We’ve all known people or experienced it ourselves on what it’s like to use a Dating App or website, whether it’s Christian based or not.

I would like to know or hear of any first hand experiences or if you want to share of any that you know of which resulted in:

1. A successful match and marriage
2. A failed match and bad experience
3. Any other experience

Additionally, is this new form of dating a good thing for us a Christians and what advice would you bring or suggest if others are considering trying it out.

Thanks in advance!

I've been on a few so-called "Christian dating websites" in the past (not recently), but, even then, I chose the options which said that I was looking for a "friend" or "activity partner".

I would guess-timate that 90 something percent of the "women" that I spoke to were fake profiles/accounts. For all I know, I wasn't even communicating with women at all.

One particular encounter was quite humorous. I was on lunch at work and showing one of my co-workers the photos of the "woman" that had messaged me. Well, as I was showing him "her" photos, they suddenly all changed. Yes, "she" went from being a blonde-haired "white woman" to a black-haired "black woman". Again, obviously, it was just another fake profile/account.

I could share multiple other stories along those same lines, so I'd advise anyone who plans on using such apps to learn what a "catfish" is.

Anyhow, I did speak to one woman several times on the phone, and we almost went out. I actually backed out at the last minute because she brought up the topic of "sex" constantly. She pretty much made it clear that she was planning on "jumping my bones", so "my bones" and I ran away together...lol.

Just my two cents worth.

In my early days of the Internet, which was around 2002 to 2012 I tried some online dating sites. i had problems with them. Firstly I live with my Parents and my mom keeps track of my credit card. My parents don't approve of online dating. So I had to stick with free sites. I think people have better success on the pay sites. But I also think it's like gambling. They stay in business because people keep paying into them. Once you meet your mate and get married successfully, you no longer pay in.

Now days it seems that dating apps have taken over.

These are the videos I watched on them:

Thanks for sharing your experiences and lol @ jumping your bones 😆, this reminds me of when I was chatting to this guy on a dating app who was very strong on taking the conversation offline to WhatsApp then to Skype. I told him, it’s perfectly fine having the conversation on the app. We spoke for a few weeks but throughout he kept saying things like, he may look white but when he was young him and his solo mother moved to Africa to live and so he has an african accent as a result of that.

😆

Me being skeptical and curious I asked if he would Whatsapp video… he said he was only able to Skype video because WhatsApp doesn’t accept his phone network or something like that, but luckily I’m not that stupid when it comes to tech stuff - I told him okay let’s try Skype (knowing full well he’s a scammer). And man, these scammers are clever, so he or the team basically record others peoples videos who they can find online, and then would play it on the video skype on loop then would just talk. Clearly when they spoke and the video playing were not in sync and I actually laughed because it was ridiculous but, I do know some people who are more vulnerable get sucked into this type of scam. It’s sad.

Anyways thought I would share to bring awareness to other men and women on dating apps.

I just says its at your own risk as with anything
Because of uptake in smartphones its just a common thing now

They are run by algorithms so its not as if theres some kind Aunty matchmaker doing the computer vetting all the candidates and telling them what to do and how to behave. Plus nobody is recording those dates so if it all happens to go wrong, you not getting your money or time back...!

Dating app... That would be an app for finding a date?

Why on earth would I want to do that? From what I've heard a date sounds like an expensive, embarrassing hassle. Besides it would probably cut into my forum time. :p

Yes, the number one ploy of scammers is to get you off of the website so they can hopefully scam you privately before their account gets deleted by the moderators.

I really need to go to bed (I have to get up really early for work tomorrow), but I have to share one other story.

This one "woman" posted some REALLY "Christian-sounding" stuff on "her" profile. Stuff about the fear of God and some other things that I rarely ever hear anybody speak about. I was skeptical, but "she" lived in Pennsylvania (so do I), so I shot "her" off a private message to see if I could find out whether or not "she" was real. Well, when I checked the next day to see if "she" had replied or not, "she" suddenly lived in Washington. Not D.C., but Washington state. I was like "okay". Strictly out of curiosity (I knew that "she" was a scammer by now), I checked "her" profile the next day, and "she" lived in Wisconsin.

Anyhow, like I said, 90 something percent of the "women" that I encountered were fake profiles/accounts, and I would imagine that a lot of the "men" there are fake profiles/accounts as well.

I had to log back on quickly to say this...

If anyone here does try out a dating app, then I'd strongly advise you to at least right click on the person's profile picture, and then chose the option to search the internet for other places where the photo may appear. I actually had one "woman" who contacted me whose photo turned out to be that of a young Sandra Bullock, and many other photos appeared on other websites under different names and locations than were given on the website that I was on. One "woman" lived in both Egypt and Australia.

Anyhow, those apps are breeding grounds for scammers.

Good night.

You want to hear something funny? I once met a woman, that sent me three pictures of three different women, and tried to convince me all three were of her!

I DON'T try to go to a dating site lol I heard not so pleasant stories there but anyways I don't know if we can count CC as a slightly dating site 😅 coz I met someone here well it was not intentional it just happened... though it didn't work out it was a pleasant experience still 😊

So for me it is a yay and nay! Use those sites prayerfully and cautiously 😊 and you'll be fine.

I'll admit to going on a date from the website years ago, but it made me so nervous. I think it can be wonderful for some but it caused me to hone in on my single status as something that needed changing. I want to be content and going to the site, looking at all the pics and the profiles of fellas just had me kinda barrroooing, lol, if that makes sense. I put the site away and decided to be ok with where I am, just as it is. I have moments of lonliness but hey, that's life. It is not always roses and sunshine for anyone, regardless the status. Anywho Mel, good to see you Sis.

I think there are actually Match Making Agencies that can match your potential person based on what info you provide them. But of course you have to invest time and $$$

1. Yep- match and marriage. Been married for 11 years and have 2 kids.

So yes it can be done. Met a lot of creeps on there as well. I believe my husband and I had a 60% compatability rate or something very low. 😆

My friend talked me into it. She met her guy online (they're married now for about the same about as me.) I went on to try it out and"just for fun." Didn't expect anything to happen with it.
