Been binging on X-Files re-runs recently. The first nine seasons I dug. That 9th season was truly climactic. But, I think they ruined it with the additional seasons put on in 2016-2018. Mulder became a reflection of Hollywood "values", and the writing became almost silly compared to its dark seriousness of the '90s and early 2000s. And what happened to the romance between those two?

Anyway, anyone know of new Star Trek or Star Wars developments? I know there's a new JP movie coming out this year.

Love,

Hello Love! I know a guy from Australia that just might help. He builds anything from complicated furniture to really easy tasks and uses all hand tools. The man's name is Steve Hay and he runs a woodworkers master class on line or in person, however I don't know where he's located. I'll leave you a link. You don't have to spend a fortune on tools. More than half my stuff came from ebay or flea markets or garage sales for half or less the price of new. Also you'd be surprised in how little a space you need. Steve actually put out a video about a year or more ago where he set up a little shop right in the corner of his living room! I don't think his wife liked it. He's been around doing videos for a long time.

Here's his link. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCamxdpLgM4yPF5fgxzG2y5g
Thanks for the link 17Bees. I had a quick look so far and will look at one of his videos later. I am in the beginning stages of moving o_Oo_Oo_O
I looked up Steve and he lives in Queensland which is east of Aus. I live in the west which is a shame as I would love to attend one of his workshops to learn the basics.

I am interested in learning just the basic things like making a veggie box out of pallets or something. Then you can put wheels and wheel it around and follow the sun if you have alot of shading in your yard. If you add a handle you can use it like a wheelbarrow and wheel it wherever you like. I have plenty of ideas I would like to try out.

I once posted an add on facebook in my area to enquire whether there was any mens shed that were open to women joining. I ended up getting over a hundred replies mostly from other women who were also keen on the idea. A few comments were from men who said the only time women should be allowed to enter a mens shed was to provide lunch or clean up. Then a few women were upset with me for distinguishing between men and women and thought it was better to call it "people's shed" and wanted to know why I was asking for a male instructor and not a woman one. Then the LGBT people commented and a woman who was a queer witch (she called herself that) got involved and the whole post just went downhill. Amazing how a post that started off positive went so quickly downhill. Anyways nothing came of it. So I am still searching for how to make simple things out of wood from somebody who has the time (male, female, LGBT or anyone else who has the skills).

Anyways thanks for your reply and info.

Do you remember the movie "Legend" ?
There are two (I had to look it up ;):D) I started the more recent one at some point but don't think I ever finished it, and the one with Tom Cruise doesn't really ring a bell, though that could just be because it may not have been very memorable for me... oh, that must be the one you mean LOL "A demon who seeks to create eternal night by destroying the last of the unicorns and marrying a fairy Princess."

I think you would like the Tom Cruse one, it's very "vivid"! And Tim Curry plays a very impressive devil

Thank you for the recommendation :) I'll see if I can find it...

I used to almost always put some kind of equine on my earlier panels... horse, Pegasus, or unicorn...
didn't matter to me LOL. You can tell my earlier stuff by that, and the really early stuff was all purples.
I recently designed one with horses on it... must be making up for not having done that for a while :giggle:

Although there is a horse shield on this one :)

The Coming of Christ
11And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. 12His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many crowns; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. 13He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. 15From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will [e]rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the [f]wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. 16And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written: “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”

It's fun trying...
Everyone has their own unique style and look to their craft.
My father's leather craft is not the same as mine. Not saying that mine is better or that his is better...they are just different and appealing to different audiences.

Draw out on graph paper what you are looking to make.
Draw it from the top to down, bottom to up, left to right and right to left.

thats the place to really start.

then there's the fasteners and joints.
do you want them hidden or shown?
there's a ton of options for this. You can engineer this any way you want. Just include that into your drawing.

the materials used can be the star and highlighted or the shapes and look can be the highlight. Or a blend of the two.
and as always...start with something simple and easy... building your skills to the final masterpiece.

even painters did that. They made dozens of small paintings called studies before they created their masterpiece as a collection of the same studies that they had already made. The same thing applies here.

i do the same thing with leather. I make study pieces before I start on a large project. Works like a charm.

Do you make concealed holsters?

Do you make concealed holsters?
Nope.
I generally don't do holsters. I make notebooks, purses, pouches, and friction held sleeves.

I go hunting and target shooting for fun. But just don't do any sort of gun work. Besides...there is some new tech with all that which makes custom work obsolete at the moment. They really grip a gun and hold it without scratching it even if you are hung up by your heels.
