Why do people hate her?
What did she do that deserves such ire?

You could say the way she teetered between Jim and Roy early on. Engaged to one, leading the other on. Then she did kiss Jim while engaged to Roy.
And while she had plenty of reasons to ditch Roy, separate from Jim, she didn't. Until Jim spoke up about his feelings. That could be seen as dragging Roy along until something better came along.

She then waited until Jim was in a relationship then made a public spectacle of her feelings for him in front of the whole office. Including Jim's girlfriend. And, later, clearly upset Karen by telling her she didn't regret her public confession.

Also the way she became office administrator was seen as pretty slimy.

How about letting Meredith take the fall for the lice?

One thing I didn't like that she did is whenever Jim made decisions without telling her she always praised him, then turned around and used it as a complaint against him during their marriage problems.

I never disliked Pam, but I did dislike some things she did. And the later seasons those seemed to become more common.
Though my biggest issue with her is she married a bully, then supported his behavior.

Her character struck me as a good person, but so insecure her need for approval made her compromise who she was. And Jim made her worse.

Okay...
But the character is actually a rather normal person...

And Jim was never a bully...

You asked, those are the common answers.

😂😂😂
Jim's "pranks" on Dwight were merely because Jim disliked Dwight. Picking on someone for disliking who they are isn't a bully?

Jenna Fischer is so cute. I'd steal her from Jim in a heartbeat.

Half of these are so minor it's ridiculous 😂

During her wedding it wasn't her idea to leave, it was Jim's, who stated he bought the tickets way earlier.
Nor was it just about her vail. Her mother was having a meltdown and ruining her day. She was criticized for not entertaining everyone while driving that same person to the ER while Jim was out drunk.

Not letting Andy into the finer things club? She wasn't the only one to decide who got in. Yet she's the only one taking heat for it.
And, really, such a petty issue to hate someone over.
And claiming she had a junior high education is pure fabrication, nor even accurate sounding.

Broke Roy's heart twice? He broke hers for seven years.

Michael also threw everyone else under the bus with MS Paper Co. As did Ryan. And Michael was more to blame. Where's the hate for those two?

Had a tacky destination wedding? Really? That's a reason to hate someone? And she wasn't the only one involved.

Not funny? More petty reasons.

Played mind games with Jim? But the fact that Jim instigated things by hitting on an engaged woman, even as far as kissing her, let's him off the hook?

Beach day? Jim spent years chasing after an engaged woman, Pam spoke up about her feelings for Jim while he was dating someone for less than a year. Where's the hate for Jim?

Failed at art school then claimed a different reason as to what happened? Definitely a reason to hate someone. 🙄

Too nice to Toby, a subjective claim. Especially about someone who was often nice to others. But, yeah, "too nice" to Toby, what a horrible witch!

Most of those reasons are out of context and when you look deeper aren't what they claim to be. Some are so petty as to be laughable. And the few things that are left aren't really so bad as to make her so contemptible.
