been drunk never thought to kill myself yet the accident of doing so does happen.
That was my point

They are both sins. And both sins ended up in death. (i think the term used in scripture is the sin unto death. Where a person commits a sin and the end result is their physical death)

do you know a lot of people who try to commit suicide did not really want to die. They just wanted people to react to their pain. Sadly, however, in the attempt to draw attention to themselves they end up suffering the consequence.

I may be wrong, but I see it this way,

Drunkenness is a sin

Murder is a sin

Suicide is nothing more than murder. Only the person killed was self.

at least in my view.

Both may lead to death. Both may not lead to death. (Many suicide attempts have also failed.)

I personally do not think we should judge any of these people who died or did not die as saved or lost. Only God knows that.

Take this chance on eternity?

I am confused. Where does it say do not commit suicide as a requirement for salvation.

We should help people who are in this path show them the love of God. Not threaten them with the lie that they may lose salvation because they kill themselves.

Legalism has never worked. It may scare people out of doing something for a time, but in the end, it will fail

Love is what heals. Love is what helps. Love is what saves and love is what restores.

This thought of judging and trying to use fear to stop people from sinning is dangerous.

Again, Life is a gift from God and the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. If one can't discern that God is greater than your problems to where one takes their life that is not faith. There are things that are ungodly things to do because the end result doesn't bring Glory to God. Suicide is a painful thing for those who are left to pick up the pieces and after which WE do not know where that Person is for eternity. No one can say for sure so that is to be left to GOD.

We can say this

if that person was a born again, adopted child of God. They are in heaven

if they were not. They are in hell

All sin causes great suffering for people. My wife’s ex husband was a drug addict alcoholic. The mess her and her children had to clean up was unimaginable.

That does not mean he was lost. And they did not go to him and tell him he must not be saved and had to repent. They went at him with love, and mercy and fogiveness. In the end he did finally get cleaned up. He ended up losing all he had as a consequence. But it was mercy and love from God and his family that restored him. Not judgment

I grew up with that from my Dad And may of the leaders of the church I grew up in It never worked. I never saw anyone restored who was attacked and judged

I am not here to tell anyone where their loved one is or is not WE do not know, Jesus said in scripture to some " I never knew you"
yes according to the word of God one who is saved and Knows Jesu as Lord and savior is a child of God. FYI there are many Christians who struggle with addiction.

Yes, if they were a child of God they still are. And that is all we should say, We do not know if they were not. Only God does

Jesus told those who tried to approach Christ by their words he never knew them. Because they lived continually in sin, and practiced sin

John said a child of God can not do this, whoever does. As he said, has never known God.

NEVER knew means just that. Never knew

And I agree, there are many christians who struggle with addiction. And not just drug or alcohol addiction. There are many kinds of besetting sins. Even paul I believe had one. Hence his thorn in the flesh

Yes. Now look at what Jesu said

The people who he spoke to DID give credit to beelzebub and a credit him with the work the HS did

Jesus said they were in DANGER of committing the sin,

They still had hope to repent. That is the warning Jesus gave,

that puts us back under law prety much, It says after one sins, they must do something to get that sin redeemed. Or they will die from that sin.

Thats not eternal life. Thats conditional life.

Again, Jesus told them they were in DANGER OF. He did not call them out and say you have commited this sin now you have no hope of repentance and salvation. He said they were in danger of

for all we know. Saul was there when Jesus said this. We do not know.

Suicide is A sin, like any other sin, The root of the sin is pride. It is putting your needs above the needs of others.

Those sins were paid n the cross.

As jesus said, it is finished.
Suicide isn't always about pride. Sometimes the person feels like they are such a burden to others that the world would be better without them.

I did not see where anyone said pride was an issue for suicide, but you are right.

I think that a better term for pride, as being the root cause of suicide, would be despair: a lack of faith or hope in God or life. Deep despair, coupled with no hope or faith,, is what leads to suicide.....a desire to end one's existence and suffering.

You know what's weird is that i had suicidal thoughts years ago, and then i had this realization that i wasn't having faith in God and that He had a plan for my life to think that way. Since then until recently I've still struggled with depression, but my faith kept me from thinking about suicide. I said Jeremiah 29:11 was my life verse. I had a really devastating breakup earlier this month, though, and i have been in so much pain that I've started thinking that way again. (Don't worry. I'm getting help.) But the thing is that I'm so mad at myself that my faith isn't strong enough right now. When I get that way, i feel like it hurts so much that i just can't keep going. And i have to keep going. I have a young son, and i take care of my mom. They need me. But I'm so disappointed in myself that it's not my faith carrying me through right now. So yeah, right now i guess it's a pride thing. But when I was suicidal before i thought i was such a terrible mom that my kids would have a better life without me, and i felt like i was a burden to everyone. (That started after I'd had a near death experience from an accident that disabled me. I'm supposed to feel so blessed that God saved me.)

Everlasting-grace, who i quoted, said that it's a sin and pride is the root of the sin.
even if your doing it because you think it is better than others. Its still a pride issue

you take control of your death, and refuse to give it to God. That is suicide

we have many reasons. But in the end, it comes down to selfishness..

Matt 12
27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.
28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.
30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.
31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

In this context Jesus say blasphemy when they accused Jesus cast out Satan use the power of beelzebub.
So be careful if a Christian do miracle in the power of Jesus, don't accused as from Satan.
