I was working on a donated pickup truck and finally got it started and found the oil leak and it started and was running better than ever and I thought I had it fixed. So I drove it into another field where I feel safer and the motor ran out of oil just as I parked. I'm discouraged after all my hard work that such another major obstacle would happen and wondering what God wants me to do. It's probably the be worst situation of my life. Winter came back, the snow is drifting around my truck and I'm stuck sleeping in the truck because my bank account got hit by creditors overnight when I was trying to have fun in a hotel and find a lady to have lunch with. I ended up walking half the night until I finally got a ride. I was grateful for the ride, but don't understand why this is happening. I looked on the internet and saw that I'm doing the right things to free the motor which lifted my spirits because I was getting depressed after all that hard work. What on earth could the Lord be trying to help me understand?

This is an unforgiving place and I no longer enjoy living here, but the frontier has advantages. Family, friends and neighbors have have been trying to help with rides and loans, but I don't know why I'm suffering like this. I'm someone who doesn't like to give up, so it's important to have success. It's also a matter of survival to have transportation here. Now it's 10PM and too late to catch a ride into town.
So I thought I'd just think of things to be thankful for:

1). I have enough strength and understanding to fix the problem.
2) I have a phone.
3) I'm a Christian with spiritual gifts inspite of feeling discouraged.
4) I'm fairly healthy for my age.
5) I'm helping to free people by caring enough to share truth about the world and the Bible and to go out of my way to help others.
6) I've got $17 in the bank for coffee.
7) I know the storm will be over soon and it's much warmer than a couple weeks ago.
8) God is still winning inspite of a stalled truck.
9) my life may be stalled but the Covenant of Grace is not stalled.
10) the Lord is not stalled out
that's enough for now but

Yeah, thanks to you both. I remember you... I was just looking for the right opportunity to get involved with chat again. It's much warmer weather and the storm let up. It's amazing how weather can go from winter to warm so fast. A winter blizzard stopped and now it's warmer. There's a couple feet of snow drifted around my truck but I know what to do to fix it. I can think of more fun things to do than free a stuck motor. Can you believe that? I got the dang thing started and it was running better than ever then it ran out of oil and quit. But I'm feeling better. I'm gonna try and get a hotel room tomorrow. I'm sure the truck will start once I turn it manually and put oil in it. A mechanic said to put transmission fluid into the cylinders. Others say let it soak in diesel for a week. Since I found the oil leak being the backyard mechanic genius I am, even though I hate working on cars and hate this god-forsaken frozen wasteland that president Lincoln and Seward should have given to Hawaii islanders or Mexicans or Indians and Eskimos, since you need to dress for a space walk just to keep from freezing your hat off. The Eskimos and Special ops and the National Guard are the only ones who can survive here besides Admiral Byrd and Mongolian Sherpas who take people up Mount Everest and Chinese skiers and winter survivalist deranged types who get off on eating worms to survive and rats. They can have it. More power to em and that deranged woman on TV who lives alone with reindeer and Jewels insane family who is always 3 feet from tumbling a dozer over a cliff for a reality show while she makes music with nutcases like Cheryl Crow and yodels from the mental health ward. Yeah welcome to Alaska where you have 3 weeks of summer to take your family fishing before the winter ocean fishing starts where you pay $300 to freeze your hat off at sea and scrape ice off the boat so it doesn't sink - tourism is going to soar after Canada border guards get drunk off Canadian beer and close the highway until they can confiscate a shipment of marijuana from Mexico.... Yes indeed, this is why I love the north country!

Was it the one where an older couple who had spent many years developing their
isolated property were looking for a younger/more capable couple to take it over?

I was thinking about moving there but hit all manner of roadblocks. Lucky me. I think the Russians will take it back one of these days.

I watched the documentary.
- 'Life Below Zero'
It is about people..daily activities/struggle..
- living in remote/secluded areas of Alaska.

That's common here. Survival on the frontier takes a lot of motivation. Many people move from northern climates - the cold wears on the soul.

The ranting is one way i cope. It's kind of close to la la land to start laughing hysterically about such madness!
Don't give up on this beautiful place and everything south and east in Canada. It's quite an adventure when well planned out. I don't hate it here I'm just getting too much older to endure it for long. Most people are good for a few years. There's nothing like this amazing frontier.

Sorry I left the forum for so long. Just trying to make ends meet and I wanted to show up under the flag of Canada. But that will take time. Can't just show up and say, "ok, I'm Canadian now." I have Canadian roots though for sure. This is a very unsettled and volatile place just like the climate and geography and geology. But it made me who I am.
