I have moved on to Matthew chapter 3. I have found the best thing. Biblehub.com with the Strong's concordance, it brakes down every verse. I feel like a kid in the candy store.
Verse 1. In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,
Verse 2.And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Verse 2 Meaning: Repent “thank differently;” Why? The Kingdom “royalty i.e. rule or realm” Of heaven “happiness, power, eternity, specially the gospel” Is at hand “is near = approach”
Verse 3. For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
Verse 3 Meaning: Esias “Isiah” The voice: “John addressing the world” Prepare “make ready” The Way “ a way, road, journey, by implication a process” Ye “ You, me everyone of us as individuals. I almost over looked that little word” The Lord “the master” Make “I make, manufacture, B.I do, act, or cause” His “Jesus” Paths “A worn paths, beaten way, road or highway. Straight “Straight, level, or true.
Here is why I like this: I would never come up with this interpretation of these verses without the definitions. Tell me if you thank this is right.
John the Baptist comes out of the wilderness telling people to change there ways because the ruler of the kingdom of heaven, power, eternity, and the gospel is coming, He is on the way. John's message is repent, change your ways, for this one that is coming is the one spoken of by Isiah. We have to make a straight and true path of rightness in order to be ready to meat him.
