You're thinking of it as either/or: either you have faith or you have intellect; but the two work together. The Holy Spirit communicates the truth to our mind. God gave each of us a mind and He expects us to use it; not without Him though, of course.
If you want to toss out your intellect then by all means go right ahead. But I can tell you that's some shifting sand I wouldn't want to be on.
"Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth."—Colossians 3:2
"Jesus said to him, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' "—Matthew 22:37
"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and well pleasing and perfect will of God."—Romans 12:2
It is NOT a either/or and i never said that, but it is before the LORD.
Here is Holy Spirit wisdom in the things of God that i have been sharing:
#1. "the LORD never set before us a path of intellectualism that, by itself, leads us to Eternal LIFE = the Holy Spirit.
#2. "the FACT that i can understand Scripture and your posts and the error of your posts shows forth these immutable Truths.
God created man to have thought/intellect/decision making abilities.
Man's intellect became contaminated by and thru sin, this is what we were conceived and born into this world in, and were educated in = thus the Scripture says: "
do not be conformed to this world, but
be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what
is that good and acceptable and
perfect will of God. " Romans 12:2
#3. religion is outward, relies on the intellect, and is conformed to this world with the guise of spirituality.
#4.
being conformed to the Mind of Christ means our
intellect bows the knee and
submits unto Christ
#5. the evidence of a mind that is not submitted to Christ is one that argues against Scripture, puffs oneself up
whereby they 'assume' they are being patronized because they assume their intellect is above others.
#6. religion loves and operates under intellectual prowess, in which many submit to and admire = respect of persons
#7. God frowns on point #6 = "But HE gives more grace. Therefore HE says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”
AGAIN - it is not by intellect that the Holy Spirit placed this understanding in 1 Corinthians
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
For it is written:
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”
Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.
For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom;
but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
