Jeremiah 46:22 (NKJV)

Her noise shall go like a serpent,
For they shall march with an army
And come against her with axes,
Like those who chop wood.

TabinRivCA,
Thank you for posting your contributions here.

However, in future postings, please refrain from using versions that are viewed as guilty of "illegitimate totality transfer" like the
Amplified Bible.

Thanks again.
The Amplified Bible is *not* guilty of illegitimate totality transfer. I have been researching this topic for 2 years, collecting together various explanations and examples of this exegetical fallacy to see for myself if it is actually occuring in the Amplified Bible. I put together all the evidence for and against, comparing the AMP with other 'mainstream' versions such as the ESV, KJV, NASB, and the NIV. If you google "Context is for Kings: Is the Amplified Bible Guilty of Illegitimate Totality Transfer?" the PDF is the first search result.

Imagine my surprise to learn that the most-cited critic of the Amplified Bible was the lead New Testament scholar for Thomas
Nelson’s Expanded Bible, which according to its introduction (p. v) “allows the reader to see multiple possibilities for words, phrases,
and interpretations. Rather than opting for one choice, it shows many”(!). How is the Expanded Bible not guilty like the Amplified Bible, you ask? Well, I went straight to the horse's mouth and asked Mark Strauss to explain this self-contradiction (see pages 110-118). I asked him to provide an example where the EXB gets right what the AMP got wrong... See for yourself! :)

I do not agree, nor do I wish to discuss yours or anyone else's opinion about it here in this thread. The Amplified Bible is "viewed as being guilty of illegitimate totality transfer" and is not welcome here in this thread.

This is the Bible verse by verse thread. If you wish to open another thread to discuss the matter, I suggest you do so, but again the Amplified Bible is not welcome in this thread.

And I will deliver them into the hand of those that seek their lives, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of his servants: and afterward it shall be inhabited, as in the days of old, saith the LORD.

Jeremiah 46:28 (NKJV)
Do not fear, O Jacob My servant,” says the LORD, “For I am with you; For I will make a complete end of all the nations To which I have driven you, But I will not make a complete end of you. I will rightly correct you, For I will not leave you wholly unpunished.”

Jeremiah 47:2 (NKJV)

Thus says the Lord:

“Behold, waters rise out of the north,
And shall be an overflowing flood;
They shall overflow the land and all that is in it,
The city and those who dwell within;
Then the men shall cry,
And all the inhabitants of the land shall wail.

At the noise of the stamping hooves of his strong horses,
At the rushing of his chariots,
At the rumbling of his wheels,
The fathers will not look back for their children,

Jeremiah 47:4 (BSB)
For the day has come to destroy all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every remaining ally. Indeed, the LORD is about to destroy the Philistines, the remnant from the coasts of Caphtor.

Jeremiah 47:7 (CSB)

How can it rest when the Lord has given it a command?
He has assigned it against Ashkelon and the shore of the sea.

Jeremiah 48:1 (NKJV)

Against Moab.

Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel:

“Woe to Nebo!
For it is plundered,
Kirjathaim is shamed and taken;
[a]The high stronghold is shamed and dismayed—
