I get where you're coming from, but just logically speaking if a woman gets pregnant, who is in direct control and responsibility of the child? Only the woman can choose to abort or keep the baby. In 90% of cases, the woman will have custody of the children. She's the one who will carry that child and go through a ridiculously painful birthing process if she decides to keep it, and she's the one who will live with the trauma of knowing she murdered her child if she decides to abort it. Women risk a lot more than men do by being promiscuous. And not only that, but promiscuity has become so commonplace and rampant, to the point where it is making a huge negative impact on our country.

"The Journal of Research in Crime and Delinquency reports that the most reliable indicator of violent crime in a community is the proportion of fatherless families." - https://www.ojp.gov/ncjrs/virtual-l...-cause-juvenile-crime-juvenile-crime-opposing

That is a BIG deal. That is not okay. Ultimately, in this day and age it is women who set national standards for men, not men. Women decide what kind of man is acceptable in society, and those men teach their sons to be like them - whether they are present in the son's lives or not.

I understand what you are saying about where society has taken us, and the standards it has set as far as gender roles and expectations.

I just always wonder what God originally intended, and how He would want to see things changed today if people were willing.

I truly believe it would be vastly different from what society sets at any given time.

Ah me thanking God I didn’t marry my ex is a complaint? Here I thought I was praising the Lord for closing a door. He married someone who is definitely a better match for him. I married someone who is definitely a better match for me.
Your situation all worked out for the glory of God.

A few years after my divorce in 1984 I realized that God had delivered me from a horrible miserable marriage. At that point I gave God thanks.

I believe in God's eyes, fornication is equally vile and evil regardless of gender. However, so many women these days are now also guilty of shedding innocent blood in addition to their fornication, and that is about as bad a combo as you can get. In the Bible, He literally swears to Himself that He will destroy the house of those who shed innocent blood, which I do believe is what is happening with the deterioration of the family unit.

I definitely wish there was more of a voice and an opportunity for the fathers to stand up, take the child, and raise in on their own rather than allowing the woman to make the decision alone.

And in some cases, the men are telling the women to kill the child as well, so that's another issue that can be an either/or vs. shared responsibility -- only God knows in each case who is responsible for the murder of the child in their hearts. It is not always the woman alone who makes the decision, as God alone knows the motivation of the heart of each person involved, whether mothers or fathers.

As I've often stated, I am adopted, but have no information on my background.

Like almost anyone who is adopted, I have often wondered what the conditions of my own conception was, and if there were any thoughts of termination along the way, as well as who or what influenced the decision to carry my life to term.

It's yet another of the many, many other questions I have on my list to ask God someday in person.

From the void of once own voice, shall thy knoweth nothing, if thy pasteth scripture standaloneth in the the commentsection witout a following individual comment.

mindfulzen 1:1 Much wisdom granted upon you, so thy will utter words in some sort of a context, formingeth a pointeth.
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart (Hebrews 4:12).

He's gone. Even if he sticks around and reads threads, he can't reply.

He's dead Jim.

Commas, Man! Commas!

Is he Jim who is dead? or...

I was typing that on my phone. What I did bother typing should be appreciated. :p

And man, those flimsy shirts with the braiding bracelets look even more ridiculous after a few decades. Of course the most modern Star Trek uniforms are not a substantial improvement.

If Christians then both men and women are expected to be the "gatekeepers of virginity"...:giggle:sorry but that term just sounds so weird....lol

If not Christians then no one really cares about virginity anymore. Maybe it mattered in my parent's generation and maybe back then women were expected to be virgins, but it really doesn't matter anymore.

Most people who are not Christians actually say they are not looking for a virgin and don't want a virgin because it means the person is not experienced enough, will be too high maintenance, or something is wrong with them and the reason they are virgins is that no wants them.

This is how it is nowadays...sad but true.

I am a male and I expect that I should adhere to waiting until marriage just as women should. I don't see any verse in the Bible that says I should live in sin while a woman must adhere to Christian values.

Feminists say they want empowerment, God hands it to them in the form of this, and the feminists be like ... Naw thanks.

Like seriously, God/nature/evolution/natural law, however you want to frame it, has handed women the ultimate empowerment, and it gets tossed aside by so many. Do feminists really want empowerment? How about using what God/nature/evolution handed you.

All I know is, feminists have to be a lot better at checking their own tire pressure. :p

I though Jesus was the gatekeeper, or at least the door where faith is concerned.
Didnt he literally say 'I am the door'

Also parable of the ten virgins is interesting

they were waiting for the bridegroom to call them, five wise ones had oil, five foolish ones didnt.
So, even if you are a virgin, you could be wise, or you could be foolish.

Its not as if ALL virgins are wise/pure or all virgins are foolish! It was an even split.

lol
In the eyes of faith, you are wise if you have the oil. (to burn lamps in order to have light) And the door could slam shut and you wont be allowed in without it.

It didnt really have anything to do with whether you are a woman/virgin or not or whether you can open or close gates.

Ok...
There's some generalizations that need to be understood.
Men's endocrine system produces high amounts of the hormone known as testosterone. Women have testosterone as well but no where near as much as men. And when women do produce high amounts of testosterone they need maintenance drugs to get them to stop.

But the thing about testosterone is that it makes men more aggressive than women in going after the things they desire. (Such as the desire to mate)

At young ages women tend to learn and are able to think more maturely than men at their same age.

That's the whole reason they are held to a higher standard. They don't have the desire to mate as strongly as men generally do. (There are exceptions) Women aren't without desire but it's not as strong as most men. Again it's because of testosterone levels...

Naturally occurring and not much could be done until recently....so tradition places most of these thoughts into society today.

To be honest, I would actually like to encourage anyone who felt I called Mindfulzen and/or God a racist in my posts to go ahead and report it, because I'd like to know if I really came across that way.

If enough reports were made, I would trust a mod to contact me and tell me that I really did sound like I was calling both him and God racists.

I would want to know if I was wording things so drastically wrong, that it really came across to the good majority of the readers as being what I said.

But I truly believe that most of the readers will understand what I was actually saying.

However, I am willing to be proved wrong.
I think the bible is clearly against race mixing. That doesn't make God a racist unless you want to define the word "racist" that way. Pointing out that the bible says this doesn't make you a racist either....(again unless you want to use the word "racist" as a weapon to attack anyone who disagrees with you).

Regarding the original question of why it's up to women to guard virginity...
Just look at the results. When women did guard virginity, things we going pretty well for society/civilization. When women stop doing this we see a the result. Why? It doesn't matter. It just is.
