How do you know?
Because there were laws back then as now. That's what our laws are based on.

Well dont you think if they had guns instead od swords the same rules would apply, just as a project for fun, take all the verses that refer to swords and shields and replace those words with guns and see what you come up with. They had swords and shields for offence and defence back then and we have guns....
I dont think the rules changed just the form of the weapon.
Don't need a gun because I have God on my side. Read Genesis 1.That might be historically true, but I still can't think of any scriptures to back up that claim.
Jesus did rebuke Peter for that act of violence.Peter had no problem cutting the ear off a soldier, and Jesus knowing he would do this sure did not stop him before he did it! (John 18:4-11!!)
Jesus did not rebuke Peter, he just told him that is enough.
Can't really go wrong with Clint Eastwood offeringsAs I just finished watching Dirty Harry, I'd like to have a 44 Magnum.
That's an alarming statistic. I don't fault people for wanting toIn the 20th century, governments have murdered more than a quarter billion of their people after disarming them.
I went through all his movies chronologically a number of years ago, being a long-time fan.I like his westerns and Dirty Harry movies. I'm watching Sudden Impact right now.
Matthew 5:38-47
Eye for Eye
38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well.
Love for Enemies
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Can't argue with that. For me, when it's my time to go, I won't complain!I wonder if everyone is forgetting that 10 out of 10 die. Keeping someone from killing another person is only prolonging the life of that person. But eventually the person will die. So the only reason I can see to stop someone from killing another person is so that the person might get a chance to accept Jesus as lord and savior.

I think that is debatable. Our laws are based on the ten commandments. I don't think our laws are based on the laws of Rome. During Jesus day, it was Rome who was ruling the Jewish people.
I would like to see some scripture for your arguments.
