do you reject Psalm 27?
typo sorry i was reading Psalm 27 earlier for possibly unrelated reasons.

do you reject Psalm 42 @DanielLL ?

your reply seemed to utterly ignore its existence, even though i specifically brought it to your remembrance :)
i am puzzled as to why you would pretend there is no such thing as Psalm 42?

If it weren’t for the few good people I know who happen to believe in flat earth, I would be publicly calling this a troll thread.
Curious - are you talking about real life people or CC people?

Do you know some FEers IRL?

I am just about ready myself to declare 'troll' on this thread - this is rediculous!

The FE topic seems to provoke the worst in people - I wish folks could/would discuss it without getting twisted into a knot...

The OP has an attitude...

The folks who disagree with him have an attitude...

Good grief, people - this is supposed to be a bible study discussion on the 'firmament'.

How about cooling your jets!

Discuss the subject without trying to beat each other over the head with it...

Put your knives away and stop trying to cut each other down...

I think this topic has lost its innocence long ago. People who know about it have strong opinions and feelings about it one way or another, but you're right. I'll be unwatching this thread now. Carry on and sorry if I caused you any problems.

Why not do an actual EXPERIMENT that you can test to see if your interpretation is correct or not???

(Foucaults Pendulum, Coriolis)

These experiments show that the Earth is rotating.

Once that little domino falls maybe all the rest will, too?
The Ball Earth dominoes have already fallen down... :geek:

That's been my whole point this whole time.

Why should we take your opinion of scripture(witness of men), when we can VERIFY for ourselves what scripture is saying and not saying?
He is comparing scripture to modern science - which is the 'witness of men' in that context.

You are comparing your 'opinion' / 'interpretation' to his.

Apples and Oranges.

That would require him leaving his mom’s basement.
Why belittle him?

For having a different opinion or viewpoint?

I don't particularly agree with his approach (in part) - but, I have tried to stick to what he has presented without making any personal attacks, etc.

Don't you normally admonish folks to not make this kind of remark toward others - or, am I thinking of someone else?

If so, then...

"It only proves you are human." ;)

Nonetheless, brother - how ought we to walk...?

@DanielLL - a little advice...

Don't be proud. Don't be pushy.

Cognitive Dissonance is a very powerful thing.

Reactionary emotional pride-based response does not listen to anything - it is too busy being caught up in the pain-and-confusion aspect of the impact.

Preach less. Teach more.

@DanielLL - remember this:

When God shows folks the truth - jaws will drop, and they will finally understand and be amazed at just how extensive the deception really is... ;)(y):giggle::whistle:
Rest comfortably in the knowledge that God will correct everything in due time.

Until then, everyone is entitled to their own opinion...

No. You can't answer, can you? That's fine.
what if Proverbs 8 speaks of 2 deeps, and the equidistant set of points around you marks their visible intersection, to wit, the horizon?
and Psalm 42 speaks of the flood - when the waters above and the waters beneath broke forth?

does that mean the sky is flat?

But this proves flat earth. Because sound waves cannot circle around a sphere, sound waves are not affected by gravity neither do they change their trajectory, the sound waves traveled straight above the flat plane. Then they hit the firmament and bounce back.

Daniel you replied in re:

Here are a couple of articles discussing the soundwaves from the 1883 explosion of Krakatoa, the earlier claims the sound circled the globe 4x and the more recent claims 3x circling the globe before "petering out."
The Sound So Loud That It Circled the Earth Four Times
The Loudest Sound Ever Recorded

In this case, the circling enveloped all directions
if you read the article you will see that in places all over the world the shock wave of the Krakatoa eruption was observed several times with a definite periodicity:

"Amazingly, for as many as five days after the explosion, weather stations in 50 cities around the globe observed this unprecedented spike in pressure recurring like clockwork, approximately every 34 hours."
if what you are saying is correct, this is impossible. if the world was a pancake with a fishbowl glued on top, the sound waves bouncing off the glass and returning, then each of the 50 cities all over the world that independently observed the pressure wave would have recorded a different periodicity.
if you were close to the southern rim of the fishtank, the wave would pass you, hit the great wall, and then pass you again a short time later. then much later you'd get the wave returning from the other side of the bowl. you would not have a regular 34-hour oscillation.
moreover since Krakatoa is not located precisely at the north pole, in a fishbowl model like you are arguing for, the pressure wave would not be a standing wave at all - the distance to the edge of the cereal bowl would be different in every direction, so the wave would just interfere with itself chaotically after reflecting from the rim.
only if Krakatoa is exactly at the center of the goldfish tank, or on a planet where there is no artificial fishtank wall for the wave to rebound off of would the whole earth have experienced the regular, repeating shockwave of that that enormous eruption.

the evidence shows the frisbee-planet model is clearly incorrect, @DanielLL

because Krakatoa is not the north pole, Krakatoa proves the world is a globe.
God did that; it's His planet. it's His universe.
He doesn't lie.

He has demonstrated that he is stubbornly resistant to learning and convinced he alone can understand Scripture. It has nothing to do with his view on this matter.

I am comparing FACTS to his opinion.

Same as Witness of God compared to our opinion.

Science isn't always wrong. Facts, any facts, corroborate the Witness of God. Always. In All ways.
