Im a confessing that I think sons can be next to useless when it comes to caring for their widowed mothers
it always seems to falls on the daughters or daughters in law if they are lucky

Not sure about widowed dads but if you were mean to your children when they were young they might not to stick around

however having said that some people dont even leave the house cos they feel they have to care for their parents all the time, I think thats a bit extreme but you probably do need to arrange a oldie-sitter just like a babysitter

Hi tourist. I already believe you are sincere. Why else would you be here if you didn't care at all. The truth is God has already answered your prayer. The day Jesus died on the cross He took that nicotine and whatever else you are struggling with, with Him to the grave and He didn't raise from the dead with it, He came out of the grave without it. God impressed upon my heart about a week ago, that whatever I desire to receive from him, whatever answer to prayer or blessing it might be, I have to take it by faith only, because the blood of Jesus has settled it! He said that we cannot receive it any other way, not by hoping or exercise of our will, but by faith alone. It's easy to believe, but to live it out is a different thing. The beginning of walking out that victory will be to take control of your emotions through your thoughts. How do we do this? By the renewing of our minds, because the Word of God is sharper than any two edged sword, able to divide asunder between the soul and the spirit. It is able to cast down every imagination that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, you know that when you want to do something you already know is sinful, but you can't control it and just go ahead and do anyway. Those thoughts are the ones controlling our appetites and desires in our sinful flesh. Just because you have them doesn't mean that you are not saved, if you already came to Christ through repentance and faith, but we do fight a real battle with Satan in this area. It's the only place he has left in controlling Christians, in the hope that they might not do further damage to his' kingdom. The fact that you are a Christian is already terrorizing him to despair! Now he has to deal with someone who desires to serve God and wreak havoc to his' kingdom and the only way he can control the situation is if he can get you to fight the battle where he isn't fighting it. He gets us frustrated in fighting in the air in the emotional realm of our soul, which is exactly where we so regularly forfeit the battle against sin. The battle always happens and is won in the mind. To win therefore, you have to see yourself winning long before you ever get to the finish line and actually win it. Don't try to finish the finish line, when in truth you are actually 100 miles away from it. In truth, just like salvation, healing from addiction is only a breath away, but if we struggle to believe it, it might take some effort on our part to renew our minds and receive it by faith. Don't throw away your cigarettes, when you haven't yet broken your craving for it. Because if you do, desire is waiting at the door again, and waiting to entangle you again around the corner, and this time Satan will try to build a stronghold and desire for smoking stronger than what you had before. This is what it's like to try and live in victory in our own strength. We are literally trying to accomplish something that is impossible for man, yet all things are possible with God! Jesus has already crossed the finish line and won the victory for you. If you don't believe it, your actions may become pure by sheer willpower and desire to please God, but inside your heart you will be weak and have not received any grace to empower you to live a life in victory over sin. Religion teaches us incorrectly, that Jesus brings us to the start of the race, but then leaves us to run it all on our own, doing works and keeping laws that we are not empowered to do under the law, but are condemned by! With Jesus and by grace alone you can live a life in purity and holiness, with the joy of heartfelt surrender in your life to Christ and it will feel almost effortless! Without Jesus, the burden of sin is heavy, but with Him we can cast it off of us and live in victory!
Eh, I'm not 100% sure about this. No, I'm not disagreeing with your overall premise about us being dependent on God, and I'm not saying that God doesn't or can't free us from bad habits. God freed me from something that had a tight grip on me about 10 years ago. And, it was instantaneous when it happened, not gradual. It was awesome :D

But, my unsaved uncle, a bitter, angry man in danger of dying in his sins when I last spoke to him, beat his alcoholism by sheer willpower. It is not the rule, but the exception, but it can happen.

I just gave someone the what for
Im tired of the misogyny on here.
This topic can really rile some people up. And there is justification for that considering what happens in the world, and maybe even in the church. It doesn't happen in my life, since my two sisters verbally beat any trace of that out of me yonks ago. Mind you, I don't believe I ever had any misogynistic traits. But you don't argue with your sisters irrespective, particularly the one that is a school teacher, you're on a hiding to nothing there!

Sometimes a person's passionate efforts in trying to right things can make them seem to come across as being extreme, and struggling with a balanced view. There are women that, for whatever reason, and perhaps justifiably so, have become Misandrists.

I'm confident that God will help us find out the correct behaviour that synchronises with His design and order of things.

Kireina you decorate your house how YOU like thats the beauty of having your own place/space

I think it gives people much joy to have their own space and nobody judging them for it. If you like teddy bears then go for it.

Even people who live out of a suitcase will bring their own objects to decorate their own hotel rooms because they just want to be reminded of home. Or maybe fresh flowers or plants.

I bought liquid chalk markers to school and started decorating the library windows. The children loved doing this too. I know some might wrinkle their nose and call it grafitti, but I think everyone has a need to make their mark on their environment somehow. It helps them feel at home.

I pray brothers and sisters have a better understanding of each other, I truly do. I just get a bit tired of constantly witnessing terrible behaviour on part of both genders. I thought we were in 21st century now and the whole 'women are to be seen and not heard' thing was a thing of the past. its become obvious that women are not ever going to put up and shut up about things they notice are not right.

Which is fair enough, you shouldn't.
I haven't discussed it with her, but I've wondered if my niece may have a disliking for males, in respect of male spouses. She has come from a broken family so I think that has influenced her. She has never been married, I don't think she is 'gay' (I hate that term in its contemporary context), but she has had two children through IVF through donated sperm. My fear is that she has lost respect for 'father' types, and her children will be disadvantaged by that.

a lot of married couples do IVF as well, so, it could be just fertility issues

I dont know I think these days children just have to adapt to whatver situation their parents have thrown them in, they really got no choice in the matter

I mean even if you were born into a rich, together family there could be something going wrong in your life like you might *gasp* fall in love with someone much poorer than you on the wrong side of the tracks

or your dad could die of overwork , or have affairs and that is quite common actually, more so than mums.

children instinctively dislike it when their parents cheat on each other, and dont like having to explain this to people (where is your dad? well hes off with HIS girlfriend)

if her two children are boys then it cant be she dislikes males that much but a lot of men just dont know how to be dads so some women may think they are actually doing them a favour by not involving them at all

IVF is mail order babies....
You get to select gender and genetic traits...from blue eyes to intelligence. (Providing you have genes conductive to these things)

Then there's the leftover snowflake babies....what to do with those kids?

really?
whats the thing with blue eyes anyway

isnt that a recessive gene so, if you have brown eyes and mate with someone with blue eyes theres only a quarter chance of your baby having blue eyes

also if you dont have much intelligence, mating with einstein isnt going to help

people thought crossing a lemon and an orange would. be great but all they got was a grapefruit

A grapefruit is a cross between a pomelo (one of the original citrus species from
which the rest of cultivated citrus have been hybridized) and sweet oranges.
