There was a difference made when God wrote the law in our hearts through Christ nstead of writing the law in stone. We need to know if that means that God changed his mind about something, or is there another reason for this.

It is very important for us to understand because if God can change His mind then we need not believe that everything in the OT is true. God could have changed some of it,

Scripture tells us God is eternal, that God is the same always. That would mean that the law given to us in stone is the same law as the law given to us in our hearts. I believe it is the same law.

Christ explained in the sermon on the mount. Christ said “you have been told” and “but I tell you”. Christ explained later that he did not change anything we had been told, so Christ believed the law in stone was true. Then Christ explained the difference between that law given in stone and in our hearts.

Something in stone endures forever, but if it is in our hearts then love is added. God IS love. If the law is given as rules in stone without the heart it can be distorted, as we are told when the Pharisee distorted the Sabbath law so it did not include the law of love. See the parable of the Good Samaitan in Luke 10.

So, circumcision of the heart endures forever, but circumcision of the flesh was temporary. Monitoring food for the stomach to only clean food was keeping clean food for the flesh, we are to keep clean food for our spirit.

God changed his method of speaking to us, but God did not change his message.

In stone is equal to being a slave to something that cannot be followed.

On the heart is grace imputing eternal innocence to all who believe Jesus Yeshua.

Yes, all Scripture is given by INSPIRATION of God. It is all God-breathed (theopneustos) hence it is inerrant and infallible. But the truth of any statement which has been recorded will depend on who made that statement. For example, Job's "friends" accused him of having committed some sin or sins, therefore he was suffering the consequences. But none of that was true, so God rebuked his three friends. But the record of their words is true.

As regards the Old Covenant, God indeed set it aside to be replaced by the New Covenant. But if you wish to hang on to the Old Covenant, you will make God a liar.

There is nothing wrong with the law. The problem is with those who were supposed to keep it. It's called the New Covenant because it is new. Trying to put Christians back under the law is unnecessary and wrong. The law is the shadow, Christ is the reality. Some Christians like to live in the shadows. Me, I prefer the glorious light.

Just one example. The law says that we are not permitted to give false witness against our neighbour. The New Covenant says that liars will not inherit the Kingdom of God. A Christian may smugly claim that they've not testified falsely against a neighbour, yet they quite happily claim tax deductions to which they are not entitled. Legalistically, he has done nothing wrong. In God's eyes, he is a liar and a thief. Legalists seem to think that New Covenant believers are trying to dodge God's holiness and righteousness. Far from it. Those who seek the Kingdom of God are not content with mere outward observance. It is being led by the Spirit and living according to the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus.

Not true...........there are instances in Scripture where someone prayed to God and begged Him to spare one people or another, and He did, even though He had determined to destroy them....

EVERYDARNTHING God says IS TRUTH!!!!!!!!

God did not change His mind about anything.

Paul said that the law is spiritual, holy, just, and good, which anything spiritual must be obeyed which are the moral laws of God, laws of love.

Jesus took the physical ordinances of Israel out of the way nailing them to His cross but the spiritual laws which includes the 10 commandments remain for they are laws of love.

The law was written in stone the 10 commandments the moral laws, laws of love, but they were trying to live up to it by the power of the flesh.

In the New Testament the law is written on the heart which we live up to the law by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Which Paul said we do not void out the law through faith but we establish the law which we can do by the Holy Spirit.

The law given to the Hebrew nation was ONLY for them or any converts among them.
They were a stiff necked rebellious people so God had to make their burdens heavy to bring them under subjection.

When Jesus came and fufuIlled his mission he brought a new covenant.
This covenant was not burdensome but easy. It is a covenant of love and the law is liberty in Christ.
Love covers a multitude of sin, love is kind ect.ect.

I'm not saying we do not obey commandments,we obey only those commandments that fall under love.
Love God,love your neighbor, and love one another in this we fulfill ALL the law Jesus requires.

We live under grace not the laws of sin and death!

As you are well aware, there is much more to the Old Covenant than circumcision and food laws. Ancient Israelites were required to keep ALL the individual statutes, together called the Law.

Christians are not required to keep all the statutes, for Christians are not under "the Law". We are under a different covenant, not the same one with minor additions.

Until you grasp the distinction between the old covenant and the new, you will be confused.

if it’s the same law why does it command different things ?

“And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife?

tempting him. And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you? And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.

And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.

But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter.

And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭10:2-12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Moses said if your unhappy with your marriage get divorced and remarry

Jesus said if you do that your commuting adultery how can we say it’s the same law if one says something and the other says that’s wrong but this other thing is right ?

it’s not just the law of marriage that changed Moses allowed divorce and remarriage because he was dealing with corrupt sinners Jesus doesnt because he’s telling us Gods word on the matter not moses word

Moses approved of remarriage

“When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house. And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭24:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬

what we should really do to understand how contrary moses word is to christs is forst find out what Moses said about a matter and then compare what Jesus taught it’s almost always contrary like the law of marriage

how can we say it’s the same , when it’s written in the law and gospel and is contrary and not the same ?

get a divorce and remarry of your not happy said Moses , let no man seperate a marriage said Jesus and to remarry another is adultery said Jesus

if something is contrary it’s just contrary it’s the same with how we deal with other people Moses taught very different thkngs than jesus and contrary and conflicting at most points

“For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭7:12‬ ‭

amen we just need to study the law of Moses and compare it to Jesus words in the gospel anyone who does that honestly will not be confused about the two covenant laws being seperate

do we get divorced if we aren’t happy with a spouse ? Moses says to Jesus says no

are we to swear by God and fulfill our vows ? Moses says to Jesus said do not swear to anything to God

are we to take equal revenge when someone wrongs us an eye for an eye tooth for tooth wound for wound ? Moses taught that , Jesus taught us not to do that but instead to not take any revenge but forgive instead and let God deal with it

almost every core point of the gospel is not only dofferent but opposite like that

Does not committing adultery outwardly make one righteous ? Moses said that , Jesus taught that if we dwell on the desire and thoughts of adultery we’re committing adultery in our heart and makes us unclean and puts us in danger

is not committing violence against people we hate the way ? Or is not allowing hate and grudges to
Build in us towards others the way ?

I wonder often if people who can’t distinguish have ever really studied what it is Moses commanded them and what it is Jesus commanded us I feel
As if people who take the time to do that and compare wouldnt have trouble seeing how one is tommake known sin and the other is to take it away and teach Gods righteousness

“The law and the prophets were until John:

since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭16:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:33‬ ‭

it’s so contrary when you compare. Moses directives and commands with Jesus and his word I’m positive people who study both will come to the truth

I was talking about the 10 commandments..not the Jewish law....
So now there are eleven commandments?

No. The ten commandments were part of the Law, and there is nothing in Scripture justifying a division of the commandments from the rest of the Law as given through Moses. It is one Law, delivered in hundreds of individual statutes. As both Paul and James state, if you break one component of it, you have broken "the law".

Our relationship with God is not dependent upon abiding by the ten commandments, but on faith in the Person and finished work of Jesus Christ.

I believe Momtama123 explained it as God intended us to understand. The law in stone was meant to be eternal, but it distorts the law because the law is of love and stone does not have love. The old covenant that God improved and made so much better was of God, there are eternal truths in the old covenant. God did not completely wipe it out when it was improved because anything of God is truth.

I truly believe God is truth, and we can't wipe away any of the truths of the Lord by our fleshly reasoning. First must come God, and God is truth.

the letter to the Colossians tells us that all the speculation, all the demands to keep the law or parts of the law, all the squabbles about the Sabbath or what you eat, means nothing with the reality that is in Christ. all of the law is only a shadow of the reality that is in Christ Jesus

These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ Col.2:17

6 Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, 7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For rin him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. 11 In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ,
12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead. 13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.
15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.
16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or ja new moon or a Sabbath.

17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ. 18 Let no one disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions,4 puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind, 19 and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God.
20 If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations— 21 “Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch” 22 (referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to human precepts and teachings? 23 These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh. This tells us that when we listen to Jesus about how to live within the kingdom of heaven as our home rather than the kingdoms of the world as our home we are being a part of something so wonderful that the best we can do is only a shadow of that wonder.

As Psalm 119 shows us, it is the law that guides us to the kingdom of heaven. It frees us from the bindings that living with sin brings.

Then you have absolutely no understanding of the Mosiac law,Blik.

Do you think the law GIVEN TO JEWS UNDER MOSES IS FOR YOU?

Even if your ethnicity is Hebrew if you are born again of blood and water as Jesus said, then the laws at Sinai do not COVER your sins.

The law of Zion, the law of liberty bought with the blood of Jesus,God's son, is the law of born again.

The law of the OT brought death but Jesus came to give life and give it more abundantly.

I question......do you know any other things about the word of God or is LAW it for you. If so death will be brought to you without grace.

As Gentiles without grace we will never see the face of God!
As Jews without Jesus they will be in the hands of a just God who has a plan for them!

Maybe you should choose this day WHOM you will serve!
