Yes, the gifts of the Holy Spirit are being used today. Yes, you can ask for the Holy Spirit to use you in the Gifts as He so desires.
The Holy Spirit has used me in the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the following ones. tongues, and interpretation of tongues, prophecy in context to prophesying, healing, and word of knowledge. the gift of helps and called in the Gifts to the Church also known as the Christ of Christ found in Eph 4 as an evangelist.

Yes, no ("must" is not required), and yes.

To the second question, asking is encouraged; Paul wrote, 'Earnestly desire the gifts of the Spirit, especially that you may prophesy." Wanting without asking seems a bit... presumptuous. :)

The real question as I see it is: Can the Holy Spirit still produce miraculous signs and wonders today? My answer is a resounding—YES! Of course He can.

But in my experience, all so-called signs and wonders are manufactured and not authentic. If I ever saw a true miracle I might change my mind; but as far as I'm concerned, God isn't doing miraculous signs and wonders right now. This could change tomorrow though.

What we're seeing now are lying signs and wonders.

you will find those who scoff at and mock. or say things that are foolish like " If I ever saw a true miracle I might change my mind; but as far as I'm concerned, God isn't doing miraculous signs and wonders right now. "

Comments like that are making claims as to what God has done or even does because they have not seen it. God doesn't need man's verification or acceptance to have done or done something man cannot explain.

The Greatest miracle of all is the gift of salvation which many of these who such things don't see God saving anyone either.

God is still healing, saving, breaking addictions, setting free opening prison doors, encouraging, edifying, and comforting with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. God is still loving and answering prayer. He says yes, no, and not yet.

Those who have faith do see and will see. the perverted and adulterous generation who seek a sign Jesus spoke about, aren't those who Jesus said "these signs shall follow them that have faith and believe". I do not seek signs to prove God nor do I seek signs to believe God.
they confirm the very word of God , Mark 16:20

" And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen."

Jesus speaking in MARK 16:20 was to the Apostles first. 1cor chapter 12 through 14 are to the church.

Jesus first,
the Apostles,
then the church.
The Canonization of the word of God doesn't mean the Holy Spirit has stopped. that is a false narrative. One person not seeing it doesn't make signs and wonders obsolete. That is a ridiculous line of thinking.

The gift of the Holy Ghost is to cease from all sin
and becoming perfect as God is in heaven. This is how
you will know if you have it and if anyone else has been given it.
All others are a counterfeit.

The Holy Spirit still gives people gifts. Yes, there are a lot of gifts that don't involve the miraculous but which empower a person to minister to others. This, really, is the purpose for all spiritual gifts. Too many people these days are looking for miracles; their spirituality is shallow and they're looking for something tangible, when it would be better for them to have more faith in the unseen. "Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?"—Luke 18:8

Do you believe you must ask for the gift??
You can ask but you don't have to. The Holy Spirit will give you the gift or gifts as He wills: "All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills."—1 Corinthians 12:11 The Spirits distributes gifts as He wills, so it's better in my opinion to just try to discovers the gift or gifts you've been given. You might ask to know what your gifts are.

Do you believe that no one can have more than one gift??
Yes, I believe so.

You should align your spiritual faith and practice on the Holy Spirit and His gifts with the Scriptures, and NOT with the unscriptural traditions of men! 2Tim 3v16,17

Then, you'll see results!

You claim to be "not Christian" and yet "born of the living God".

Please explain.

All the scriptures come from the Spirit of the living God which is the Holy Spirit
therefore I need not align anything that is given to me by Him with anything, for He is the living Word.
Thank you for your advice but I will stay with what always works for me.

You're dodging and weaving, which is typical either of someone who is not saved at all, but has learned some fancy lingo, or of someone who wants to play silly games.

Jesus is God. He was prophesied, came in the flesh by virgin birth, was empowered by the Holy Spirit, taught, healed, cast out demons, performed many miracles, and testified to the kingdom of God. He was crucified, died, and was buried. He rose again to life on the third day, and ascended to the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

He paid the penalty for your sin. If you accept this by faith, you are saved. If not, you are not saved.
