Great post.

I relate this to Romans7:19 "For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing." That pretty much sums up my own strength against sin.

I agree
The Spirit Is willing but the flesh Is weak.
Some think that they can stop sinning after being reborn.

Usually those are the ones who lower the goal post.
Also to them, sin is something 'bad' you do, but they forget it also includes 'the good' we fail to do.

It would also help if these individuals would get a better picture of God's holiness, then they would see clearly there is no way they can match up to God's standard of perfection.

Thanks for the "link." Very good. I especially liked this excerpt:

In chapter 8, Paul answered his own cry. He said that through the forgiveness of Christ we are freed from eternal condemnation (v.1). Then by the strength of the indwelling Spirit we are empowered to do God’s will (v.9). And one day even our mortal bodies will be redeemed (v.23).

It reminds me of this: Ephesians 2:10) For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

"of his own household" -- of his own self, mind, life, and heart ? .

If there's a process, it is this...God puts us through His wringer, to despair of our own resources, so that we may more and more trust Him.

I so want this, to get a picture of God's holiness. I pray for it every day. Does it take years? Is there a fast track? :unsure:

Many have not come to terms with this truth. The work begun in us is not our own, it is the work God began in us. He will complete on His day only. Do people believe they perfect themselves? It is our Father's blessed work within, amen. All glory to God.

People really do think that perfecting themselves before men determines their salvation and thats why they always quote the scripture that says If you love me keep my commandments without realizing that the only way to be perfect the way our FATHER In heaven IS Perfect Is to be reborn ,GODs workmanship created In CHRIST.They don’t realize It but they are really saying some sins are too big but some sins are acceptable.

2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath [whereof] to glory; but not before God.

One of my favorite books is A.W. Tozers The pursuit of God. The title alone is fascinating, you don't learn if God is the subject or the object until Tozer makes that question crystal clear.

There are 2 views as regards Rom 7v14-24, was Paul referring to his pre conversion experience or post conversion experience!

I come down on his pre conversion experience...

Actually, there is a third view, which I favor. Paul was referring to anyone who was attempting righteousness by the law (or in their own strength).

I agree pre conversion
Those that think he Is talking about post conversion think that they can lose their salvation If they continue to sin In the flesh.GODs salvation Is eternal the first time and when GOD saves a person that person will want to renew their mind to match the new creation they have become.Those that believe they keep their salvation by living holy are really talking about big sins are not acceptable but little sins are not that bad and therefore excused/acceptable.
