Thank you, so the question was if God told me to get the shot would I?
This doesn't have to be hypothetical. My mom got the shot and I said nothing. Her situation is different from mine, she is an adult and can make her own informed decisions, and the word I got was very clear that sharing my misgivings which I could not prove would only raise the stress unnecessarily.
My son's story is a bit different, he also has not gotten the shot and I was questioned about this as though I had somehow forbidden him from getting it. At the time my son was 18 and you don't force 18 year olds to do anything in this country. I shared with him my misgivings on it, I also shared that since he had clearly been exposed to Covid19 when I got sick with it that he had his own immunity. He hadn't even gotten sick even though he was in the car with me all day when I was first getting quite sick and lives in the same house with me while I had it for two weeks.
So then I am quite willing to step aside to God's sovereignty with both my mom and my son, and yes, if the Lord had spoken to me to get it I would have. Because I had Covid19 I had assumed I would not need the vaccine and when they kept pushing for those who had recovered from Covid to get the shot it raised alarm bells.
Their reasoning was "we don't know if those who have recovered have immunity". OK, we also didn't know if the vaccine was effective at that point and we didn't know which of these two were more effective. That wasn't a reason to mandate the vaccine to me, it was a reason to say "we will have to wait to see what the peer reviewed studies say". Since that time the peer reviewed studies have made it quite clear that natural immunity after recovering is about 20x better.
But they were disingenuous and I knew it. I had lived in Taiwan for 8 years and had family over there. I knew that Taiwan which had been hit very hard by SARS was doing the best with Covid. I was tempted to credit their excellent protocols for that but Vietnam was also doing remarkably well and they too were hit hard by SARS. Based on that I felt it was highly likely that recovering from SARS would confer some immunity to Covid and that was ten years ago.
