was.

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Peter's statement above indicated the group had not received the Holy Ghost yet.

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

Clearly those who believe and obey the entire gospel message can expect to receive the Holy Ghost at some point. This truth is expressed in the Samaritan conversion record as well. They believed, got baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus, and did not receive the Holy Ghost until days afterward. (Acts 8:12-18)

If you understood the God instituted purpose of water baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus you would have understood that the scripture you referenced (Colossians 2:16-23) had nothing to do with the NT command.
Collossians 2:16-23 has everything to do with outward acts that pertain to the flesh and religious observance.

We, who believe in the Righteousness of God thru Jesus Christ our LORD also believe and know the Truth as to the righteousness of water baptism.

Two unique 'righteousness' = the First one with a Capital Eternal 'R' and the second one with a temporary 'r'.

The First One is Eternal
the second one was a one time outward 'act' of righteousness that was completed the moment you were dunked.

The First One is the LORD of Heaven who hovered over the waters and then walked on them.
the second one, is one small step with the Walk of God

The First One washes away our sins by His Blood Sacrifice.
the second one only touched our flesh
as it is written:
"For Christ suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.
He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit,
19in whom He also went and preached to the spirits in prison
20who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built.
In the ark a few people, only eight souls, were saved through water.
21And this water symbolizes the baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body,
but the pledge of a clear conscience toward Godthrough the Resurrection of Jesus Christ,

A.) It begins with Christ's Sinless Blood poured out for us = vs18
B.) enacted within us by the Spirit circumcising our heart(clear conscience) = vs21
C.) Christ completes and fulfills the Promise with His Resurrection AND because we belong to Him, we are now part of His Resurrection now in Spirit and then with a Eternal Body when HE Returns = vs21

Again... Acts 2:38, "Peter said to them, “Repent, and each one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."

will: future tense. They had not yet received the Holy Spirit.
Agreed. Scripture witnesses to the fact that God gives His Holy Spirit at His discretion. I pointed this out in post #1021

Bible Question: Is baptism (immersion) essential for salvation?

Bible Answer: Three previous Q&As have extensively revealed that God does not require a person to be baptized in order to become saved – to become a Christian. Those studies are as follows:

Is Baptism Required For Salvation?

Must we be baptized to be saved?

Do you believe that baptism is a part of salvation?

......
Conclusion: We have seen that baptism is immersion into water. We have also seen from scripture that baptism occurred after one confessed their sins and believed in Jesus with their whole heart. Baptism is not required for a person to be saved or to become a Christian. If it was essential for salvation, the thief on the cross could not have been saved. It is an act of obedience that demonstrates a desire to die to self and be like Christ (Romans 6:1-5). All we need to do is trust in Jesus with all of our heart. That is all!

The point is the portion of Colossians you quoted speaks of doctrines of men, whereas water baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus for remission of sins is a doctrine of God.

Many believe, as you do, that baptism is a symbol. But what the scripture says is the flood is the symbol that points to the reality of the NT baptism. The foreshadows/symbols in the Old Testament point to associated realities recorded in the New Testament. With that in mind, ask yourself can the flood be a symbol of a symbol? If you answered truthfully, the answer is no.

Peter said specifically that baptism is a required part of salvation. It is an obligation God instituted for those living in the NT. Even so without the shed blood of Jesus salvation would not even be possible. Faith in both aspects are required for salvation.

"And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead."

A.) the SECOND Promise of the Father

The following is the context of what led up to Ananias telling Paul to be baptized to wash away his sins...

"And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there,
13 Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.
14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.
15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord." Acts 22:12-16
The infinitive " to be" and the infinitive " to get " need to be explained. " To be" is a state of being. Am, is, are, all come from the verb " to be". Examples are: be happy, I am hungry, he is sick, you are mean, etc. " get" is an action verb. Exambles are: get in the car, get involved, get baptized, etc. In Acts 22: 16 Ananias was telling Saul that he needs to become baptized in the name of Jesus Christ in order to wash away his sins simply by believing, which he did when he was able to see again and also, because their dreams were connected. Sadly, I'm thinking that not everyone is meant to understand scripture and that is why there is so much controversy. For all true Christians that are filled with the Holy Spirit and are on this site, you can identify the wolves in sheep's clothing. The wolves reading this are asking themselves: " Who is he talking about?", " What does he mean?", " Who are the wolves?".
Is a Christian combative? Does a Christian disagree with almost every scripture quoted by different posters? Is a Christian irrational and nonsensical? I thank all the posters on this thread because I've learned a lot doing research on various scriptures posted. Also, I realize that even though with some members they are unable to understand, posting scripture and your interpretations might get viewed in the future by others that will. For that, I am grateful to CC. I'm out of this thread. I wish everyone well.

You've resolve I'll give you that. Trying to reach a works worshipper who adamantly denies we are in God's salvation by faith alone, that one among many here who's heart God has clearly hardened against his salvation by grace alone truth.

Water baptism is not necessary for salvation. If it was, then John's baptism would have been all that was required of the people that came to him. There was no need for Jesus if water baptism saved.

I was saved (and healed) by Jesus about two weeks prior to being baptized in a local lake (as a statement of my burying the "old man").

Do you like to be wrong?

Baptism is Required

Peter 3: 21.... whereunto even baptism doth also now save us...

John 3:5 .......Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Acts 2;38-....Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 22;16... And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Galations 3:26...... For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

KJV Marrk 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

KJV Matthew 3:14... But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? 15. Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now, for thus it becometh us to fulfil all rightesousness. Then He suffered Him.

KJV Matthew 28:19..... Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:.

Acts 10;47-48...
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
Acts 8:12-18: But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized.

Acts 19:4 And Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, Jesus.”

John 3; 22 After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.
23 And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.

Quote from Billy Graham that is note worthy;
....Also, to clarify I did not say remission of sin takes place at repentance. Scripture makes it clear that it occurs upon obedience to water baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus. Each is a step of faith, along with receiving the Holy Ghost, in the process of one's spiritual rebirth

.."Paul explains the doctrinal significance of what occurs when one is baptized. His explanation is found in his letter to those who had already been obedient to the command.

Paul tells the Roman Christians what actually occurred when they were/are baptized; they were baptized into His death. Being buried with Jesus into His death resulted in their sin being destroyed.

Even though Paul explains this concept, the NEW AGE RELIGION TEACHING is......... that water baptism is nothing other than a mere public display.......... And that is so far removed from the truth.

Keep in mind that Satan knows if he can continue to perpetuate that lie ...... he can keep people from entering the kingdom of God. Thus He has proven scripture which says ...in the end times there will be ...great delusions.....they are here.

Conclusion....teaching that baptism is not necessary is violation of Rev. 22;19.... And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. 20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. (Also two other books of the Bible).

Perhaps you are using the wrong bible edition.
I suggest KJV 1611 edition.

QUOTE="SparkyGreg, post: 4881387, member: 309017"]If there is no water baptism anywhere then why do we find these passages:
Mark 1: 4 And so John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 5 The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.
Luke 3:16 John answered them all, “I baptize you with water. But one who is more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
Matthew 3:13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. 14 But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?" 15 Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented. 16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
Acts 8:36 As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized? ” 38 And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him.
Acts 16: 31 They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” 32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. 33 At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized.
Acts 22:16 And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.’

From these we learn:
1.John's baptism was with water in which repentant received forgiveness. Jesus submitted himself to this baptism to accomplish all righteousness. His baptism blesses and gives His benefits to out baptism.
2.Those who heard Jesus' words to make disciples "baptizing them" in the name of our Triune God clearly understood that meant connecting Jesus Words with water. The other passages where people were baptized included water.
3.The Holy Spirit uses means to connect the blessings Jesus won to the won receiving them. In Baptism it is Water.
Acts 2: 38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” 40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”
41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.[/QUOTE]

Great post.
Having said this, ''ALL Truth (for man) began in Genesis which proceeded Forth from the Mouth of God.'', I'm curious of your thoughts here.

When that is true how to explain the serpent entering Eden, the tree God planted and made off limits, and the subsequent fall of the human race.
How does your observation consolidate that?

Looking forward to your thoughts.😊💕🛐✝️🌈
I greatly appreciate your understanding and encouragement but will not address this valuable insight by your spirit, here on this platform.
Peace

A.) the SECOND Promise of the Father
B.) the RESURRECTION

"for who has known the Mind of the LORD that he may instruct HIM...."
The scripture you quote is not relevant to what we are discussing. We can know God's mind regarding topics where two or more scriptures confirm a principle. The scripture you quote would be in reference to things such as questioning why God would choose to require obedience to water baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus for remission of sins in association with Jesus' sacrifice. So why do you question Him?

The same thing goes for the concept of OT symbols pointing to NT realities. God's word establishes that principle. And as such, NT water baptism is not a symbol but a reality that accomplishes what God says it does. To insist upon ignoring the principle because it does not line up with one's current understanding is not using wisdom.

As the scripture you referenced points out, Who are we to instruct God? That is not our job! Our job is to accept what is revealed in God's word. And in this case, God's purpose for water baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus and be obedient instead of trying to rationalize it away. It is only after doing so, that one's step of faith produces further revelation. God rewards those who diligently seek Him.

"But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established." Matt. 18:16

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." 2Tim. 3:16-17

Your comment in post 967 concerning Acts 22:16: "In Acts 22: 16 Paul was asking the mob to get baptized in the name of Jesus so that their sins would be washed away. Calling on the name of the Lord means declaring Jesus as Lord and Savior."

Even after being informed, in post 1008, of your error you go on to give an explanation contrary to what the account actually expresses. (post 1027)

I share the following in hopes to encourage you to study what the bible actually says about the topic of water baptism. After seeing that the word included consistent and numerous scriptures of the need to be water baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus I obeyed the command. It was after belief and obedience to the command that the Lord took me on a journey revealing the many foreshadows of NT water baptism.

Consider that God always required obedience in one form or another in different dispensations of time throughout the bible. And warned failure to comply would result in death. Why? Because He established a purpose behind each and every one. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

.."Paul explains the doctrinal significance of what occurs when one is baptized.

41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
You can post an entire book but that doesn't mean you're correct. Baptism (in water) is not required for salvation. That's what my Bible says and that's what I know to be true.

Read the verses that you posted and try to understand what they actually say. Then we can discuss the issue further.

Here is something to start you thinking: all the people that John baptized in the Jordan were not saved. Why not?
