I agree

I think that that the phrase "it is finished" is too vague of a statement to draw the conclusion that it means an abolished law. I could tell u an interpretation that would fit along with my beliefs about the rest of scripture, but this scripture alone can be interpreted many ways.
Its possible that it could mean the end of a covenant, but new covenant doesn't mean new law.
That statement isn't in the least bit vague to me. He didn't abolish the law, he fulfilled it. I don't know why this is so difficult to grasp.
If someone just randomly said "it is finished" you would have no idea what they were talking about. It is very vague... you have your beliefs on what it means based on preexisting beliefs from other things in the the bible, church, etc.
Post a scripture
Nobody random said this. Hence, why it isn't the least bit vague. I don't glom on to pre-existing beliefs. The bible (NT) wasn't written when He accomplished this and the church did not yet exist, etc.
Uh, this one comes to mind - Repent
“Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles—
the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death, a light has dawned.”
From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”
Matt 4 : 16-18
If I walked past a stranger on the street and the only thing they said to me was "it is finished"... I would think they weren't all there mentally. The phrase by itself... WITH NO OTHER CONTEXT... is vague.
Your other beliefs about scripture is what makes you (and many others) think you know what he means by that phrase.
Ok cool, what do you think repent means?
What did Jesus 'finish' on the Cross - Please elaborate - scripture please - thank you
From what you are attempting to do - rejecting the fulfillment of the Law and the Will of God.
sometime people r saying the same thing and still fight..Sometime 2 know takes away our ability to listsenThat statement isn't in the least bit vague to me. He didn't abolish the law, he fulfilled it. I don't know why this is so difficult to grasp.
Just asked a simple question about the scripture you posted. I think a lot of misinterpretations happen in scripture because we don't define these words that seem to only be used in the church.
1.) You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.
John 5:39
2.) Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come— In the volume of the book it is written of Me— To do Your will, O God.’ ”
Hebrews 10:7
3.) Because they were ignorant of God’s righteousness and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness
Romans 10:4
4.) For Christ is the end of the law, to bring righteousness to everyone who believes.
Romans 10:5
These four Commands of God are for you to follow IF you want to inherit Eternal Life.
And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? Luke 18:18
Don't be like this Ruler who under estimated who he was speaking to and went away very sad.
You could have just answered the question.
No, it is important for you - the Lord has finished the work that He was sent to do.
If, we fail to Rest in Him, we refuse God's Sabbath Rest and will be cast out.
i know you don't want that - neither do i - Amen
I quoted you. Are you retracting your comment?did i not say you lost something along the way
You work on the Sabbath and then say:wear songlasses - it helps u 2 c
Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus,
Again, you change the subject. You preach Sabbath and work on Sabbath. How is that not utter hypocrisy? All of mankind has only Two Choices - To believe God or deny Him.
Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. John 3:18
Do you remember when Jesus said to the Devil and also to the Religious Leaders this - "It is written"
