1 Cor 5:7-8 is the best imo. Christ our Paschal Lamb has been Sacrificed. Therefore, let us keep the Feast with Unleavened Bread.
1 Cor 5:7 "Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth."
Amen remember the feast of unleavened bread and it’s connection to Passover in the Old Testament also and see how they are now intertwined with spiritual significance of Christ and the gospel ?
“It is reported commonly that
there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.
Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness;
but with the
unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:”
1 Corinthians 5:1, 6-
a man among the church was commiting a terrible sin of fornication openly and the church was accepting of it. Paul was furious at them for this and was equating the situation to the leaven in bread how just allowing a little
Leaven into the bread , would ruin the whole batch because it doesn’t stay isolated it spreads to the whole batch and becomes part of the whole loaf of bread in the end you no longer have unleavened bread but it’s defiled with leaven allowed to spread.
Paul was angry not only at the man who done this thing among the brethren , but also at the church for going along with it embracing it and endorsing it not rebuking this open sin privately first with a witness , and then among the church . Instead they just accepted and acted as if it was fine.
I suspect there was a lot of talk among the Corinthians about how “ grace covers your ongoing sin while you are enjoying its pleasures and not repenting “ who are we to say anything ? We’re all saved by grace there are no rules “
In this kind of a church no one really is going to ever take notice of how we are actually living and speaking and that we’re going to be held to this account. Even the leaders teach there really are no limits or rules that apply to you because of grace. So no ones ever going to have the anger and judgement coming out of Paul when he heard of this terrible thing going on in his beloved jewel at Corinth
Paul sets a lot of guards against this type of thinking in his epistles but we try to remove what doesn’t fit what we’ve been told by a modern preacher about grace
“For
we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that
every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.”
2 Corinthians 5:10-11 KJV
While we’re in this body we’re being judged for what we do and say in this body, we can repent when we do wrong and receive remission of sins now or move on like it’s acceptable when we leave this body we have to do what it says there and answer for all we’ve done good and bad.
“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but
after this the judgment:”
Hebrews 9:27 KJV
“But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for
we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, And
every tongue shall confess to God. So then
every one of us shall give account of himself to God.”
Romans 14:10-12 KJV
We can start now repenting and giving account of our sins and having them forgiven and keeping account daily of how we’re actually living letting ourselves be judged now in life.
ridding ourselves of the old leaven and embracing pursuing and developing and also protecting the new.
“Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have
put off the old man with his deeds; ( old leaven )
and have
put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:”( new lump of dough )
Colossians 3:9-10 KJV
To make the decision Gods word has all the right thinking , and some of mine isn’t right yet and let his word correct us becomes our place
“So then
faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by
the word of God.”
Romans 10:17
“For I am not ashamed of
the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the
Jew first, and also to the
Greek. For therein is
the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”
Romans 1:16-17
It’s revealed as we learn and hear the gospel more and more through our lives as we age and grow we start to understand things we didn’t before always were far from perfect but always like children we grow , learn lessons , suffer consequences , do better and grow up in time.
the new doctrine is unleavened , the old doctrine has some leaven in it and is hidden by a veil
