John 14:26
But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.

We were not back then to have Jesus us tell us anything in person. In context Jesus is speaking only to the apostles, not to us today.

Sure. But it is confirmed by Paul that Christians still need the Holy Spirit to lead us into truth.

Ephesians 1:17

"I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better." It helps to remember that Lord Jesus is the Living Word, He is Truth. So to know Lord Jesus better is to know Truth better also.

It's one thing to know what the Bible says. It's also necessary to know what it means. I don't know how often I've read a passage several times before I've read it once. By that I mean that the meaning and significance of a passage was hidden until the Holy Spirit revealed it to me. I also know well the enabling of the Holy Spirit to bring back to mind what I've learned over the last 50 years. For example, someone wants to judge me for eating meat. I immediately recall that I've read something that contradicts that judgement. So I can respond to Satan's accusation and silence him with God's word. It worked for Lord Jesus, so it works for believers.

I disagree completely. But, you are certainly entitled to your personal opinion. Mine happens to differ.

If we actually used that "logic" then it could be argued that nothing in the bible is meant for us today.

the Holy Spirit the same Holy Spirit who was back then is still here today and forever. HE the Holy Spirit is Eternal. Jesus has never stopped being the word of God and He is still saving people today as HE did back then.

Yes what was said was to the Apostles but the same actions continued after the Apostle and we see that in the book of Acts.
Salvation was not only to those back then, but Jesus is also Lord today, and the Holy Spirit Job is still needed just as it was then.

We have the very word of God, passed down from the Apostles to us today as we too have the same Holy Spirit they had too.

17 I always pray to the great and glorious Father, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ. I pray that he will give you the Spirit, who will let you know truths about God and help you understand them, so that you will know him better.

No one is rejecting him. Only pointing out a mis application of a text in context.

Correct

If you put Jesus' words in your mind by reading Scripture, the Holy Spirit will bring relevant parts to your attention at appropriate times.

Thats may be true. But it is still a different to that what Jesus special revealed to the apostles.

Oh gosh, that is so so sad….to never know The Comforter….The Revealer of the secrets of God’s Heart and Mind toward us ….The ONLY ONE that gives us understanding and introduces us to our Savior, Beloved, Lord and King - Yeshua/Jesus Christ…..to reject the Holy Spirit of God is very sad…indeed…

Everything written in the bible is meant for us to read and understand. Only the things not found in the bible was not meant for the other generations of Christians.
