Recurrent dream

Ok so here is the situation. Since my youth as far back as I can remember I’ve often had these dreams/nightmares of sorts. Perhaps starting as young as 5. I’m 32 now. The dream goes like this. I’m walking in a open area of wilderness/prairie . I come to a fence or gate. Once I observe the gate I observe my childhood home is beyond the gate. Which is factually accurate as I recall. After that a North American wildlife like a Grizzly bear or a Wolf run up to me. Sometimes it’s an angry bovine snorting and drooling, red angry eyes and makes like it wishes to attack me preventing me from going further past the gate. For years no matter how much I willed myself in the dream to fight I always found myself running away falling and then I’d wake up in a cold sweat. This most recent one happened again with the wolf but this time I picked up a pointy stick on the ground extended it and pointed it like a weapon towards the wolf and made to defend as I got past this gate and began walking down my old childhood driveway away from the home looking back to make sure I’m not being chased and then woke up still with fear and cold sweat. This is one of many recurring dreams that tend to happen year after year. Am I stuck with these for the rest of my life at this point or what can be done to eliminate them? It’s beginning to bug me that they haven’t subsided and they happen as clearly and vividly as the first time I experienced them. Sometimes as sharp as if you were watching a HD tv discovery channel show on wildlife. Any ideas besides me going nut cause I’m at a loss as to what this is. 😳

Yeah. You're having a reoccurring dream. I had the same thing from 5 until my 20s. Never amounted to anything. It happens.

I used to have terrible dreams, like you, as real as if it was happening. I was prayed for and an evil occult spirit cast out. I also had a spirit of fear which went the same way, to the lake of fire. I have few dreams now and none of them impact me. The only exception is a few days in hospital when I was on heavy pain relief. The dreams were so real I could not work out where I was when I woke up. When the medications stopped, so did the dreams.

Since your dreams are continual, it seems like an attack from Satan. You can command the evil spirit to depart and not return. If dreams reoccur, cast the evil spirit out again. A friend of mine told the devil that he (Satan) would run out of evil spirits before my friend would quit casting them out. His nightmares soon ceased.

I don't know if this helps you, but when I come across threatening animals in my dreams I will try to kill them. I used to have frequent dreams about bears, wolves, and deer coming after me.

One by one I either killed them or wounded them severely. The dreams stopped completely. I can't remember the last time I had a dream with an aggressive animal now.

I have no clue if your dreams are good or bad but these were my initial thoughts.

Going through a gate to your childhood home is a very common yearning in man. C. S. Lewis said:

"If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.”

We all want to go home. Our brains help us work through those obstacles we encounter.

Thankyou for that. I have a feeling you are on to something here. As I thought about what you said here throughout the day I kinda did some reflection on it and it would kinda make sense as my faith life has been very turbulent over the years. I’d get close to God as a child then Something bad would happen and I’d push away sometimes almost completely pushing my faith away completely for years. It was a constant push /pull thing with my faith as a child. Sometimes it was situations beyond my control and sometimes me trying to do everything on my own out of stubbornness and pride. I think when this dream happens again I want to try to just stay still after I pass the gate and see what happens. If I can remember that is. I quite literally wake up in fear and short of breath beyond my control with these but I will try to stay and not run to see what more I can learn.

Sure, you've heard of that concept all your life, but no one has ever told you what that really means, and that's because no one around you understood the meaning themselves. Paul tells us exactly what it is that you need to do . . . you must Turn to Him for His Spiritual Circumcision. Turn to Christ right after you read the below Words, and ask that Jesus would Purify your Heart so that you will finally enter the Holy, Narrow Gate, and remain. To be in the Right Field of Christ, you must be lifted of the Curse of the Sinful Nature.

Colossians 2:10-12, 14-15 NLT - "So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority. When you came to Christ, you were "circumcised," but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision--the cutting away of your sinful nature. For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. ... He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross."

I know . . . you don't ever recall those verses, and that's because they've literally been kept hidden from us. But you see them, and you know that regardless of translation, the message rings loud and True. But as said, you now see these Words, and they are Life itself. If you Turn to Christ, you will finally be free. So ask Him for His Holy Operation of Faith. Beg for it and your dreams will be fulfilled beyond imagination.

I’m greeted by what I’d have to believe is the Holy Spirit repeating “ I love you“ The first time it happened I was made short a breath and the hair on my arms stood up then a calm peaceful feeling overcame me like the likes to which I haven’t experienced ever. That only happened once but the quiet whisper will repeat “I love you”. It’s really quite miraculous and I look forward to see the terrible dreams hopefully cease.

What a wonderful message to wake up to. You should know that there are very, very few people at this forum that are willing to accept instruction. You are the rare exception; so if I were you, I'd be feeling very good about yourself.

Keep mulling over Colossians 2:9-15. I've been looking at this set of scripture for a few years and I am still learning the depth behind it all. There are no more important verses to know and understand that these Seven Perfect verses. They are the backbone behind the entire Bible, giving context to nearly every aspect of it.

It may sound silly, but I'm proud of you for making a change in your life. You should feel good about yourself as well.
