That is a great verse.
Do you know of any scripture that talks about praising or praying to the Holy Spirit?
That is a great verse.
Okay, so your argument is based on some extra-biblical assumptions about the trinity?God = the Trinity.
At many charismatic churches, praise and worship can last from 30 to 45 minutes or even longer. The supposed purpose of this is to "call down" the Holy Spirit. But does the Holy Spirit really need to be called down, or is this just a way to get people into an emotional state of pleasure and receptivity? Does this sort of thing honor God or are we honoring the creature more than the Creator?
One song that comes to mind is Kari Jobe's "Holy Spirit." The reason I remember it is because the lyrics are clearly an invitation to the Spirit to fall, or come down. Here's the live video.
Virtually every charismatic church and especially megachurches use music to get the audience "in the mood." Maybe we should consider who or what is actually being conjured by this.
I would just like to ask a question to all those who have mentioned David "dancing before the Lord."
Why do people always resort to this Old Testament event as a reason for why they dance before the Lord in church today? Is it because of a conspicuous absence of any such practice in the New Testament?
2 Samuel 6:12 says: "So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom to the city of David with rejoicing." Does that mean we should keep a replica of the ark handy for when we dance before the Lord?

The Holy Spirit dwells within us. We are to be continuously filled so I understand asking for continuous fillings but I find the "call down" a little strange
however i find Kari Jobe to be v anointed and her music v helpful and edifying
Nothing wrong with dancing in church. The idea that dancing is immoral comes from man made puritan doctrines
You said: "Is it because of a conspicuous absence of any such practice in the New Testament?"
This is funny and gave me a good laugh - sounds like the Pharisees who always went after Jesus for breaking the Law.
If you have not been Baptized in the Holy Spirit, then you will never understand the Great Joy that David experienced in the Spirit when he danced - and remember - this thing David did pleased God.
Now, back to the error of relentless chanting as a way to usher in the Holy Spirit, would be a correct assessment.

Where do you get the idea that dancing is appropriate in church? I'm just curious.
More Old Testament. You just proved my point.
there is a Hebrew WORD IN THE CONTEXT OF Praising God that means Dancing and making a joyful noise shout of praise, a singing choir, on playing instruments. it is also words for worship too.It isn't NOT appropriate
Nowhere in gospel is it forbidden
There is no biblical based doctrine condemning dancing
If bible doesn't condemn it, aren't we adding to the Word by saying dancing in church is wrong?
Our faith is a joyful one
Dancing can be one of many expressions of joy

No - God proves His point - He is the SAME Yesterday Today and FOREVER.
Same God of the Old Testament as the New Testament.
You keep making funny Pharisee jokes - thanks for the free laughter.
