He said that to the thief on the cross specifically though.
He said that to His 12 disciples.
That seems to be for David.
Is that the millennial kingdom or new heavens and new earth?
Who is “we?” That’s not clear it’s talking about life after death. I mean, while alive Paul said there was someone who was caught up to the Third Heaven.
Where do people go while waiting for the new heaven and new earth?
“He said that to the thief on the cross specifically though.”
God is no respect or of persons. He doesn’t play favorites
it’s why Paul teaches this just like the thief was facing death and was promised to be present with Jesus the same day in paradise paul teaches this as doctrine
“Therefore we are always confident, knowing that,
whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: we are confident, I say, and willing rather
to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. For
we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the
things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”
2 Corinthians 5:6, 8-10 KJV
Notice after they leave the body is when they are present with the lord. The thief on the cross was facing imminent death yet he was promised life beyond that an appearance in paradise with Jesus.
remember Jesus said this to his disciples also
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.”
John 8:51 KJV
in fact every word we have from Jesus was spoken to his disciples the thing is they were tasked with spreading those same words to all believers
“He said that to His 12 disciples.”
yes that’s what the church is his disciples what he said to his disciples is what he says to the church
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and
teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Matthew 28:18-20 KJV
Jesus is the same as then
“Jesus Christ
the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”
Hebrews 13:8 KJV
If your wondering where Jesus is now you should t be wondering and when you realize where he is you will realize where all of his disciples are who have passed through this world into the next.
when your saying “ seems this is for David “ realize David was a prophet speaking of Christ in his psalms they are prophetic regarding Christ and the gospel here’s a good example from Peter
“Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch
David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. Therefore
being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; he
seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
This
Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
Therefore let all the house of Israel
know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.”
Acts 2:29-33, 35-36 KJV
the psalms of David are foretelling the gospel it’s important for us to grasp that because there’s so
Much understanding in the psalms and prophets here’s a few examples
“Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; Thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: Be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, And rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, When his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.”
Psalm 2:6-12 KJV
that’s about the gospel and Jesus
This again is David foreseeing Christ on the cross it’s why Jesus quotes it on the cross
“My God, my God,
why hast thou forsaken me? Why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? But I am a worm, and no man; A reproach of men, and despised of the people. All they that see me laugh me to scorn: They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,
He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: Let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.
For dogs have compassed me: The assembly of the wicked have inclosed me:
They pierced my hands and my feet. I may tell all my bones:
They look and stare upon me. They part my garments among them, And cast lots upon my vesture.”
Psalm 22:1, 6-8, 16-
they are all this way brother the psalms and prophets help us understand the gospel
every disciple who believed and has passed on through this world is with Jesus in his heavenly kingdom heaven is already new , one day the kingdom in heaven will come to earth and make it new as well
right now Christ is on the throne and his people are before his throne
“After this I beheld, and, lo, a
great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; and cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and
have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.”
Revelation 7:9-10, 14-17 KJV
in the end that kingdom is going to return to earth and usher in eternity
