I disagree. And this is the problem with the majority of bible teaching today. Loosey goosey hermanutucs . Its like " ok Paul mentions Baptism over here , so if I take that and add it to where the bible mentioned repent , double back to where believe was said and mash them together, with no reguard to the context I found them in and , hey presto we have a match for Acts 2.38 . Ta Darrrr!!!
You are making the mistake of taking each scripture as stand alone. That is not rightly dividing the word.

The whole issue with acts 2:38 is the translation. If the verse was translated correctly we probably would not have these discussions,
I think these disagreements originate with a misunderstanding of the new and old covenants. This goes back to an understanding of symbolism used in scripture. In the covenant of the old testament much symbolism was used to help people understand the spiritual. Under the new covenant, there isn't as much symbolism used, we are given an understanding of the spiritual meaning of the symbolism in our hearts. Some people still use the physical of the OT symbols as commandments, not the spiritual meaning of the symbols.

Water is a powerful symbol. Fleshly water is simply water, good for cleaning dirt and for drinking. Water as a symbol is powerful, complex, and holy.

No I said ' first ' . The verse in question Should be understood in its immediate context first, before we go wandering off into other books and letters . The writer specifically is writing for a reason.

Show me a single convert who is Spiritually Baptized and never Water Baptized first?
"Cornelius." ooops FAILED, sorry, "And ALL THAT WERE WITH him:

Act 10:33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God...

Act 10:44 ...While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
Act 10:45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 10:46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter...

NEVER water baptized FIRST!?:

Act 10:47 ...Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

Isn't proper Bible study great!? Be Blessed!

I knew that when i posted what I did, but my real focus was on Paul's meaning of being Buried with Christ. And as the Biblical Scholar pointed out, what Paul used and its meanings is how I presented it to be.

Peter provides additional insight about water baptism in his exchange with others in Jerusalem after his encounter with Cornelius and other Gentiles. Notice Peter states he was not about to withstand God AFTER seeing God pour out the gift of the Holy Ghost on the group. (Acts 11:17) What did Peter mean about withstanding God? His actions in verses 47 and 48 provide the answer. He knew to refuse to water baptize the Gentiles would be to interfere with God's wishes to grant them repentance unto life. (Acts 11:18)

17 "Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?
18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life." Acts 11:17-18

This proves water baptism is not just an option but a component of one's spiritual rebirth.. "...he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord." Acts 10:48

Obedience to water baptism is required. Whether one submits to it before or after they receive the Holy Ghost is not relevant. What is, is that all comply to God's mandate.

As if you actually believe you're smarter than that Scholar, who broke down the Greek and revealed, that you're not even remotely close to the truth.

amen. To many people want to take baptized into christ to mean baptized into water. How do they get water out of it. CHrist is the substance with which we are baptized into. Not water. And only God can do this.

There is a distinct difference in being Baptized in Christ and Buried with Christ. But I agree with your viewpoint.

In a Spiritual sense correct, but as an open and outright Testimony to the world, it's through Water.
yes, there is a baptism in water. A command given By God and like all other commands. We as children should be obedient.

what worries me is those who try to connect spirit baptism and water baptism as one, all required pre-salvation.

Even Water Baptism has Spiritual lining behind it. You're being Buried, while under water you represent death, up out of the water you represent resurrection. Immersion is a powerful Witness and Testimony that also represents a Spiritual evidence of one in Christ and one Buried with Christ.

Thats one thing I love about our church. their baptism cermonies are that. They have the one being baptized to try to bring all their friends and family. Many have come to christ by witnessing the testimony of the one being baptized.. It is a power tool for sure.

Peter is saying things to this crowd that doesn't apply to us . " whom ye have crucified , both Lord and Christ.
right because as we all know, only the Jews crucified Christ

I am trying to define how many ways certain groups twist anything to do with the Holy Spirit and the book of Acts

so far, it seems limitless

Did Christ not die for all of us who believe in Him , did He not take all our sins on the cross , was it not all of us that crucified Him ?
Although He laid His life down for us and took it back up again , but are we not all to be blamed for His death ?
Genuine question...

Although in context. I think peter was talking to jews.

He still taught these jews the same gospel we recieve today. Because the same peter was told to take it first to the jews. then Samaria, then to the rest of the earth.

Not two gospels. one for jews and one for us. Same message.
