If the earth was flat...I think there would be a lot more windmills.
Sure, and so very funny. You do not know if the earth is flat, oval or whatever. You take it on faith, you have been indocterinated the oval thing. You have never ever contemplated it. And regardless of shape, what would it matter? You still walk around as today, flat some places, hilly other places, water runs as it does. The sun shines, there are sometimes cloudy, sometimes it rains, and the idiotwind keeps on blowing our hats of our heads. Puck or egg is irrelevant.
There are dozens of reasons why it can be demonstrated that the earth is a globe, including eyewitness accounts. There is not one, as in zero, naught, none whatsoever reasons to believe that the earth is flat. I don't take it on faith. Courtesy of two of my previous jobs, I've traveled most of the earth. It is a globe.

I blame it on the internet. We are able to talk to, and argue with, so many people, so fast, all at once... that we have exhausted all our arguments. Now we're working on rerun arguments.

It's like the movie companies constantly dredging up and remaking the same old plots. They already used all the plots so all they have left is remakes... sorry, "reimaginings." All we have left is "reimagined" arguments, and we're having to go further and further back to dig them up.

I give it another three years before we'll start arguing again about whether an imbalance in humours makes a person sick. I already saw a video game that used body humours the same way most games use elements - you could imbalance an opponent's humours to cause more damage with your attacks.

Yes, that is what they say. Because they believe the sun is very, very small.
The relative dimensions are what is important.
If the Earth was the size of a pea, the Sun would be the size of a basketball.
Have you seen Louie Giglio's "If The Earth Was A Golf Ball" ?

Dude. Lots of insults in this thread.

I'm accustomed to Flat Earth people being the obstreperous ones. Here it seems to be reversed - they are the ones discussing what they believe while other people insult them.

I haven't seen insults. I've read honest questions and skepticism but it's been more respectful than other threads I've seen on this topic.

Okay, more mocking than insulting. And yes, it is still a lot tamer than most threads on this topic.

True. But it started off as a joke thread so ribbing was to be expected.

A cogent point... This was the whole reason for the thread from the start.

*sigh...

It was going so well though. The Flat Earth people were talking and I was learning stuff.

Ah well. It was nice while it lasted.

Had to look that one up in my Funk and Wagnalls!

(Sure you don't mean ostrobogulous? ;) )
Definitely not.

Whataya MEAN you had to look it up? My mother used it all the time. (Can't imagine why... can't have anything to do with me being her son or anything...)

You can always PM them for a more serious conversation. 🤷‍♀️

I actually considered that. I recently discovered you can start a PM with multiple people.

They'd probably think I was just goading them though - what people call "egging them along" - for my own amusement. They probably get a lot of people who pretend to ask them questions just so they can mock the answers.

I really was curious how they fit eclipses into their theories.

True, it's hard to ask any questions that contradict their flat earth belief without them thinking someone is trying to pull one over on them. You could probably ask Moses_Young, though. I think he would realize you were legitimately curious.

If ever we needed evidence against evolution, the flat earth movement proves it. Either that or evolution has gone into reverse gear.
Please try to explain what you are intending to say here with much more explicit detailed specifics.

Evolution is supposedly the survival of the fittest. That implies that people will get more intelligent. There used to be drawings of future people with huge heads and tiny arms and legs because it was the brain that counted. This is not true on any level. People are dumber than ever in spite of advanced education. Logic and reason mean nothing to the FE and other conspiracy theorists. So if evolution is true, why are people going backwards?
