I heard about this on Christian radio today.
I felt it important to look up and spread the word about.
This link has info (under "students" and "parents" tabs ) about what can and can not be done as well as student rights information and how to (call/click links) contact Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) if students are told they can not promote/support this or told to stop.
There is also a tab with info for churches to support/promote/encourage students.

Let's rally behind and support our youths who will be participating in this event.
If your child/ren or someone you know is planning to get involved please share about it with us here.

Most important, let us be praying for the youths who will be participating in this event.

I never knew they weren't allowed to take their Bibles to school.

I remember taking my Bible to High School and reading during lunch, in the halls (I was a loner). A few times I got jeered at but kids generally left me alone. Of course, that was 20 years ago...not sure how "accepting" teens are nowadays.

I didn't realize it was against the rules in any way lol.

I had a magazine looking bible that I read just to avoid confrontation. I recall debating quite a bit if I was being "ashamed" or not but at the same time reading a bible that was obviously a bible was akin to wearing "jesus shirts". Which felt like cheating somehow. Leastways it wasn't my style.

Looking back, there's still something to learn from my uncomfortability on the subject for sure because I'm still that way. I prefer to hide things but will speak about them openly...I just don't want a shirt or what sometimes feels like a prop (having a bible open for the sake of being obvious about having a bible open) do the talking for me. It does open a door for some and that's OK. I'm not knocking that, just that it's always felt like an honest debate is there. Condemnation for not wanting to being too open about my faith and yet encouragement in being innovative and genuine. Decisions decisions :)

Well that's the thing, the ARE allowed to do so (within certain "rules") . I think the whole purpose behind this is to also help bring awareness to their rights to do such (AND how to so such LEGALLY and approach the legal boundaries when staff/students try to infringe that right)

I remember in Jr. High (not to long after REALLY starting to know Jesus as MORE than Sunday school stories) I began taking my Bible to school. I'd open it up and read it after finishing work (actually got my school work DONE early in class just so I could get to reading my Bible :) talk about motivation :LOL: ) Well one day in the hallway some jerk boy (he was ALWAYS a jerk to me, going back to elementary school) decided (in the middle of a LARGE group of kids) to LOUDLY draw attention to the fact that I was carrying my Bible. Very loudly called me out by name and said "You know you're not allow to bring Bibles to school! Blah Blah Blah something about separation of church and state" Well at that point I was shaking in my boots. 15 year old me thought "Well Lord, is this what suffering for Your name sake is?" (15 year old me was very naive) and at that point a teacher (who had been hanging something on the wall behind a pillar and wasn't seen till she stepped out) spoke up to them all " Is she reading it to you? Is she telling you that you have to read it?" (A few more other things were asked, all of which he was shaking his head no to.) It felt like a sweet victory.

I used to be the tee shirt evangelist (but that was more high school, and early what little college courses I went to) In fact almost ALL my wardrobe was some sort of Christian tee shirt, had some pretty cool ones to. But then the Lord starting showing me how wearing a tee shirt (even if it WAS a truthful slogan) WASN'T the same as living for Him, and I was certainly not one who could take on honest debate if someone started such because of a shirt I was wearing.

The "separation of church and state, blah, blah, blah" sounds EXACTLY like what I got quoted when I read my Bible in school! You'd think they'd come up with something original but it seems they all jeered from the same playbook!

Yeah my brother has a shirt that opens a door to conversation and it works for him but I definitely don't think it's for everyone. Certainly isnt for me, although I do like those Tshirts that have everything microprinted to the point where you can get the entire bible on a shirt. A few books or choice passages that are actually readable would be pretty neat :)

whoa! I can't even imagine that.
Closest thing I can imagine is the tie my former pastor had. It was an image of books and on each spine title was a book name from the Bible. All the books were listed.

Yeah I had to go with generic keywords but I found a website that does it...it was from an advert I saw maybe 2 years ago and I thought there was no reason why you couldn't do the bible also.

Might have to do custom though and I don't have the inclination to if it's more than $100 (which is probably a no lol)

  • We can print approximately 40,000 words on each t-shirt, but there is no word limit to the text you can upload. If your text is too short, we will repeat it until it fills the entire t-shirt. If it is too long, we will print as much as we can fit.
Wow, that's some neat stuff. That would be an awesome gift.

Well, looks like someone already uploaded THE BIBLE to the books selection list. (though I think if I were doing it I would type it ALL out :LOL: to ensure it's the version I picked, and that nothing was added/taken out/changed.
This is it, shown in red, priced at $34 (even after changing sizes, it didn't appear to change in price)

okay, now I'm playing with the custom upload mode, runs about $44. So maybe doable.

That's considerably cheaper than I thought it would be. Even the sum of one book would be great depending on the day/mood but "still" idk how I'd feel about wearing it.

The idea has been logged away for a bit though because I thought it had some potential. It's hard NOT to meditate on the word when it's on what you're wearing :)

Yes your child has a constitutional right to bring his or her Bible to school. This has always been a thing.

Yeah separation of church and state is exactly the reason why the state can't tell your child not to bring his Bible to school.
