Biblically how many times should someone be baptized after being a believer?
Biblically how many times should someone be baptized after being a believer?
1. The Holy Spirit baptises us into Christ
2. If we will ask, Christ baptises us in the Holy Spirit
3. We should be baptised in water.
Only the first baptism, into Christ, is involuntary. We must choose Spirit and Water baptism.
Are you thinking of Hebrews chapter 6?Ephesians 4:5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism.
There's one true baptism, one that unites us with Christ. That said, I was baptized as a baby, but I didn't feel that was the true baptism because I didn't have any understanding of what was going on, and it wasn't my decision, so i was baptized again by full immersion when I was 11.
I believe there's a scripture that says being baptized is like killing Jesus again, but I can't find it, so maybe I'm wrong.

Precious friend, A Very Warm Welcome to Chat. Biblically? = ZERO! ie:Biblically how many times should someone be baptized after being a believer?
We get the most important baptism the instant we yield body and soul to Jesus. This is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. All other baptisms after this are done as signs, symbols, and remembrances pointing back to that original baptism of the Holy Spirit. They are an outward sign pointing back to an inward change. They are not critical to maintaining your salvation. Salvation is a very simple thing since Jesus shed His blood for us on the Cross.Biblically how many times should someone be baptized after being a believer?
In the words of Jesus Christ
Act 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
The word but is a contrasting conjunction, it sets in opposition that which was previously spoken.
In simple terms ….when the greater came …the lesser was done away with.
Water today is…. a feel good symbolic performance …basically, symbolism over substance. It doesn’t hurt, it doesn’t help, it doesn’t change a thing...spiritually, with God.
As XmasBaby stated in Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
Either God means what He says, or He doesn’t.
When God says ONE, He means one. He does not mean 1 with provisions. There are some who try to split the one to mean…. you are baptized in and…. then you are baptized with….No!…. one is 1….. And although “Three Dog Night” said it was the loneliest number ….it is not! because it puts you in an exclusive membership…. The One body of Christ.
Anyone who was baptized as an infant should disregard that. Believers are to be baptized only once, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. And since water baptism is symbolic of death, burial, and resurrection, it must be by immersion.Biblically how many times should someone be baptized after being a believer?
I haven’t read any of your other posts but I really like the way you think here and it makes a lot of sense to me. Thanks for laying out the thought process and how you arrived to your conclusion. Totally agreed btw.
Luke 11:13 "Give the Holy Spirit to those who ask".Can you post scripture to back #2? Thanks.
Being "born of" something is not the same thing as being "immersed in" something.
Being 'born again' is 'spiritual'.
Being 'baptized' in water is 'physical'.
The two do not mix.
Related - yes. Same thing - no.
In 1 Corinthians 12:13, the word 'baptized' - meaning 'immersed' - is referring to our inclusion / insertion / integration into the body of Christ.
Even then, that itself is not 'born of' or 'born again' - it is a kind of aftermath / outcome / result of being born-again.
Being 'born again' is one thing only - receiving the Holy Spirit of God - being 'indwelt' by the Holy Spirit.
These 4 things are different:
1) indwelling of the HS
2) baptism by the HS
3) baptism of the HS
4) filled with the HS
#1 & #2 are very closely associated.
#2 is a direct result of #1 - but, is not [identically] the same thing.
What the verse is saying is that - by-and-because-of the Holy Spirit (indwelling us) - we are all made a part of the body of Christ.
In-of-itself, [this verse] has absolutely nothing [directly] to do with water baptism.
Did I say anything about it being 'irrelevant'?the apostles must not have known that water baptism was irrelevant
the apostles must not have known that water baptism was irrelevant
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. …..Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
….And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.”
Acts 10:44, 47-48
To have faith we need hear something and believe it then we have a reason to act on it. like this
“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,
and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”
Acts 2:38, 40-41
if we reject it and explain why it doesn’t apply it’s because we don’t believe it is true. Look at this fellow he was a believer
“Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.”
Acts 8:35-38 KJV
it seems like either the Bible is teaching irrelevant doctrine that we should reject or we should believe it and get baptized for the remission of sins in christs name through his death for our sins
“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.”
Romans 6:3-4, 6 KJV
Receiving the holy spirit is a gift given by Jesus it’s what he promised them . Water baptism is what God said to do in christs name and he would remit our sins because we’re acting on his promise to do so ( faith )
there’s a relationship for certain we need to receive the holy spirit and get baptized in water for remission of sins in his name
“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
John 3:5 KJV
