Brother - How can you miss it??? Please read and study the Gospel of John.

These Three Books hold the Key to Understanding for you - Gospel of John, Acts and 1 Corinthians.

Don't miss out on the most Glorious Filling of your spirit with the baprism of the Holy Spirit.

God will never force it and it only comes thru Faith in His Word and asking the Father for the Blessing.

So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 11If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? 12Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
Dave, i know i got the Holy Spirit when I became child of God, and i also got a gift.

Brother, the blessings from God are not depend from reading a special book of the bible.
YES Dear Brother, They are -
Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”

The Tempter has you currently in unbelief dear Brother - you can overcome this through the Blood of the Lamb and His Word.

BELIEVE THIS:
I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Therefore He says:

“When He ascended on high,
He led captivity captive,
And gave gifts to men.”

God has blessings for you that Christ delights for you to have. His Gifts are for the edifying of His Body.

Would you rather be in discord or in harmony with Truth, the Spirit and His Body???

When Jesus received the infilling of the Holy Spirit and imparted it to the 12, and they to the 70 they received the total "gifts", the "Gift" was the Holy Spirit, all mircles signs and wonders come from Holy Spirit and we are to grow in Holy Spirit power.

What you mean? If i not agree with your view I living in discord with the truth. I got the gift of discern the spirits without asking for, since I am a child of God.
I already told what I not believe according the teachings from the pentecostal and charismatic Background. Because I do not found this taught in the NT to other believers.

Your lack of understanding and resistance to Scripture proves that you have not the gift of discernment.

God's Children delight in His word and feast off of Truth that is fed to us by the Holy Spirit.

Your words give you away as you seek to argue with HS7 and the Word of God.

At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said,
“Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.

So BEAUTIFUL is the HOLY SPIRIT -

Attempting to follow God without the filling of HS7 is where we get religion from and from that we find all the discord.

So your saying the evidence is in the context of scripture rather than expressed as a direct word in scripture or do you deny the trinity?
if you see the quote from the person I had in reference to their argument that the church did not teach tongues as the initial evidence of the empowering of the Holy Spirit, that same claim could be made about the doctrine of the trinity. Which I believe is a Biblical concept supported in the very scriptures. Just as the gift of Tongues are and all other gifts for today from the Holy Spirit

Hardly any ministry for the kingdom can be done without Him, Jesus was clear, "I only do what I see the Father do", and "I only say what I hear the Father say".
John Wimber in The Kingdom of God said almost anything we do for His pleases Him, but He is outrageously happy when we will walk with Him. Knowing Him in personal vital relationship, being his hands and feet.
At 23 minutes John explains this point.

No my friend, you could me not show what I asked for. Why not ?
Whom I should trust, the word of God or man made doctrines which are not found in the bible taught to believers?
if the bible says that not all believers will get the gift of speaking in tongues, how I then I should believe an doctrine which statet that every believer can get this gift if he is asking long enough the Holy Spirit. Or the doctrine which is stating that it is the proof that someone is baptised with the Holy Spirit. Which excludes according the bible automaticly an number of believers because the bible says that this gift is not given to all believers, nor is it a sign that someone is baptized with the Holy Spirit.

Yes, i do not understand everything. But I understand false teaching.
About the gift I got, I can only say that it warns me in the past when teachings through a false spirit were given.
And today there are a lot of false teachings in the church of Christ to find.

You need to review your own posts - maybe you have forgotten some of the unbiblical things you have spoken.

ALSO - i never said you must speak in tongues = check all my posts.

The Gift of speaking in Tongues is the first evidence that was given of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, as it pleased the Father.
This is firmly established in Acts with more details in 1 Corinthians.

With that firmly established by the LORD, each individual is encouraged to seek to be filled with HS7.
Tongues, may or may not be given by HS7 - according to the Word of God = 1 Corinthians.
PEACE

That is one thing-- In the bible you don't see anyone having to learn the gift of the Spirit they had. It just happened! God objectively working through His believers in His churches, by the sign and ministry gifts.

Other thing-- these gifts were for particular purposes. Jesus, when He was doing signs and miracles.. they were for particular purposes for teaching and showing His authority. Similar thing with the disciples and apostles. What i've seen is quite random for people these days trying to show the gifts.

Tongues for an unbeliever only? Nope.. haven't seen it practiced that way. Just believers in a meeting getting into a trance and then starting to speak gobbledeegook, no unbelievers around.

Prophecying that isn't about fortune teller style telling the future? Nope... haven't see it practiced that way. Just people saying along the lines of 'God has told me you are going to do this.. and that..' Is that prophesying?

I thought prophecy was speaking forth God's Word!

Effectively when a pastor gives a sermon from the bible.. they are prophesying!

So maybe there are those who practice the gifts right out there.. but I haven't seen it. Again.. who really abides by the guidelines set by Paul for spiritual gifts?

Of course people are flawed and aren't going to get the practice perfect.. but that doesn't mean we don't even try by those guidelines!

I Am not talking from you peronal. I am talking from the pentecostal/charismatic movements through which this teaching came into the world.
So you would agree that not all Christians in Pauls time spoke in tongues?

we often mistake and call words of knowledge 'prophecy", Prophecy exhorts and edifies according to scripture.

Yes, some true words you have spoken. If you read, study and pray the Gospel of John, then Acts and the 1 Corinthians, you will have greater understanding and discernment.

i am not going to go back and look for them but the two most recent are Post 152 and 165 on this thread.

The Key here for us is this:
So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? David- yes you are correct, we see many is these last of the last days who "seek their own", not recognizing when we are His we are no longer our own, after accepting Him as Savior and making Him Lord of our lives we move to renewal of the mind to see the world through His lense, becoming conformed to the image of the Son.

Always looking to argue instead of looking into and submitting to the Word of Truth for the much needed filling.
