Ezekiel 13.

Could there be false Pastors & Teachers in your Church?

We are going to let the different versions of the Bible do the explaining.

We are going to start with Ezekiel 13: verses 1-9

Verse 1.

New Living Translation
Then this message came to me from the LORD:
Berean Study Bible
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
King James Bible
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

God is talking to Ezekiel and Ezekiel is writing it down word for word for us. So lets see just what God has to say here.

Verse 2.

New Living Translation
“Son of man, prophesy against the false prophets of Israel who are inventing their own prophecies. Say to them, ‘Listen to the word of the LORD.
Berean Study Bible
“Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are now prophesying. Tell those who prophesy out of their own imagination: Hear the word of the LORD!
King James Bible
Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear ye the word of the LORD;

Verse 3.

Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear ye the word of the LORD;

Cross References

"Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture!" declares the LORD.

Jeremiah 23:16
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: "Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They are filling you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the LORD.

Jeremiah 23:28
Let the prophet who has a dream retell it, but let him who has My word speak it truthfully. For what is straw compared to grain?" declares the LORD.

Verse 4.

New Living Translation
“O people of Israel, these prophets of yours are like jackals digging in the ruins.
Berean Study Bible
Your prophets, O Israel, are like foxes among the ruins.
King James Bible
O Israel, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts.

Cross Reference

Song of Solomon 2:15
Catch for us the foxes--the little foxes that ruin the vineyards--for our vineyards are in bloom.

These prophets are not Good prophets

Verse 5

New Living Translation
They have done nothing to repair the breaks in the walls around the nation. They have not helped it to stand firm in battle on the day of the LORD.
Berean Study Bible
You did not go up to the gaps or restore the wall around the house of Israel so that it would stand in the battle on the Day of the LORD.
King James Bible
Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the LORD.

Cross References

Isaiah 13:6
Wail, for the Day of the LORD is near; it will come as destruction from the Almighty.
Isaiah 13:9
Behold, the Day of the LORD is coming--cruel, with fury and burning anger--to make the earth a desolation and to destroy the sinners within it.

Verse 6

New Living Translation
Instead, they have told lies and made false predictions. They say, ‘This message is from the LORD,’ even though the LORD never sent them. And yet they expect him to fulfill their prophecies!
Berean Study Bible
They see false visions and speak lying divinations. They claim, ‘Thus declares the LORD,’ when the LORD did not send them; yet they wait for the fulfillment of their message.
King James Bible
They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The LORD saith: and the LORD hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word.

God is using some very harsh words here, you would do well to pay close attention to Him.

Verse 7.

New Living Translation
Can your visions be anything but false if you claim, ‘This message is from the LORD,’ when I have not even spoken to you?
Berean Study Bible
Haven’t you seen a false vision and spoken a lying divination when you proclaim, ‘Thus declares the LORD,’ even though I have not spoken?

Jeremiah 23:30
"Therefore behold," declares the LORD, "I am against the prophets who steal from one another words they attribute to Me."

Verse 9.

New Living Translation
I will raise my fist against all the prophets who see false visions and make lying predictions, and they will be banished from the community of Israel. I will blot their names from Israel’s record books, and they will never again set foot in their own land. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign LORD.
Berean Study Bible
My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and speak lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of My people or be recorded in the register of the house of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord GOD.
King James Bible
And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.

Cross Reference

Jeremiah 17:13
O LORD, the hope of Israel, all who abandon You will be put to shame. All who turn away will be written in the dust, for they have abandoned the LORD, the fountain of living water.
When you only have one "lead" pastor who's feeding the sheep it's a recipe for disaster. People usually hold their pastors up as these smart people who must know what they're talking about. It disincentivizes people from studying God's word for themselves, and opens the door for all kinds of false doctrine. I don't find anything in the New Testament that teaches this kind of model.

That is a possibility in any church. There can be (and are) false messiahs, apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers all over the world right nw. All the more reason to know Gospel truth and Bible truth, and discern truth from error. All the cults originated with either false prophets or false teachers. There are false teachers on every Christian forum, since there is constant spiritual warfare.

The problem is that lies seems to be more attractive than the truth (harking back to Genesis 3). And today -- in the broader political, social, economic, and educational realms -- lies are prevailing over truth. Why? Because men love darkness rather than light, because their deeds are evil. Christendom is moving further and further into apostasy, and nations are moving further and further in tyranny. This has all been prophesied, and the end-game is the reign of the Antichrist for 3 1/2 years.

But that is not the end of the story. The Antichrist (the Beast), the False Prophet who accompanies him, and Satan himself will all be cast into the Lake of Fire. Then God will establish a New Heavens and a New Earth (wherein dwelleth righteousness). That is also the end result shown in Daniel's prophecy of 70 weeks.

Daniel 12 needs to be prayerfully read and understood in light of the entire bible. There are 2 terms that needs to be understood and just as Jesus told his Apostles when they could not cast out a demon, he told them that they needed to fast and pray for that special situation.

The first term is the scattering of the holy people and the second term is the passing away of the daily sacrifice. Even in the 1st Century these terms were somewhat difficult to understand. But today they are impossible to understand unless the truth has set you free.
It's application today is different today from the days of the 1st century. This is because Jesus said so. He told the Samaritan woman that things were changing and that the change was already here.

John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

Nothing in Scripture supports the bolded assertion.

We don't become Christians by moral excellence, and we don't "unbecome" Christians by moral failure.
I really do not do debates of the word of God but if we can be civil, we can have a heart to heart discussion that could be fruitful to the advancing of God's kingdom.

Rev 13:9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.
Rev 13:10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

If slapping me on my cheek without my responding was what was required to enter the kingdom of God, then everyone could easily enter the kingdom (well, it's not so easy). The real understanding is that you do not defend yourself because Christ who in-dwells us is our defense. (Remember Jesus had to replace the ear of the soldier after Peter had cut it off)

The bigger picture here is this:

Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
Romans 12:20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
Romans: 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Now you cannot do this as a normal human being, maybe that is why you find it difficult to believe. It is a resultant effect of the truth setting you free. Remember that you have to understand else your communication with the Father through his holy Spirit will be missing.

Daniel 12 says this:

Dan 12:10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

The following is not something we do but actually what God has ordained to happen.

Rev 22:11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

The New Testament is drawing from the examples written on the old for instance your op here is in the epistles as an example for us in the church

In the church we see this aspect of the ot false prophets

“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭2:1-2‬ ‭

that’s exactly what happened tonisrsel the prophets began leading them away from the truth of Gods word this turned thier minds against the warnings of God that are meant to keep us safe this led then astray having no boundaries spoke. From thier God

much like modern Christianity and it’s teachkngs the message is “ believe what sounds good and like a blessing to you , don’t believe the earnkngs about sin and repentance that lead to those blessings and promises

Israel’s false prophets told them they were “the chosen , the elect “ God would never forsake them as he said he would if they co tinier in rebellion he loves us so he’ll never really turn away like he’s saying he will “ we the elect can never be lost he chose us so eat drink and be merry we’re all saved nothing else to see here “

When the people are nt taught what God really said both the blessings and warnings of sin and repentance when we change it and remove things we don’t think are relevant that he’s making relevant we’re involved in a false doctrine and this can destroy us and steal our “ salvation “ lead us to believe lies and reject truth and just instruct us to go the wrong dorection

false doctrine is the most pervasive issue in Christianity and it is doing massive amounts of damage to the faith inside the church
The bible is not the most complex book in the world, which even Albert Einstein could not comprehend or appreciate. It is a book that is beyond the understanding of the natural man.

If you brought a Chinese or Russian book to me, they would be beyond my understanding.

The bible has more stumbling blocks than it has apparent truths. (Or rather I should say that the bible's writings are full of stumbling blocks that only the true child of God can understand.) One cannot by accident get into the kingdom of God and just as God put a flaming sword in the garden Eden around the tree of life, he also took steps to safeguard the secrets of the bible.

When God told Moses to put a serpent on a pole and anyone that looked at it would live. That is a stumbling block that the evil hearts of the Israelites could not understand. Thus they we drawn into believing a lie. Yes they would live physically but they would die spiritually.

That was why Paul was so strong to Timothy to go back to the foundations of the truth and build on them.

In fact Hezekiah later on destroyed the serpent on the pole as it was instrumental on leading the people astray. If your heart is evil and opposed to God, God will lead you exactly in the direction that your heart is leading you.

God is sovereign and all knees will bow before him, even the knees of Satan.
John 15:15

New International Version
I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

English Standard Version
No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.

Berean Study Bible
No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not understand what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because everything I have learned from My Father I have made known to you.

King James Bible
Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

Mark 13:32

New Living Translation
Watch out! I have warned you about this ahead of time!

English Standard Version
But be on guard; I have told you all things beforehand.

Berean Study Bible
So be on your guard; I have told you everything in advance.

Berean Literal Bible
But you take heed; I have foretold to you all things.

King James Bible
But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.

If the bible seams to be a stumbling block for you, you need to take a good look at your relationship with Jesus. I am not trying to be judgmental, I truly want to see you grow and have a true relationship with Jesus.

I need to let you in on a little secret those days have been shorted.

Mark 13

19For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.20And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.

Matthew 24

21For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.22And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

"The days being shortened" meaning, at first seemed like a no-brainer, and I assumed that God shortened the days so that Satan could not take away the salvation of his saints.

We must remember that God does things perfectly and cannot be thwarted by Satan. God uses Satan as an agent in his salvation plan.

Now God's ways are past finding out and oftentimes God gives us just enough information to keep us within his will. God told Daniel in Daniel 12 who complained that he did not understand, to go his way until the end of time.

Dan 12:8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?
Dan 12:9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
Dan 12:13 But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.

In a similar manner, we must have patience and God eventually will bring everything into full focus. Do not listen to man, only wait upon God.

I think Abraham listened to his wife Sarah whose patience ran out and thus Abraham had a child who he thought would replace the promised one. (That is called trying to help out God) God does not need our help as he does everything perfectly. 25 years might have seemed like a long time to wait but to God his appointed times are perfect. They happen in the fullness of time and not one second earlier or later.

So, concerning "cutting the days short" means exactly what it says.

Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

The word "flesh" means having breath in itself. That is every beast, bird, creeping thing, man etc.

So the verse above is not talking about soul-saving but rather physical or body saving. Two completely opposite things. (This is what it means by being blind, interpreting the bible in a contradictory manner)

I am not sure i want to explain anymore. This is going to cause an upheaval as I will be going against the grain as most people believe in Israel as a nation, their so-called resurrection in the last days (with the rebuilding of Jerusalem etc).

But for those who believe that the next coming of the Lord is the final coming and not an earthly one, I will say this.

This shortening of the days was all about saving you in today's end-time for your name was written in the lamb's book of life. In other words you are a remnant of the 1st Century's great tribulation. God made sure that a remnant flesh was left so that his future elect saints, 2000 years later would be able to come into his kingdom.

I won't say anything else except that I am not a bible teacher and was not sent by God to teach anything but only to be a light to God's salvation. I have gone overboard and I am sure that I have confused most. Therefore each man will have to do the hard and difficult work to put everything together for himself.

Seek and ye shall find.

That is a reference to the Great Tribulation. Instead of lasting for 3 1/2 years it will be shortened by about 8 months.
It has been shortened to 5 months. It is written in Revelation. There will be those here on earth that are the children of God that have nor receaves the Mark of the beast IN THERE FOREHEAD; what is in your forehead. Right there behind your forehead? Your brain!

Revelation 13:16-18

English Standard Version
Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead,

Berean Study Bible
And the second beast required all people small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their forehead,

King James Bible
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

Verse 17

English Standard Version
so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name.

Berean Study Bible
so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark—the name of the beast or the number of its name.

King James Bible
And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Verse18

English Standard Version
This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666.
Berean Study Bible
Here is a call for wisdom: Let the one who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and that number is 666.
King James Bible
Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

Lets use some common sense here:

Why would you need wisdom to understand some number given by the beast(who came looking and acting like a lamb; Jesus) that you had to have in order to buy or sell anything. It is the number of a man. Would you allow someone from the government, the military, the police, Etc. Tell me that you would willing allow them to do that to you?

You might be tempted to tell me that if I did not do it they would kill me, put me in jail, or something worse. What did Luke tell us in Luke 21?

17And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. 18But there shall not an hair of your head perish. 19In your patience possess ye your souls.

One more thing I want to look at is the word count:

Count or calculate in the Greek means to count with a small smooth stone.

How does a stone become smooth? By being warren down by water running over being turned over and over for a long period of time. This number has been around for a very long time. It goes back to the garden.

Luke 21: 17-19
Jesus is speaking directly to his disciples, and the only reason why they would not be killed is Jesus Christ gave them a commission and until that commission was accomplished they could not be killed.
He told them that they would do greater things than what he had done.

God's word does not return to him void.

The very first day of Jesus Christ's reading of the scrolls in the synagogue, the men in his home town tried to throw him over a cliff.
The pharisees tried constantly to stone him or kill him but often he just walked straight through them without them being able to touch him. God protected him in order to accomplish what he came to this earth to do.

But after their work was finished they would all die a martyrs death.

Rev 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
Rev 6:11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

The above verse concerns the 1st Century saints including the apostles and disciples. They had to be killed before God's plan could be consummated.

This verse has nothing to do with us in these last days (2000 years later)

Peter says it very clearly who we are.

1Pe 4:6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
1Pe 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

I am not just picking one verse here and one verse there but these verses are corroborated by scores of other verses all throughout the N.T. (from the gospels to Paul's and Peter's letters etc)

To be sure, I never tried to prove one verse over another but they all come together seamlessly after reading and searching the scriptures in all sincerity and truth, knowing that it is God who does all things.

I am not suppose to teach these things as they are for my salvation and not for another. Each person has to wrestle with God for his own salvation.

The Jews were destroyed not because they did not know the scriptures by head knowledge but because it never sunk into their hearts.
They could be told the truth a thousand times but until they became sincere and searched the scriptures for themselves, they would remain blind.

Hos 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

God's description of the mark of the beast is one that has to be understood in the light of all scripture and not in isolation as to the meaning of the actual words.

One should understand that the mark of God on one's forehead actually should be understood as the mind of Christ. The mark of God on one's hand is actually hands that do the work of God.

Vice-versa the mark of the beast in the forehead should be understood as having the mind of Satan and on your hand as doing the work of Satan. (Of course you must understand that what Satan does and think appears to be good. That is the way of the beast - deception of the highest order, so that even the saved could be fooled). Truly good is going to be called evil and evil called good in these last days deceiving even the most astute.

While that can be the end result, there is no need to avoid a literal interpretation. So with today's technology, an implanted chip would be consistent with the Mark of the Beast. And the number 666 would become a part of a long string of numbers or numbers and letters identifying each individual. The globalists are already working on this and preparing the way for the Antichrist.

I understand quite well what you are saying and anyone willing to take a chip has more trust in the man-made system than they have in God. So yes it would amount to the same thing.

But if the officials in charge were to hold me down and put 1000 chips in my forehead by force, it would be totally futile, as my faith which I believe can move mountains, if it were God's will, would negate those chips on my physical body.

Mark 16 says this:

Mar 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
Mar 16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Even though these things were given to the 1st Century Apostles, the same principles apply throughout the ages from Adam to Revelations. This is because faith is the requirement and if you have true faith whether they throw you into the fire or a whale swallows you, God is your protector and you will be preserved by him.

All,

After reading all the replies to date, yes, I am reminded how real this is.

Even in Rome this past year, it's incredible what appears out of the shadows when given the forum to do so, preaching and attempting to draw men to his worship and religion.

There could be, and very likely there are false teachers and pastors.
Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Mat 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.
Mat 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Mat 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Jesus's reply to what to expect in the end-times.

Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

Paul gives a warning to those in the church.

Act 20:29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
Act 20:30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.
Act 20:31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

The Truth shall be called a lie and a lie the truth.

2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2Ti 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

1Jn_2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

This is why we must search the scripture daily to see if what they say aligns with what is already written. Better knowledge and understanding of the Bible, along with discernment, will easily expose fraud to some degree. The rest will be exposed with time and occurrence. Though it may ruffle feathers, I would suggest using the KJV, as others have proven to omit verses, change meaning, and distort the Word.

The Old Testament gives us the big picture graphically as to God's ways. But it has to be used in conjunction with the New Testament to have the relevant meaning for these last days.

God does not mince his words, exaggerate, or even add one unnecessary word to his Word and warns anyone that does so, their name will be stricken out of the book of life.

The Old Testament is the first covenant and does not apply today, because God has replaced it with the New Covenant (second covenant) which is a better covenant. The old have passed away, the new is here, do not get left behind.

The Old is relevant in that God could not shew us his New Covenant without using the Old Covenant to explain it. In other words the Old Covenant is like a graphic picture, which is like a 1000 words.
God could not explain the new because the new is spirit, invisible and so God used the Old Testament to show us step by step what the New is all about. But the Old which is like scaffolding will be discarded when the new building goes up, and the new building will stand on it's own feet.

Another way to explain it is to have a new baby, you need a fetus and an embryo before you can have that new baby. Of course you will never go back to referring to your baby as a fetus or an embryo because those were different stages used to produce the brand new baby. The brand new baby is as different from the fetus and the embryo as night is from day, even though they were initially used in the process in bringing forth the new baby.

Do not get stuck in the old or you will be left behind.

Also the Gospels are too complex to explain, and the Holy Spirit will have to teach you and not man.

That is a reference to the Great Tribulation. Instead of lasting for 3 1/2 years it will be shortened by about 8 months.
Shortened by 8 months?
What Scripture supports that claim?
