interesting topic. I started doing research on it some wks back and the first thing I noticed, is that 'put a pin through it' information is actually hard to find. something I don't think has been mentioned on tv, is that it is (apparently) a 40 yr old construct that is being resurrected
this is what most people seem to be understanding about it: Is “critical race theory” a way of understanding how American racism has shaped public policy, or a divisive discourse that pits people of color against white people? Liberals and conservatives are in sharp disagreement.
The topic has exploded in the public arena this spring—especially in K-12, where numerous state legislatures are debating bills seeking to ban its use in the classroom.
In truth, the divides are not nearly as neat as they may seem. The events of the last decade have increased public awareness about things like housing segregation, the impacts of criminal justice policy in the 1990s, and the legacy of enslavement on Black Americans. But there is much less consensus on what the government’s role should be in righting these past wrongs. Add children and schooling into the mix and the debate becomes especially volatile.

above is a brief synopsis of what you can find online, depending on your search perimeters and which side of the debate you are actually on. parents of all colors are up in arms about it because now it is being introduced to children in grade school and the core ideas are that whites are privileged and blacks (or other minorities) are never going to have the same opportunities and whites are basically racist and blacks are continually striving to overcome that.
you will find CRT dressed up in all kinds of very scholarly sounding verbiage that makes it sound scientific, however the bias is palatable. discussion is ongoing and pushed to the forefront (in my opinion) by the use of the word 'theory' Certain states are now banning the teaching of CRT

WHY ARE REPUBLICANS UPSET?
Many Republicans view the concepts underlying critical race theory as an effort to rewrite American history and persuade white people that they are inherently racist and should feel guilty because of their advantages.

From what I have gathered, it is simply a re-interpretation of American history so that Black Racism can be made into government policy. Here are the MARXIST LIES which everyone is expected to believe unquestioningly.
1. All whites are racist (and that's a fact!).
2. America was founded on racism, not liberty and justice for all.
3. The Constitution is racist, and so is every law in America.
4. "Systemic racism" is embedded in everything in America.
5. Whites owe the moon to blacks (and then some).
6. Americans owe trillions of dollars in reparations to blacks because their ancestors were slaves.
7. No crimes committed by blacks are to be prosecuted, and black criminals should always get a free pass.
8. Anti-white discrimination should now be official government policy.
9. The Demoncrats are the saviors of America, and all others should be persecuted and jailed.
10. There should be absolutely no barrier to illegal voting, so that the Demoncrats can remain in power forever.

CRT is basically an effort by black and brown Americans (mostly black) to make sure their traumatic history is NEVER whitewashed or forgotten. One way to accomplish this, and to make sure that their history is remembered long into the future, is to make sure that the current/modern-day/future whites are seen as oppressors and/or accomplices of the whites of the past so the story continues. Over time history becomes faded or even forgotten, little details get lost. However, if history is kept "alive" it will not be forgotten. By making people accountable ("pay") for their actions or reminding people of past injustices, black Americans believe they are achieving a form of long due liberation, or to the extreme, achieving revenge.

Legally speaking yes black Americans achieved liberation a long time ago, in the 1960s. However, let's remember this liberation was not welcomed by many white Americans (especially in the South). Let's not forget, President Johnson had to send in federal agents to walk black students into white schools.

are you aware that the 'southerners' you speak of were ALL Democrats? they would like us all to forget that. The KKK were Democrats and legislation to keep blacks segregated was ALL initiated by Democrats. yes, Johnson was a Democrat. It would not be true to state every single Democrat was a segregationist, yet history (which so many are now trying to change) reveals that Repubs were the ones wanting to end slavery and against segregation

Wait, what? You need to read more carefully. I wasn't talking about political parties. Yes, I am already aware of that part of history - the Republicans were more involved in bringing forth desegregation. Johnson then pressured the Democrats to vote for civil rights threatening they would lose the Black vote forever if they don't.

FALSE. It is a Marxist/Communist Plot to use race to divide America and keeping tensions at a boiling point so that lawlessness and anarchy prevail. Do you seriously believe that BLM gives a hoot about poor underprivileged blacks? The woman leading BLM grabbed millions of dollars for herself so that she could buy mansions and live in white communities. So the hypocrisy should be obvious.

All the black Americans I know support BLM (not the extremist elements like looting) and probably CRT.
