Had a thought yesterday that got the kids engaged:

If Yahweh made us out from the dust of the ground, why are we, like, 60% water?

What are some random thoughts that have been floating around your noggin?

Perhaps the ground was really wet at the time...?

God made man from a mud-puddle. Yeah, that's gotta be it...

That's why we like to play in 'em when we are young...

Okay - maybe not...

When mud dries out, what do you have? Dust. God breathed into man the breath of life. When we breath out, the expelled air contains moisture. That's why your mirror fogs up. Maybe God's breath has a high moisture content!

Any kid who has ever made mud pies knows you gotta have some water to hold the dust together. Otherwise it'll just blow away. :sneaky:

Good. I can claim that is why I jiggle when I walk.

(I don't really, but it was fun to say. And I can tell I'm getting there, if I don't do something soon to correct the trend...)

I couldn't object even if I wanted to. I have stolen many phrases other people have said. I always announce that I am stealing it, which means I am not really stealing it, right? If I let you know I am stealing it, it is okay, right?

Both Hydrogen and Oxygen are very abundant in earth’s crust, and found almost everywhere on earth. It is also the most abundant element in the universe, estimated to make up about 74% of all matter. Oxygen is the third-most abundant element in the universe, and makes up about 46.6% of Earth's mass. The land-to-water ratio on Earth is about 29% land to 71% water, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The way I look at and forgive me if I’m missing the point of this conversation is what is contained in dust? Organic matter. your body even your bones when broken down into elements essentially contain and are made from minerals, salts, proteins etc. a body after it dies will decompose back into basic organic matter back into the elements of nature given enough time. The same “dust” from which we were formed and God breathed life into is the same dust our bodies will return to after our spirits leave this world. Just me placing my earthly knowledge into scripture. I could be way off.

I get that, but where is the water in the dust/minerals? Why are we made of such a high percentage of water when we were made from dust?

Most people I've asked laugh and say "mud has water". lol.

I’m grasping at straws here but maybe there is a play off the idea that water was to come in later in scripture. That of us being dead in our sins until we were given “living water“ as Jesus offered the Samaritan woman at the well. Just me thinking outside the box. Perhaps water was intentionally left out to be referenced later with Jesus.
