The mark of the beast is placed under something for it is to stick, prick, incised, or punched which it is given to a person so it is placed under the skin of a person.
And it is for identification of the person for it is recognition of ownership which all information will be on the chip including that they have been vaccinated.
The beast's agenda is that there is no personal God to help mankind but they can achieve peace and harmony on earth by their technology and devices.
The microchip will be linked to satellite like a human GPS tracking system, and if a crime happens they will know who was in the location and how close they were to the crime scene, and can find lost people, or whoever they want to locate.

This does not sound spiritual to me when the false prophet causes the people to take the mark, and it is in their right hand or forehead so it has to be a physical device, and no man can buy or sell without the device which makes sense if it is a microchip like we use a debit card to make purchases but the mark will be under their skin.
