Abe did it twice...the Just Man does it 7 times or more. What's your point?

Look, does a child who stumbles while learning to walk get slapped across the room and abandoned by a stern, angry father, or does the father bend down smiling to wipe away the child's tears and to pick him up and encourage him to keep trying?

The only need for a OSAS License to Sin is for those who choose to not learn to be obedient, because those of us in the Conditional Salvation crowd not only want to learn, but we show up for class on time.
Conditional salvation ... the only condition is believe.

Yes you are. You say if we break Moses' law we cannot go to heaven. You will deceitfully say that it is God's commandments not Moses which we must not break. God gave His commandments through Moses.

God's message to you is "My son give Me thine heart" but that is what you don't want to do. You do not want Him writing His commands upon your heart which He does by the Holy Spirit. You never speak of the indwelling life of Christ.
I never said anything of the kind. Please pay very close attention so you can be absolutely clear about my position: The saint will go to hell because he chose to no longer abide in the Vine; he chose to no longer continue in His Word; he chose to no longer say, "not my will, but Thine"

The CHOICE we make is what determines our fate - obedience or sin simply reveals our spiritual state.

We clear on that now?

yes

in Christ God sees us as sinless...righteous, meaning we are in right standing with God

in the flesh, we will still sin sometimes

do you have scripture that states otherwise? why did Christ have to die if we can become sinless as we imagine that to be

again...perhaps you would like to address the following I already asked you...you cannot expect others to simply follow your lead and your quips. that, is not a discussion

so

are you yet holy? sinless? shining with the glory of God like Moses? you never sin?

how can we come before God if we are not these things ?
Oh! wow!! This is the much I can say.

Ephesians 4:24
put on the new man, created in righteousness and true holiness...we were originally created in the image of God and this is God's re-creation in His image...the new man is the saved man in Christ. not our righteousness as scripture tells us, but with the righteousness of God IN Christ Jesus

IN Christ we are righteous. our spirits are now righteous with the righteousness of God. our flesh will die and we will receive new bodies, but we are still on this earth

stop thinking of yourself as a sinner saved by grace or, for that matter, a sinner who has some kind of righteousness of their own

everything

EVERYTHING

that is of worth, holy, righteous and sinless is ONLY because of our life in Christ and nothing we can say or do outside of that counts for any sort of salvation or holiness whatsoever
That you are not holy and see no reason to be, does not mean there are not people in this world who are or striving to reach the measure of the stature of the standard of Christ, to be Christlike as the scripture enjoins us to be.

here is a post from infinite that indicates he cannot actually define or express what a Christian is: (thread)

he also declares that he was born a Christian and has remained a Christian (bio personal page)

no one is born a Christian. Christianity is not defined as a religion except by those who view it as such

so, perhaps we should ask you infinite, how does a person become a Christian?
OMG! Do I have to tell you that Christianity "in its simplest form," is all about followership. What did Jesus say of himself? I am the light of the world, he that follows me shall not work in darkness but shall have the light of life. (John 8:12).

His disciples followed him throughout his earthly life, heard him teach and preach and saw his works and testified of him in their writings for our learning so that we can believe and trust him. Jesus said to them, you also shall bear witness because you have been with me from the beginning. (John 15:27). These disciples have written the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ confirming his words and works. They were his followers.!

He consecrated and declared a new way of life which we are following as his disciples. Disciples are his dedicated followers.

The Israelites of old believed Moses and therefore subjected themselves to his leadership. It is necessary and paramount for the followership to believe in the leadership to be able to willingly follow the vision of the leader. But, Jesus even said, even if we do not believe in him, we should at least believe in the works he has done for the works testify of him and of course will convince us otherwise. Can you see the correlation? Call it the elementary reason why we need to believe in him. If you do not believe in him, you can not willingly be his follower, and cannot key into his gospel. His disciples are his dedicated followers because they believed and trusted him. So, believers in Christ are followers of Christ.

On the issue of being born a Christian. it looks as if your memory has failed you. We have gone through this lane before. You may wish to go through your previous posts on our "conversation" on it. I do not wish to revisit it here or in any other post.

I am going to ask a couple of questions I am sure will not be answered.
Did David lose his salvation when committed adultery with Bathsheba?
Did Peter lose his salvation when he denied Jesus?
A what point does a person lose his salvation? Can you know that point?
Surely if salvation can be lost, there must be a point stated in Scripture that one would know.
When David's sin was made known to him, he sincerely repented and never committed that sin again. OR did he? He was however punished for allowing sin multiply in him. The minimum standard is to confess and repent of sins when it comes to our knowledge.

When Peter realized his error, he wept bitterly. Did he ever betray him again? No, because he sincerely repented of his wrong doing. We are given the grace of repentance and forgiveness of sins.

It is only God that knows the heart of man, and, to whom the Holy Spirit reveals it to. But, one thing is clear in the scripture, if the righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits sin, his righteousness shall not be remembered, for in his sin shall he die. If he realizes his error and repents, he shall be welcomed back with love just like the Prodigal son in the parable of the Prodigal son.

The people you mentioned sinned and repented and remained in "the good books of Life". Jesus tells us as he told the woman caught in adultery, - go and sin no more.

Of course. If you are your father's son, nothing can change that. Similarly if one is a child of God nothing can change that, since no one can be "unborn". Even little children understand these elementary truths. A genuine Christian is a child of God, and therefore must live like one. If someone is not living soberly, righteously, and godly, then that person is NOT a child of God. He or she may claim to be "Christian" but that is self-deception.

Since OSAS has come up, let's call it a misnomer. The correct term is "the eternal security of the believer" (not the pretender). The Bible is very clear that every child of God is eternally secure in Christ. No one "loses" their salvation, since those who seem to do so were never saved to begin with. And Paul even called the carnal among the Corinthians "saints" (sanctified ones): Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called [to be] saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

Just ignore "to be" which is in italics but not in the text. "Called saints" is what Paul said/
Yes, you are your father's son, but your father can disinherit you for lack of relationship or lifestyle choices. And when this happens, you can not truly say that your father recognized you as his son in the real sense of it. Or else, he would not have disinherited you.

Why should I ignore the words -to be? Is it because it does not give credence to your meaning.. Well, to me, whether we take it out or not, it means the same. It is noteworthy, Paul believed that though, these converts are sanctified in Christ Jesus. they are not automatically saints. Even, in situations where they are called saints, they are saints by faith. Sanctification is a process. Therefore, they have to live the life of saints to produce "saintly" fruits of good works. We see Paul praying for the saints in Colosse that they might be filled with the knowledge of his (God's) will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. That they may walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in all good works, and increasing in the knowledge of God , strengthened with all might according to his glorious power unto all patience, longsuffering with joyfulness etc . This is to enable and empower them live in the way and manner of saints.

He told the Roman " saints" -- if any of them has not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Recall that these are the saints who are sanctified in Christ Jesus. Since they are Paul's converts, it would be assumed correctly that at the time they converted and, believed, they must have received the holy Spirit and sealed as well. But, here Paul is portraying the fact that it is possible not to continue to have this Spirit of Christ in them. They can be found wanting. The scripture says quench not the Spirit. Can you rightly say that Paul did not regard them as true believers in the first place as you seem to portray in your post?

He told the Colossians that Christ has reconciled them in the body of his flesh through death, to present them holy and unblamable and unreproveable in his sight -- if they continue in the faith grounded and settled and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel which they have heard and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven ----------do you notice that proviso"" if they continue ------ what does that tell you?

God's salvation for mankind is eternal and offers eternal security for all who do the will of the Father which is in heaven. Paul shows in his epistles and the scripture generally shows that a believer can loose his stand in God by his choice of deeds if he stops walking in the light of God until he changes his way and comes back to the light.

We are not saved by keeping the commandments ... the commandments are not given for to save anyone. Nor is our salvation affected by either the keeping or not of commandments.

Let's be absolutely clear

The scripture says nothing about us choosing to remain abiding in the Vine, choosing to no longer continuing in His word or choosing to no longer saying "not my will but Thine"

What it does say is when Jesus prayed and said "Father of the men Thou hast given Me not one is lost except the son of perdition..." Judas never was saved.

What it does say is that the Good Shepherd having 100 sheep if one strays goes after the lost one and finds him and carries him home on His shoulders rejoicing"

Jesus has a 100% record.

it's almost as if you have to beat the truth out of people

maybe we should flog ourselves or become ascetics so avoid the wrath of God

that is the conclusion someone might come to if all they read was about sin and punishment

since we cannot just stop sinning with never a sin again, then surely there must be an answer if God expects holiness

you would think
Even in the wrath of God is his love.

Dear Blain

I disagree. The church needs to get back to the One who died for it. The church is the Body of our Savior and it is badly hurt and crippled.

You cannot see the church grow...take into account this entire world. Do you think those who suffer punishment and death because they believe in Jesus need to be pounded with scripture on sin? God loves the entire world and not just the USA.

I don't think you are going to change your view. For some reason you are persuaded that sin talk is going to bring about the next big spiritual whatever and that is not going to happen.

I won't say more but I have not said what I would like to say

I cannot figure why someone would gloss over all that we are in Christ and prefer to talk about sin sin sin as though God had not made the remedy for what the devil likes to deliver and concentrate on

I disagree more than I am free to say. but you have assuaged something you are not aware of.
God has made the remedy and says you can now overcome sin and you are saying it is impossible for you to overcome sin. Who is in the wrong here?

Yes, you are your father's son, but your father can disinherit you for lack of relationship or lifestyle choices.
But you still remain his son biologically. And children of God remain children of God through the New Birth. And God does not "disinherit" His children. Rather He chastises them.

But you insist upon going back to the ones written in ink and upon tables of stone. It is was I said
your obedience is outward not inward. You never speak of the indwelling Christ or the new birth.
We, too, have believed in Christ Jesus, that we may be justified by faith in Christ
and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.

you should not be so hung up on sin if yours are forgiven

you should also not stick your nose into the sins of others unless you are prepared to engage in spiritual warfare on their account
