I count freewill being in the Bible only four times in KJV, as a free will gift offering to the LORD. NIV has the same 22 times. The words are not used in any other context. Having said that, it is apparent to me that people conflate making choices with having free will... and yet, it is not the same thing. Perhaps it is too fine a distinction for many to make?
great

Thank you very much Magenta. Charmed I'm sure.

I read your point about [the] free will (volition) and your preferred use of [the] Self will in the thread somewhere whilst I was reading it several days ago. Just as here - it makes me think - but not sure how to express it for now. God Bless sister.
freewill is self will and an overwhelming chunk of christian endeavour and discipleship is self will, there was no call, no unction.

I don't condemn it, I am not a fierce critic of the church as some are, I'm just stating it as a fact.

Lol. I have always believed God wants people to turn to him with a willing heart.
He said " I stand at the door and knock if ANY WILL ANSWER ,then we will sup with him and he with us

I looked up the term free will and it's definition to see exactly what God wants. ( in the bible not someone's opionon. )
People need to get serious about what it says and lay off ,I want it to say this........it's about to come to an end ,then it WILL BE TOO LATE TO CHOOSE YOUR DESTINATION.

I would hate to think I HAD TO SERVE GOD BY FORCE! Instead his LOVE overwhelmed me,by exposing who I was , I became clay in the Master's hands.

Someday people will regret not standing in the word but leaning on self and others. It is plain.....whosoever will .....LET HIM COME.
God wills IN US to do of His good pleasure. THAT'S what the bible says. Paul said he had no choice but to preach the gospel.

God does not force anyone, when He speaks we recognise the Father's voice and we obey.

When mama duck quacks her little chicks fly to her bosom ... most natural thing in the world .... the crows don't fly to her bosom.

You're pretty well rounded brother. I can see that. I find it quite helpful to read through these many threads. I don't know if its something in me lately - but I am finding some genuinely valuable insights - in fact its rather peculiar because I can see many of the points I have made myself in the past popping up and then seeing the way the poster handles the flack. Thats the benefit of learning from one another's walk. God Bless.

I ask your forgiveness as well,I'm sorry for being antagonistic towards you.

I'm still ,every day " working out my own salvation with fear and trembling".

When I stand before our Lord, for I have no right to decide who is or isn't, I want my account to be as clean as lambs wool by giving into the Spirit for correction.
I am used to flak :)

Nobody chooses to be born, what colour eyes or hair they will have, where they will be born, how tall, rich or poor.

... nobody becomes angry at that.

They fly to her chicks.

Thats when a prophet comes in handy. He just decks the crow.

On the other hand sometimes the mother wins all by her self. Now that should cheer everyone up no end.

Billy Graham did not believe this heresy of "WIDER MERCY" which is nothing more than religious universalism.
The word of Jesus MUST be preached and HEARD!

This says that a person does NOT have to have heard of Jesus and his salvation and does NOT know him but can worship budda,Hinduism, ect,ect as long as they are SINCERE in their beliefs,he will will give them status...... poppycock, bull here View attachment 236497 sy.
numberless multitudes of good soul winning christians have a problem believing that BILLIONS of human souls will end up in eternal pain and sorrow. They feel in their guts that it can't be so.

But they can't see any alternative in scripture ... I can.

Many good soul winning christians find warning about hell difficult ... I don't, the wicked will go to hell. I find it easy to preach [although I don't major on that topic.] because I believe in a much wider mercy than most evangelicals teach.

Is the premise in red answered by the argument in blue?

Or do you have a more doctrinal and formal way of expressing the same inference. I suppose on my reading the inference is that if we preached the full gospel then many more would be saved.

I guess I'll have to do a new blog, it will be full of contention because christians have believed [in my judgement of course] the wrong things for so many centuries.

The doctrine of the last judgement and eternal destinies was formed at the time when the [Catholic] church was working in cahoots with the Roman empire which was intent upon conquering the whole world. You were either Roman and christian or barbarian and certain scriptures were translated [by St Jerome] in that mind frame ... Many teachings of the so - called Fathers escaped the Reformation and have carried through to the Protestant church, like amillenialism and the future of the Jews. Eternal destinies is another.

I did wonder if there would be a more detailed teaching - removing Universalism as a stated doctrine - but inclusivity as a broader grace to favour precept. Tag me in - I would enjoy reading that, brother.

"They can’t see any alternative in scripture. I can". Enlighten us ! Scripture and Verse. Please. You may be accountable for millions if not billions lost if you don’t share this secret revelation. Don’t want that for you . To be accountable for burying your talent in the earth. Where might I find the scripture or scriptures to validate this important revelation. What is this alternative you see , from what scripture(s) ?

Far be it for me to speak for another member - but @#49 in this thread @Evmur laid down a similar claim. So why don't we let him share freely in his own time and not try to corral him into a box. A secret revelation you say - secrets are for witches who are without hope if they do not repent - and children who are innocent and more fitted for the kingdom of heaven than many of us.

So to quote the brother @#49

I believe in what is called THE WIDER MERCY that is to say that a very great many more people will find mercy on that day than is commonly supposed by evangelical christians [I am evangelical] mebbe I'll make a blog post about it to show scripturally [for we must stick like glue to scripture] how certain doctrines concerning the last judgement can be understood differently to show that The Father's house will indeed be packed to the rafters and that the redeemed will be a vast multitude which even in heaven it will be impossible to count.

. OK that sheds a whole different light on things . Thanks for the reference Rhomphaeam. I checked it out. I was presuming this wider mercy was univeralism of some sort . I apologize for my comments regarding the wider mercy you believe in Evmur. I was mistaken as to the meaning of a wider mercy . I thought you were saying a more inclusive mercy rather than referring to the compassion and mercy of Christ that one might receive at the judgement of believers. Thanks again for the reference to #post 49 and the reference to Paul. I am definately on the same page with regard to the mercy of Christ and compassion I hope to receive at the judgement.[/QUOTE]
