So yes. Jesus himself experienced betrayal from his own apostles. Judas also sold him out for a few Silver coins. And then realising the gravity of what he'd just fine I took his own life. Peter in that other hand repented and went on to become one of great apostles in the Bible post resurrection.

And yes I agree with Jerry, you absolutely CAN lose your salvation. Being baptized is only the beginning of your walk. If you follow Christ and the law of love in the Bible you'll be saved as is the promise. But nowhere in there does it say that you can't lose your salvation. In fact Paul went around telling the early churches there were Jesusing wrong and some of them would not inherit God's kingdom.

One thing God is revealing to me at the moment is an why sin is bad. It's not solely because we're breaking rules. It's because we are violating the laws of true love. And when you are not acting in love it has ripple effects that send shockwaves through humanity and time itself. One little thoughtless indiscretion can affect so many people and set into motion chains of events that cause a soul to become lost.

I truly wish I could show you the vision God has given me. If you saw it you'd never want to sin again and you'd become the most loving person on this earth it's that awful.

There is a reason why Jesus said 'Love thy neighbour' is the greatest commandment of them all. It's because if you do this above all else you'll be walking in love and spreading God's light.

So strict rule following without love achieves nothing. Loving your neighbours and forgiving achieves everything.

I don't lack faith, but you lack understanding that people can come to faith and fall away.

You do lack faith, that eternal life is eternal, and that God will complete the work he started

they never had true faith, you can claim it a million times that will not make it true

Followers of Jesus want to spare people from the fires of hell. Sin sends people there. The only problem I have with homosexuals generally is their refusal to accept God's judgement on their behaviour. If a person refuses to quit stealing, refuses to quit sleeping around, refuses to quit an adulterous relationship then I would warn them just as I would warn homosexuals that they are in danger. Some thieves try to justify their behaviour, fornication is rife and adulterers often claim that love makes ok. No, sin is never justified. Jesus came to set people free from sin, not to pat them on the head and say that it's all ok, you are forgiven. To the woman caught in adultery He said, "Go and sin no more".

Easy. People do odd things when under great stress or in fear of losing their lives. Peter proved that he was human after all. He boasted that he would never deny Christ. He found out that he was not as good as he thought. That happens a lot to the proud and self confident. Peter was transformed by the life of Christ. He did not deny Christ again. He was martyred.

Peter denied he knew Jesus three times.

Whether it was fear or whatever, the point is that his faith was not strong enough to stand with Jesus and stand up to admit it

Don't forget, Peter was then one who Jesus got to walk on the water with him. He'd experienced great miracles and yet his faith shriveled during Jesus' most dark hours.

abraham denied his wife was his wife and called her his sister out of fear of the king, did Abraham stop believing his wife was his wife?

and Jesus forgave him, without even asking him to repent or confess. And Peter ended up being stronger for it, as someone else said, in the end he was martyred,

And thus proving that if you fall away you're not necessarily an Antichrist.

If you repent God's mercy is limitless. He loves taking broken ugly things and making them beautiful again.

Salvation can only be lost if one turns their back on God refuses to repent.

jesus said in john 3 and john 6 they will never perish, the will never die, they will live forever.

trying to get a straight answer out of Jerry is like trying to nail jello to the wall

he has not responded contextually to any post I directed towards him, other than to deflect and try to change the subject

that says more than if he would actually answer. for one thing, it's not very honest. maybe that is the best he can do. I don't know
