“Go and make disciples of all nations.” The Great Commission is a call handed to every follower of Jesus, not just for a chosen few. It’s a call for all believers, in every church and every country, for all generations. Jesus’ command to reach the lost is as urgent today as it was for the first century Christians. Today, we’re living in exciting times, because, for the first time in history, we have the access and opportunity to see every nation, tribe, people, and language reached with the good news of Jesus in our lifetime. However, there are challenges and barriers we can only break by working together. Even today, 2000 years after the resurrection, there are still hundreds of people groups with no believers, thousands of languages with no Bible, and millions of places with no body of Christ. This means there are billions of people who will go into eternity separated from Jesus forever, unless the global church rises up and accepts the mandate we were given 2000 years ago. We’re living in a time in which communication, translation, and transportation can reach into the most isolated and ignored people on the earth.

thousands of languages with no Bible
The Bible is the most translated book in the world. This is not only impressive but proves the longevity of God’s Word. The Scripture is continually translated not only to continue the spread of the Gospel but because it is the Living Word that is still applicable today, just as it was in when penned through the inspiration of God. The Bible has been translated into numerous languages from the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek versions. As of late 2019, 698 full translations have occurred. In addition, the New Testament has been translated into additional 1,548 languages. Beyond this, portions of the Bible or stories have been translated into additional 1,138 languages.

While this is wonderful and has provided numerous people with access to at least part of the Bible, there are still over 5,000 languages that do not have a full copy of the Bible. As of 2020, there are over 6,500 languages spoken around the world. If less than 1,000 have full copies of the Bible then there is a great number that does not. Part of the Great Commission is to spread the Gospel to all corners of the earth which mean the Word still has a great deal of translation to be completed. For some, a copy of the entire Bible may not be available for many years as lengthy book translations take a great deal of time, but as they wait, translation of Bible-related texts can offer hope and share parts of the Gospel.

I applaud the effort to reach more people with the gospel. But I shudder when I look at who's involved in this and who's pushing it.

There's a lot more to discipleship than numbers. Matthew 28:20 says: "teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you;" My concern is what kind of teaching this effort is going to bring. Will it be the truth or a false gospel? From what I've seen, the people this movement reaches will be better off if they're simply given Bibles in their native languages then left alone to let the Spirit (or someone who understands the difference between truth and lies) teach them.

My gut instinct tells me there's a motivation behind this that isn't entirely altruistic. I'd also be interested to know what version of the Bible they're planning to translate. I wouldn't be surprised if they want to use the Passion Translation.

I wouldn't be surprised if they want to use the Passion Translation.
The most important problem with The Passion Translation of the Bible (TPT) is actually found in its name—
specifically, the term translation. In truth, The Passion Translation is a re-worded and re-written Bible,
apparently intended to support a particular strain of theology. If the same material was marketed as a
“commentary” or as a “study guide,” it would still be concerning. As it is, The Passion Translation cannot
honestly be called a translation or even a paraphrase. The TPT goes well beyond the idea of “translation”
and reimagines the Bible as one human author thinks it ought to be written.

The Passion Translation is primarily the work of a single author, Brian Simmons. Simmons has a long track
record as a passionate and successful missionary and evangelist. Part of his success has been in developing
translations of Scripture for people with no Bibles in their own language. However, any translation completed
by a single person raises questions of accountability. Such efforts are far more prone to personal preferences.
As it turns out, The Passion Translation of the Bible not only reflects Simmons’ New Apostolic Reformation
(NAR) theology, but it appears to be deliberately written in order to promote it.

Xavier, do yo really believe that the people who did not have access to the word of GOD will be punished for that? Where do you get this from? can you quote scriptures?

Blessings,

If you are interested in freedom from sin and how do we receive the Holy Spirit? read below.
After God gave me the Holy Spirit, I found proof that TV, movies, novels, music, video games and computer games are all sins, except Christian stuff that don’t have sins like sermons and Christian music words that gives messages. I found out that in them there is lying, stealing, adultery (Matthew 5:28 looking at someone with lust is adultery), fornication which is sex before marriage, revenge, murder, jealousy, pride=self-pity, hypocrisy, using God’s name in vain as a curse word, they are all idols (breaks 2nd Commandment) because most people can’t live without them and they love them more than God and more. Just read the 10 commandments for a list.

1 John 2:15 King James Version (KJV)

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 New King James Version

9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

Now I will be preaching about how to receive the Holy Spirit and be 100% going to Heaven.

First, it’s only by the grace of God that he gives you faith in Jesus Christ in order to give up your sins. It’s only by the grace of God that he leads you to pray to him to destroy all your evil desires of watching TV or any sinful desires. When you pray to God to destroy all your evil desires of watching TV or sinful desires (Romans 6:6-7 and Galatians 5:24), Satan will intervene and extremely tempt you in watching the TV. But if it’s God’s will and if you are one of God’s elects, you will overcome it and God will destroy all your evil desires of watching TV. After God has destroyed all your evil desires of watching TV and if you are one of God’s elects, you receive the joy of the Holy Spirit for about 40 minutes. After the joy wears off, all existence of boredom no longer exists and you no longer burn out (psychology) anymore. That is when you have received the Holy Spirit.

Then it’s by the grace of God that he forgives you of your sins, as you confess and repent of your sins throughout your life which is called sanctification. But you can watch Christian stuff that don’t have sins (Like sermons) because that helps you grow more mature as a Christian spiritually and for more information about this sermon
