Satan Tests Job
1 There was a man named Job, living in the land of Uz,[a] who worshiped God and was faithful to him. He was a good man, careful not to do anything evil. 2 He had seven sons and three daughters, 3 and owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, one thousand head of cattle, and five hundred donkeys. He also had a large number of servants and was the richest man in the East.
4 Job's sons used to take turns giving a feast, to which all the others would come, and they always invited their three sisters to join them. 5 The morning after each feast, Job would get up early and offer sacrifices for each of his children in order to purify them. He always did this because he thought that one of them might have sinned by insulting God unintentionally.
6 When the day came for the heavenly beings[b] to appear before the Lord, Satan[c] was there among them. 7 The Lord asked him, “What have you been doing?”
Satan answered, “I have been walking here and there, roaming around the earth.”8 “Did you notice my servant Job?” the Lord asked. “There is no one on earth as faithful and good as he is. He worships me and is careful not to do anything evil.”
9 Satan replied, “Would Job worship you if he got nothing out of it? 10 You have always protected him and his family and everything he owns. You bless everything he does, and you have given him enough cattle to fill the whole country. 11 But now suppose you take away everything he has—he will curse you to your face!”
12 “All right,” the Lord said to Satan, “everything he has is in your power, but you must not hurt Job himself.” So Satan left.
Job's Children and Wealth Are Destroyed
13 One day when Job's children were having a feast at the home of their oldest brother, 14 a messenger came running to Job. “We were plowing the fields with the oxen,” he said, “and the donkeys were in a nearby pasture. 15 Suddenly the Sabeans[d] attacked and stole them all. They killed every one of your servants except me. I am the only one who escaped to tell you.”
16 Before he had finished speaking, another servant came and said, “Lightning struck the sheep and the shepherds and killed them all. I am the only one who escaped to tell you.”
17 Before he had finished speaking, another servant came and said, “Three bands of Chaldean[e] raiders attacked us, took away the camels, and killed all your servants except me. I am the only one who escaped to tell you.”
18 Before he had finished speaking, another servant came and said, “Your children were having a feast at the home of your oldest son, 19 when a storm swept in from the desert. It blew the house down and killed them all. I am the only one who escaped to tell you.”
20 Then Job got up and tore his clothes in grief. He shaved his head and threw himself face downward on the ground. 21 He said, “I was born with nothing, and I will die with nothing. The Lord gave, and now he has taken away. May his name be praised!”
22 In spite of everything that had happened, Job did not sin by blaming God.

im going to ask some questions on this scripture, Fistly if we disagree its not a problem to me.

But firstly who is explaining the story of Job 1 here, whos account is it. and secondly who is this story being told to ?

2 who struck the cattle with lightening

3, How did the Sabeans come to kill Jobs servants, did satan possess them sabean people ? and did God allow that too ?

4 who caused the storm that killed Jobs children ?


5 How can you believe the story of Job is accurate account of what God allows.

6 How can you believe a word satan says in this Job 1 story ?.

I believe God revealed the Job story to someone, giving an accurate account of Job's trials. Tradition ascribes it to Moses. It may well be that God revealed all this to Moses in his weeks in the tabernacle. No one can be sure.

Satan did not actually say much to God. It was basically a challenge. God points out the kind of man that Job was and Satan says it's because Job is protected.

As far as the destruction of Job's life goes, it was Satan's doing, with God's permission. We know that Satan can influence the weather. Lord Jesus rebuked the storm. I've had to do that myself. I wish I knew that while I was in the Navy. We went through some terrible storms but I knew nothing of spiritual warfare at the time.

The Sabeans apparently came from the area known as Yemen now. Some commentators say that they were marauding predators.

About 40 years ago, I got deceived. I let my guard down. I thought that something was God's will and it was not. I knew better. The moment I decided, I lost all my peace. I was tormented night and day for 6 months. I had all kinds of signs that seemed to confirm that it was indeed God's will. Yet I had insomnia that I could do nothing about. I overlooked God's word that says we should let the peace of God rule like an umpire in our hearts. If we have no peace, then we need to stop and think again. But wanted something so badly that I ignored the truth that I knew. That is spiritually foolish. When I finally gave up, my mind stopped racing and I had the a proper sleep for the first time in 6 months. God was not doing this to me. I was in the hands of the tormentors, aka evil spirits. God gave them permission, for my sake, so I could come to a place where I realised that I was wrong. I learned a hard lesson at that time.

God is well able to turn things for our good. I met a man who was to be my friend and mentor. He was generous in every way, including his time. He worked full time and led a home based fellowship as well. He took the time to help me to see what had gone wrong. Satan had set out to destroy me and he came close. But God's grace and mercy prevailed. One of the incidents that woke me up was a minor car accident. I was service tech for alarm systems. I was so tired that I lost concentration while doing a U-turn. The car was still driveable. I went back to the office and told the boss I was taking 2 weeks off. I had time to consider what was really going on. It was not pretty.

In the NT we are given not only authority over the enemy, but told of his devices and given devices to do warfare with him

Job had none of that.
Jobs dynamic with satan was in ignorance and was passive.
Our walk is opposite that.

Your understanding is wrong. Jesus is not working with Satan. Paul is cutting these sinners loose, removing their spiritual covering so that they may receive some correction.
Matthew 18:
…16But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ 17 If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, regard him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

Satan is the god of this world and the world is controlled by him. (1 John 5:19). By shunning a believer and refusing to have fellowship with him, he is open to Satan's attacks. Such attacks are intended for that person's good, not harm.

"Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from any brother who leads an undisciplined life that is not in keeping with the tradition you received from us." 2 Thessalonians 3:6

One of the greatest failings of the modern church is its unwillingness to offend people. Some people need a wake up call. If they are allowed to remain, it is like a festering sore that spreads and weakens and hurts others.

There may be other reasons why a draft is lost that I am unaware of, but generally speaking, from my own experience anyway, a draft is only lost if I keep navigating away from that page repeatedly over a period of time, or because my device was restarted. Then it could be your clipboards have been cleared of anything that was saved on them. If I want something to last over a long period of time before I am comfortable either posting or deleting it once and for all, I save it as a notepad document Even some webpage favorites have disappeared over time, so if you have some that you refer to again and again, it may be wise to create a document of that material as well

That is a most interesting passage. I wonder if Jesus still allowed Satan to sift each of them like wheat while at the same time not allowing their faith to fail. I also believe Satan sifts all of us like wheat. It is simply one aspect of the many agricultural analogies and/or metaphors that are used in Scripture to describe the process of making us, or bringing us, preparing us, to accept the reality, meaning, and purpose of our condition before the One True Holy God Who loves us so much He gave His only begotten Son as the perfect sacrificial Lamb, that we may be reconciled to Him by grace through faith in His shed righteous blood for the remission of our sins. I feel blessed and am grateful that this grace was extended to me throughout the period of time the tilling of the soil of my mind took place, which was quite a few years. The Son was always shining while I was busy looking for the very thing I was running away from in rebellion and defiance.
