How about a balanced mixure of the two?

If people are going to play the game, it makes sense that they play according to whatever rules are stated in the OP.

At the same time, the thread is meant for fun.

It may not be an actual crime to break the rules - but, it sure can be a disappointment and a turnoff for playing the game.

Occasional silliness doesn't hurt anything - the game can still go on being played - by the rules, no less...

If the OP rules say "no side comments" - then - in most cases, at least - to a point, at least - it probably should be respected...
