I did that once...
Shaved my beard and face clean.
My wife looked at me like I was a stranger with her husband's voice.
She had a difficult time looking at me until I grew it back.
LOL...I know how she felt.

I had an ex who had a goatee ever since I had known him.

I was always on to him about keeping it trimmed.

One day he completely shaved it off. He looked like a completely different man.

I couldn't look at him with a straight face until he grew it back.

And I never nagged him about trimming it again...lol:giggle:

Still not an expert though:

So, Trustworthy?!?

Maybe...maybe not:unsure::whistle:

I think that's a sad commentary on just how unthinkable it is for many people that a single guy would choose to go to church on his own. It's a very rare thing for me to go to a church and sit alone and be asked if my husband is sitting with me. But there was one church I visited that had a sunday school class for women who attended church alone because apparently that's a much more common thing.
Women outnumber men in a church...

A single guy with no vice or wackanoodle theologies and a healthy respect for women is a unicorn.
The women will refuse to allow him to be single for long. They will hound him until he is married.

By your definition I'm a unicorn... But I'm not having to beat them off with a stick.

Maybe I'm just really ugly and don't know it. Or maybe some of the things I believe are wackanoodle and I don't know it.

Or maybe relationship apathy is a serious turnoff for girls. I sure hope it is.

You're wasting time resisting
You'll find the more you do
The more she'll keep insisting
Her him has got to be you

Ah I did find it.

Never seen it. But apparently they don't know what they are talking about, at least related to me, so I probably shouldn't bother seeing it.

Relationship apathy is definitely a HUGE turnoff.
You actually have to demonstrate compassion for those around you. Acting ignorant of their advances is not going to help you find a "friend" of the opposite sex.

That and some sort of strength about you. And it can be in any form. Strength of character, strength of morality, financial strength, or physical strength...

Women love strength...it's like catnip for kittens.

So if you want a friend you have to actually first be a friend.

I know a lady whose face and body was covered in splotchy strawberries...

BUT

She was kind, and always giving and wanting to take part in activities... everything from singing to board game parties. Always bringing Bundt cake for Sunday school class.
She married the guy who gave her a KitchenAid mixer. (A nice one here in America)

Just saying....that's how it's done. But with a little more emotion and some nice things in between.

Just talked with them last Christmas...both are still deliriously happily married.

I dunno... People around me tell me I'm all those things (except the red splotches on the face of course... you saw my picture in that other thread.)

And I know a few ladies like that... but they're all married or far across the country.

As I mentioned in chat a few days ago:

Of my direct ancestors, my father, two uncles and Aunt, three of them have been married and divorced. Only Uncle Fred is still married to his first wife.

I am very familiar with the circumstances in all three cases. All three of them, my direct ancestors' only mistakes were picking the wrong people. Their spouses kept sleeping around.

Two of the divorced people have since remarried, and this time they got it right. The third one is currently single, and after paying the price for picking wrong twice I think he has given up.

So yeah, I'm not in a hurry to go out looking for somebody. If I happen to find her, great! If I don't, I'm going to keep enjoying life. Either way I'm not going to jump at a chance and try to make myself believe "This is THE ONE!" because I've seen too much junk that I don't want to put up with myself.

It is probably going to catchy up with me- sooner or later I am going to end up with a hearing aid...

Here in the South it would be extremely rare. Them women would bother you.
Especially as you get around 50 and older.

This is just for fun.
:D

What are some signs which show you're single?

I'll go first.

I ordered Chinese food after a really stressful week at work. The Chinese food came to my door and in it were 4 sets of silverware and 20 napkins. They thought they were feeding a family, while in fact, it was just me.

:x
When I was single I used to order a lot of Chinese food because I didn't want to cook for the week.... so I get it...lol

Signs that I'm single:

The other side of the bed is cold.

I find the keys... and the remote... where I left them.

I recognize every purchase on the credit card statement.

The gas tank is full.

I have to make my own sandwich.

It's amazing when I was single when I cleaned it stayed clean like no dishes in the sink when I got home still no dishes in the sink. I think that was one of the best things about being single things stayed pretty clean when you are the only one messing things up...

On the not-so-bright side:

One sign I am single is, I am the default person to stay with Grandma in her declining years. She needs someone to be here 24/7 and since I'm a single guy I'm elected.

Not to complain, but I'm gonna complain: I can't even get a single flipping day free. I've been wanting for a WHILE now to pop down to Chattanooga on a day-trip to check out a McKay's (really big used book store) music selection. Everybody else in the family is always too busy.

You need to talk to the other peeps in your family and ask for a day off or weekend off to go and do just what you said.... Grandma belongs to the whole family whether they are busy or not and you are allowed to have a little personal time now and then.

Or if Grandma is able take her with you if they still are all so busy... I really do hope your Grandma is able to get out an about on occasion as it would be nice for her too.

But the family should be willing to let you have a day here and there. For a mental health day...

Yup, I'm in the South.

Well... Southwest Tennessee. That was always debatable even in the Civil War whether we were part of the South. We're below the Mason-Dixon line though.

In my church, usually the amount of men and women are the same. Easy to count as the congregation is very small at the moment. In Wednesday night and prayer and bible study, usually more men than women.
Where are the women? I fit all the qualifications to be hounded lol. There are none who are hounding me! lol

I think ol' Johnny's talking through his hat. Women around here ain't NEAR desperate enough to just throw themselves at any decently sane guy.

Them tiny country churches...

Go visit a mega church for a while...or even a large one in a large city.

Brentwood Baptist. (5,000 per Sunday) is a meat market for their CC singles classes. They have 3 separate small groups that meet on grounds and one off grounds that meet.

My Church (1,100-1,500 Sunday) actually ran off most of their singles intentionally after a fuss involving a singles pastor that headed up that department...but we still have singles meeting and getting married.

And the hunters only become the prey after 50...not before. But if there are any of the red flags I wouldn't count on women chasing you.

Such as income instability or financially dependant on govt subsidies...
Heavy debts, poor hygiene, outrageous theological positions, poor social skills, antisocial hobbies like worm farming...

Then there's all the normal ones... like chemical dependency, tobacco use, gambling addiction, porn addiction, laziness addiction.

In small towns EVERY person has a community reputation that everyone knows. You will live or die by that reputation.

And asking someone to their face about any of these things is pointless... nobody is that rude as to tell you directly what the issue is.
