Hi Everyone!
I'm Paul and new here!
I grew up in England, and now I live with my wife and two daughters in the Netherlands. We go to an international and interdenominational church, which is great because they speak English and my Dutch is terrible!
I'm really happy to have found Christian Chat, and looking forward to meeting my brothers and sisters in Jesus! :)

Hi fish8jonah,

Just to let you know--Jonah was not digested--and the fish threw him up because he was just too bitter!;)

Here's a verse that may come in handy in some of the forums--some nice and some not so nice people--I finally discovered the 'ignore' feature since I'm not always that great at turning the other cheek--especially if I know I'm right!

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you” (Matthew 5:43-44; see also Luke 6:27-29).

Funny you should say that, well, maybe not funny, but this topic of whether or not Jonah was swallowed by a fish came up in a BDF thread, with some saying that obviously he was not in the belly of a fish, but in Sheol, that is to say, dead! And I pondered on this a bit, because Jesus mentioned Jonah being in the belly of a huge fish, and I do understand people's reticence to fully accept it was indeed a fish, but on the other hand... any ways, my thoughts wandered to how God could protect Jonah in this huge fish's belly from abdominal fluids and whatnot by shutting down the fish's digestive tract, because surely otherwise Jonah would perish there? I wondered how much room Jonah would have to move around (if at all), and how he would be able to avoid moving further down the digestive tract... Did I tell you I have an active imagination?:giggle: Of course all the while God is protecting him, and preventing any of those things from happening! Meanwhile the fish is feeling ill because his bodily functions have shut down ever since he swallowed that human! So of course he finally spits him out. LOL

Come on, Magenta--are you serious? Okay, I'll fill you in. Sooo, Jonah had big tub of coconut oil--think like Crisco--because coconut oil is healthier. Anyhowz, he slathered that ALL over the unprotected parts. Plus he was wearing a sealskin, coat hat and gloves--that was in the book of Enoch which unfortunately did not become part of the canon of scripture...;)

The other likely scenario is this fish had two stomachs--one with digestive juices and the other not--he stayed stuck in the first one. I'd like to think he could at least have a view of the sky from the whales blow hole--I'm sort of claustrophobic so..
..

I'd hope that no-one would think me bitter! (Although it sounds it would be handy if I was ever swallowed by a fish!)

I must admit sometimes I'm a bit too much like Jonah. I (try to) run away from what God asks me to do. Jonah's melodrama (e.g. "I'm angry enough to die!" (4.9) makes me smile - though my wife accuses me of behaving the same way too sometimes!
