Hi everyone,

I am Jan and new to this forum.
Honestly my first minutes on this forum were surprising. I just opened some recent post and saw claimes like: 'covid is not real', 'yes it is real, i work in a hospital'. then: hypergrace, talk about it and get banned, wow, apparently there was a fight about it in 2016.

I was a bit shocked, then no surprise as I believe this is the general overall going on in churches.
There is so much fighting going on, honestly I wonder how as a church we are going to survive.

It also made me doubt why I joined. The reason why I joined is that I want to find some clarity in what direction God wants me to take.
Also as of all the winds blowing from all directions in the churches, I have a bit of trouble finding a church.

Perhaps after all I could be of help to someone, but I just hope that it would be without any argument.

God bless you all,
Jan

There wasn't any option in your poll that applies to my train of thought. Actually, not sure what you mean by 'church' and the division you mentioned. Regardless, glad to have you onboard with us. God bless you as well. Welcome to CC.

Oh Jan, we live in an imperfect world and Christian Chat is no different. I only suggest that you ignore the argumentive types. There will always be those who say things to turn heads to get peoples' attention.

There are also many really nice, helpful people here at Christian Chat. This is a second home for many of us. Look through the forums to find an interesting thread and join in on the discussion or start your own thread.

You live in the Netherlands, such a beautiful country. You are so fortunate. What part of the country do you live in? Welcome Jan.

Greetings and Welcome, JanPossible!

It is necessary to contend for the truth of God's word, because there is so much false teachings out there and which was also prophesied of.

Good to meet you, brother Jan!:):coffee: Perhaps the best we can do is try to get them to fight nicely.:giggle: All God asks is that we do our best. I believe that denominations are divisions and divisions are divisive. "Divide and Conquer" is the battle cry of Satan imho.:)

I've been a member since 2011. All this fighting you've mentioned is the norm as long as I've been here. The most of it is relegated to the BDF (Bible Discussion Forums), That's where all the pharisees go to each proclaim their spiritual and intellectual superiority and biblical knowledge, while condemning anyone who disagrees, even on the smallest point, a heretic headed for hell.

Hypergrace is but one of a handful of topics that are perpetually argued there. Literally.

The rest of the site tends to be more calm, but still gets its flare ups. And, as always, it's often about sifting through the masses to find the people who are good to chat with.

Hello Subhumanoidal,

Let me ask you a question: Do you think that the teaching that the resurrection has already taken place as being nothing to be concerned about or that it is of no consequence? My point is that there are things being believed and taught that are eternal life threatening, the teaching that the resurrection as already taking place being one of them. In addition, Revelation 22:16 teaches that if anyone adds to the words to the prophecy of that book, God will add to that person the plagues written there. By our contending for the truth, we are correcting those who bring in these false teachings. It is not our word, but God's word that we are presenting. And we are showing them the errors of each of their claims, albeit most of the time it falls on deaf ears. However, these false teachers and teachings were prophesied, stating that "the time is coming when people will not put up with sound doctrine. But to suit their own desires, they will gather around themselves a great number of teachers (YouTube, books written by false teachers, the internet, etc.) to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will abandon the truth and turn aside to myths."

Welcome. A friend mine, now with the Lord, used to say that Christianity is not an argument, it's a relationship to God through Christ. I agree 100%. Paul rebuked the Corinthians for their cliques. He would not be impressed with what's gone on since the Reformation.

It's a mixed bag here. Some people still believe that the earth is flat. It would be wonderful if we could agree to disagree instead of getting out the sword of the Spirit to fight each other. I suspect if and when the Church experiences real persecution, a lot of doctrinal disputes will suddenly cease to matter. When you are facing a prison term for preaching the gospel, I doubt that being a Calvinist will matter all that much. People will be asking for prayer from any and every Christian, whatever pet doctrine they may have.

I left mainstream denominations decades ago. I don't miss it a bit. Much of it is what I call "Christianism". It's far removed from what the Bible says is the Church. I studied some teaching by Watchman Nee, summarised as "The Normal Christian Church". And I believe he nailed it. And he practiced it also.

Who teaches that the resurrection has already taken place?

The problem is that so many people use the Bible to promote their own view. It is possible to justify a-millenialism, pre and post millenialism from the same Bible. Historicists and futurists likewise quote chapter and verse. I studied all of that and I came to the conclusion that no one really knows. So I quit worrying about it. We are meant to maintain the unity of the Spirit, which is far more important than agreement on minor doctrines that have little impact on a person's relationship with Jesus.

There are enough real heresies without bickering over pre or post trib rapture. A so-called prophet is declaring that the Holy Spirit is Lord, based on one out of context scripture. The church is being set up to accept a phony revival that will be Toronto Blessing mark 2. While Christians strain out the gnat of pretribulation rapture (if indeed it is wrong, I won't say) many have swallowed the camel of a counterfeit masquerading as the Holy Spirit.

None of that changes the fact that the BDF is full of people that raise themselves above others and use that as a justification for personal attacks and judgment.
And that there is a perpetual motion of repetitious topics that are constantly regurgitated because everyone is so sure of their own intelligence that not a single mind is ever changed.
If you think all that pride and chest puffing has anything to do with anything spiritual in nature you're too close to tell.
I've watched many people, over the years, join the site and within a week (or sometimes a day) leave the site after one visit to the BDF.
Isolating one argument of the many doesn't erase any of what I said above. Nor even acknowledge it. It's nothing more than a thinly veiled justification for the things that take place in there.

Hi Jan

Welcome to the forum. I am new as well and just exploring around.

In answer to your point, I think it's just human nature to be divisive, unfortunately. I think if you stick to the principles of reading the bible every day, praying, praising God and not sinning then you will be doing well.

There are many denominations out there and I think we should all pray to God to show us which is the right one. I would tell you that I believe that my Church is the true Church of God but many people would say their own Church is.

Most of the divisions are about different interpretations of the bible but almost everyone agrees on the fundamentals.

Ask God to show you the true path. Explore and find a place that you feel in your heart is right and concentrate on pleasing God as per the four steps I mentioned earlier.
