More problems for Brian Houston and Hillsong. In the video, notice what Houston says about the perpetrator at 9:46: "He got drunker than he should have." Seriously? Getting drunk at a church event is okay so long as you don't get too drunk?

Brian Houston has a lot of other things to deal with right now: https://julieroys.com/facing-charges-houston-steps-off-boards/

Hillsong's responsible for a lot of contemporary praise and worship music. That's probably what they're most famous for. They have a music label and three music groups: Hillsong Worship, Hillsong United, Hillsong Young & Free. If you ever watch contemporary worship videos, notice how often you see the name Hillsong—it's a lot.

Generally, the bigger the church organization, the more likely junk like this will happen.

Of course, a worldly news organisation seeking headlines to attract more viewers is going to be perfectly fair and balanced, right?

Yes. As an aussie, I'm not a fan. However, Hillsong has a number of congregations, including overseas. They have been very successful. And that's why they've gained the attention of the muckraking media. It's not the first time they've had to deal with scandal. I hope they learn something so that it is the last.

20,000 people would likely disagree with you. I am not a fan of the megachurch model. A lot are. Each to his own, I guess.

Satan plants people wherever he can and seizes any opportunity to destroy as much as he can. One only has to look at some on this site to see examples of his soldiers.

Well that would be an appeal to popularity fallacy but Hillsong is in the charismatic movement and I've seen from experience all manner of buffoonery in the charismatic churches

It's funny to defend these mega organizations. Media or government go after them and people will act like it's a planned attack on the innocent, yet most of these investigations seem to reveal immoral at best, and criminal at worst, activity.
Being a mega pastor is big business with big money. This leaves it so the dishonest find a job and the sincere can be tempted away. Not sure why people are so eager to defend this.

Mega Christian Church does not mean a crooked Christian Church and the way I see it if a Christian Church is not growing then the congregation is not being taught to be fishers of men. All true Christian Churches that follow Gods word will grow even when the government outlaws them or murders them for their beliefs, Churches will still grow.

The question is, is a church being fishers of men or fishers of numbers? What's the point of attracting large numbers of people if what they're being fed has very little nutritional value? Many of the megachurches just want numbers, that's it; customers who will buy their books and other merchandise.

Of course there are bad apples, but you can't dump them all into one barrel. The area that I live in has 100s to 1000s of very small Churches and very few large Churches. The small ones I have visited are desperate for new members and are dying a slow death. They all share the same lack of teaching the congregation to be fishers of men.

I don't assume all small Churches aren't doing God's work. A Church doesn't have to grow within it's own walls. They can also grow though planting new Churches.

What exactly do you mean by the "teaching" of being fishers of men? Can you give some examples of how we can be better fishers of men?

Are you telling me you don't read or know God's word regarding the subject? Nah I don't think that's what your saying, but your exact purpose eludes me. So lets just say I won't be playing along with whatever it is.

No, I don't know the teaching you're talking about. I know Jesus said "follow Me and I will make you fishers of men." But I don't recall this particular phrase used again. You said churches should be teaching people to be fishers of men. What does it mean to be fishers of men? What are these small churches not doing (specifically) that will enable them to grow?

If you're a Christian then you know what Jesus meant and what I meant. If you don't understand or are pretending not to then all you're doing is trolling. So good lock with that.

I know what I think of by fishing for men. But you stated twice that we should be teaching people to be fishers of men, so I'm just curious what you mean by that. But since I don't want to be a troll (whatever that is), and since you don't seem to want to share your thoughts, then by all mean go in peace.
